Chapter 1994: Extra: A Brand New Life 109 (Jiang Yue and Xue Yan)
She shuddered again.
Upon realizing, if it were truly a ghost calling her, how could there possibly be a call log? So, was last night not a nightmare? Or was she still not awake, experiencing another nightmare?
For no apparent reason, she was certain the call was again from Qin Ye, who had been dead for ten years.
She dared not answer…
Yet she wanted to answer, thinking if it wasn’t Qin Ye, and just happened to be someone else whose caller ID didn’t show up, wouldn’t that prove that last night was just a nightmare, and not some ghostly encounter with Qin Ye? Otherwise, she surely wouldn’t be able to sleep tonight, with her mind full of these thoughts…
Thinking this, she still took the call, her hand trembling.
“Yu Xiao—”
At the sound of Qin Ye’s voice, she screamed, hung up the phone, and couldn’t stop shivering, even crying from fright.
It was Qin Ye.
It was a ghost.
Ahh, was this a dream or was it real…
While hugging her knees and curling up, she frantically tapped her own head, wishing to wake herself up, convinced she was in a dream.
“Miss, are you alright?”
“Xiaoxiao, are you okay, why did you…”
The maid and Yu Yaolan were knocking on the door outside.
Eventually, just like yesterday, they used the spare key to open Yu Xiao’s door.
With the room brightly lit, they could clearly see Yu Xiao trembling like a leaf, her eyes filled with terror, her face as white as paper, with tears shimmering.
“Did you have a nightmare again?” Yu Yaolan asked.
“Am I, am I awake now?”
“You child, what nonsense are you talking about? You are obviously awake now.”
Yu Xiao’s face grew even paler.
Unable to sleep at all and too frightened to stay alone in her room, Yu Yaolan had to stay with her before she could slowly recover, yet she still seemed somewhat soulless.
Due to Yu Xiao’s unsettling condition, they canceled all her appointments, and she stayed home. Yet, after breakfast, Yu Yaolan went to the office for work.
Yu Xiao sat at the dining table, barely touching her bowl of porridge, growing more frightened by the minute. Eventually, she secretly called her dad, Yan Feiming, to tell him about it.
Yan Feiming was quite annoyed: “What ghost, there’s no such thing in this world! Are you overly stressed recently and hallucinating?”
“I haven’t been that busy lately, nor overly stressed. It happened twice, dad, it’s real, it really is Qin Ye, I couldn’t mistake his voice,” Yu Xiao almost cried by the end.
Still disbelieving, Yan Feiming said: “If you’re not overly stressed and hallucinating, then you must be having nightmares. Look, it’s been so long, and as you said, if it was really someone who has been dead for ten years calling you, why now? It’s been so many years. I think someone is targeting you, using this to test you, thinking it’s related to you. Be careful what you say, don’t talk recklessly, or we’ll all be done.”
“No, dad, it really was Qin Ye,” Yu Xiao insisted. “Besides, who would know these things, using them to test me? And it was Qin Ye’s voice…” Saying this, Yu Xiao shuddered again, as if horrified by the eerie feeling that Qin Ye was right beside her.
Thinking it over, Yan Feiming also felt that nobody knew these things, and thus no one would be testing Yu Xiao using this. Yet, he added: “Even so, I don’t believe in ghosts. I still think you are having some mental issues. Find some time to see a doctor, but when you talk to the doctor, hide some details, don’t let anything slip, understand?”
