Situ Mo only stared at him for a couple of glances, seemingly recognizing something, and said in a low voice,
"Taoist Fellow... You certainly are brave, I don't need to kill you, just as long as you suffer some serious injuries..."
As he spoke, he diverted his attention, but his hands had already secretly begun to form a spell, with six different spell gestures switching swiftly, locking his forefinger, the other three fingers fitting closely together, and the Golden Blade once again leaped out into his palm.
"It's that spell!"
Li Yuanjiao had suffered a setback from this spell before, already silently readied his sword, but saw the sea's surface below split open as a muscular, shiny-headed, bright red monk burst forth, holding a staff, swinging it down fiercely.
Kong Tingyun was unflustered, slapping her Storage Bag, from which a Golden Mountain flew out towards the monk to suppress him. The monk, displaying the Vajra Body of an enraged cultivator, was completely unafraid and caught it with a sneer.
However, the moment he touched the Golden Mountain, his tongue became numb, and on his face, where there should be five features, only four remained as his lips had vanished, smooth and even below the philtrum, causing him great alarm. Kong Tingyun coldly laughed and said,
"This Golden Mountain has been waiting for you, monk, for a long time!"
As she spoke, she flicked out a Jade Bead, shining with a gleaming light, and aimed it at the Golden Blade, causing Situ Mo's spell to slow instantly. The Golden Blade buzzed and jittered as if it were a dragonfly being pinched by the tail, trembling continuously, and Kong Tingyun casually said,
"I really want to see how you're going to severely injure me."
Situ Mo was facing her directly for the first time and was a bit troubled,
'I've heard long ago that Xuan Yue Sect members are as stubborn as iron turtles, truly good at defending. This Kong Tingyun is extraordinary, and her magic artifacts are formidable one after the other, really difficult to deal with.'
As expected, Kong Tingyun flicked her sleeve and tossed out a pair of black hooks that twirled in the sky like two crescent moons, leaving a trail of green smoke as they aimed at him.
Situ Mo glanced at her, recognizing that these twin hooks were not any mystical magic artifacts, and he summoned three Golden Shields with ease to fend them off. Meanwhile, the spell of the Golden Blade had also broken through the barrier of the Jade Bead's light, increasing in speed and weaving through the air towards him.
Kong Tingyun, clearly in a precarious situation, still remained fearless, which secretly startled Situ Mo.
Just then, two streaks of light approached rapidly from the distance, one purple and one brown. Situ Mo's face changed abruptly, with a golden light rising beneath his feet, but a chill suddenly surged up his back as his Spiritual Sense sweep revealed a patch of blue-white sword light.
"Li Yuanjiao! They really have come together!!"
His scalp tingled with numbness as he could no longer afford to contemplate how Li Yuanjiao had managed to evade the Buddhist Practitioner's trap. As the Golden Shield was busy resisting Kong Tingyun's magic artifacts, he could only form a spell and shift several zhang away in an instant, awkwardly dodging a blow.
"Clang!"
As he dodged, avoiding a strike to the neck, the Green Ruler Sword's light slashed onto his Feather Clothing, emitting a grating sound of Mana erosion. Situ Mo's face turned from pale to green as he coughed up a perfectly round red pellet. The pellet spun around and dissipated into smoke.
'It's that move again!'
This must be some kind of movement technique, specifically meant to counteract sword lights and Dharma Light. Situ Mo had just avoided the sword and could only shout,
"Retreat immediately!"
Li Yuanjiao's sword did not wait for him, as a single redirection produced three beams of sword light that moved flexibly in different directions, aiming for his upper, middle, and lower pathways. Situ Mo, having suffered a minor loss, was prepared and displayed the vast capabilities of an Immortal Sect disciple, flipping his hand to release three Talismans that opened up three white rings, deflecting the sword light one by one.
It was clear that Situ Mo was well-prepared; the white rings emitted from the three Foundation Establishment Talismans were tender white, smooth and agile, masking some spell, not very intense but remarkably nimble, specially to handle the three-part moonlight flow.
However, this delay allowed Li Qinghong and Kongheng to catch up. While Situ Mo did not know who this valiant female cultivator was, he recognized Kongheng and could guess it was Li Qinghong. He saw the female cultivator's eyes filled with Purple Light and her Jade Armor alight with Purple Lightning.
Situ Mo could only manage to back away a bit when Li Qinghong's red lips slightly parted and her teeth moved, releasing a small purple light spot. This spot was rounded, and in an instant, it expanded to the size of a fist, flashing with white light.
Situ Mo felt his back become numb, realizing it was a powerful spell. The three Golden Shields halted their defense against the twin hooks, quickly retracting, and the Golden Blade ceased its entanglement with Kong Tingyun, swiftly returning to assist.
Kong Tingyun hurriedly activated the Jade Bead to pursue, and the monk below, both alarmed and frightened, had no idea how Li Yuanjiao had dodged his attack calculation, and since he couldn't open his mouth, could only exert all his strength to push the Golden Mountain.
Kong Tingyun couldn't help but be distracted and took a glance, pulling out a golden Talisman from her sleeve, flicking it gently, and let it drop onto that Golden Mountain.
To the monk's misfortune, despite possessing a wealth of spells himself, he was immediately suppressed by that Golden Mountain from the start. The Golden Mountain, made of an unknown material, slowed his movements and effaced his lips, and after mustering his strength to push it, Kong Tingyun's Talisman had already descended upon it.
On the Talisman, golden light flickered, and the yellowish-brown body was outlined with scarlet pen strokes, neat and orderly, with only one line of big characters written:
"One thousand six hundred and fifty-eight million catties."
Moutuo felt an overwhelming force in his hand, barely having time to let out a cry of grief, as the pale turquoise seawater burst open with thunderous roars. A golden mountain plummeted down, stirring up tumultuous waves and towering seas, lifting a hundred-foot-high wave before slowly sinking into the water.
"Boom!"
The scenery in the sky was no less spectacular, with a streak of white light exploding, and the thunder reverberating as if mountains were collapsing and the ground were splitting open. The white thunder drifted, turning into a dense, cascading mass of purple lightning, pressing down oppressively.
Situ Mo's Golden Shield, which was originally on its way back to assist, got deflected by Li Yuanjiao's swift and skillful sword, and the Golden Blade got restrained by a spell from Kongheng, leaving Situ Mo in a tight spot, with a silent golden light emanating from his chest.
"Boom!"
Amid the raging thunder, Situ Mo emerged, ash-covered and disheveled, with only a thin layer of eggshell-like golden shield left. He soared up on the wind, with five or six streaks of light coming from the two islands, confronting each other.
Situ Mo's Golden Shield ultimately was too late to arrive, suffering a hit from the Thunder Dharma head-on. With his feather clothing darkened and his chest covered in bloodstains, the several Foundation Establishment Guest Elders caught him as he rasped out,
"Let's go!"
Situ Mo felt secretly relieved for his cautiousness, but he feared an all-out attack from the market, risking their lair being taken. He did not dare to linger and hurriedly flew back on the golden light.
The group did not dare to be negligent, fearing pursuit. They swiftly retreated, and the Guest Elders of Xuan Yue Sect also came forward to greet them. Kong Tingyun said with a smile,
"Good, good, we've wasted one of his life-saving tricks and inflicted serious injuries on him, so it's not a fruitless trip!"
She looked at Li Qinghong, whose complexion was somewhat pale, and praised,
"I didn't expect my sister to possess such a formidable Thunder Dharma... quite impressive."
Although the Mysterious Thunder had been condensed in the Thunder Pool well in advance, Li Qinghong still expended a significant amount, responding with a humble smile and a gentle voice,
"It's not as effortless as your Golden Mountain."
Situ Mo, being a valued direct lineage member of Tang Jin Sect, naturally couldn't be killed in a single blow. With the advantage of time and place, this confrontation had already stunted his progress for many years. Li Yuanjiao nodded discreetly, but was more concerned about the monk, asking,
"What about the monk?"
Kong Tingyun replied,
"He's not having it any better than Situ Mo."
The group dived down, piercing through the pale turquoise sea to the seafloor, where they found the golden mountain. Kong Tingyun retracted her magic artifact and, seeing a mess of blood, carefully examined it. Pinching a few spells, she looked at Kongheng with some puzzlement.
Kongheng understood, stepping forward, closing his eyes to sense for a moment, and said solemnly,
"He has gone back to the North."
Kong Tingyun expressed her regret,
"It's just a pity that it happened at sea and not on land. He was able to escape because we were too late in touching the Earth Vein."
"He may have escaped,"
Kongheng said,
"but that body of his is ruined. Perhaps he had a backup plan in a temple in the North, taking over the body of a monk. However, his cultivation level is severely damaged, incomparable to Situ Mo. It will take him at least several decades to recover."
Buddhist Practitioners are notoriously hard to kill. Kong Tingyun never hoped to finish him off completely. Extending her delicate hand, the golden mountain reappeared, and she said with a bit of annoyance,
"The old ancestor passed down this magic artifact and talismans to me specifically to deal with these Zhao Shi. He's only the first! Sooner or later, I'll beat them back to their original forms, one by one!"
Li Yuanjiao breathed a sigh of relief and joyfully said,
"Excellent, with the monk out of the picture, we don't have to worry about hidden enemies. The threat of Situ Mo has greatly diminished!"
Only Kongheng had not exerted much effort from beginning to end and looked rather sheepish. Wiping his bald head, he looked at the others eagerly.
