Chapter 415: Chapter 228: World Purification Sect, Huijun

Henggao City is like a giant beast crouched at the foot of the Divine Mountain, with its main and side roads serving as its veins.

You Su cannot see, and his understanding of the layout of Henggao City is but the tip of the iceberg, so most places in the city are new routes to him. He has no choice but to stay close to He Kongyue as they weave through the streets.

"Mr. He, where is the headquarters of the World Purification Sect?"

"We don’t have a headquarters."

He Kongyue seemed to accommodate You Su, walking at a leisurely pace.

"No headquarters?" You Su was slightly surprised, "Without a headquarters, where are we going?"

"The World Purification Sect is just a fellowship, so naturally, there is no fixed venue. However, every member receives a Xuanji Order. Whenever there’s a task or gathering, a temporary meeting place will be notified through the Xuanji Order."

Upon hearing this, You Su frowned secretly. If this World Purification Sect were a legitimate church, why be so cautious? Were they afraid of getting caught?

But if it truly were a cult, how could it dare to operate under the shadow of the Divine Mountain?

Could it be that the most dangerous place is indeed the safest?

"So where are we heading?"

"Mr. You, just be patient. I’ll alert you when we arrive."

He Kongyue, who was about the same height as You Su, comfortingly patted You Su’s shoulder.

His fingers were delicately boned, slender and long.

Unconsciously, You Su stretched out his own fingers, noting that although Mr. He was about his height, his hands were noticeably smaller—a sign that he probably was not a swordsman.

The two walked for a long time, with You Su trying to memorize the route in his mind, but he found the path winding and circuitous, even retracing many steps.

Finally, when You Su was losing his sense of direction, He Kongyue stopped.

"We’ve arrived."

You Su quickly unfolded his Divine Sense to observe their surroundings, which were nothing like he imagined—not a dark secret room nor a secluded area outside of the city, but a bustling teahouse crowded with guests.

So all those twists and turns were to throw someone off track?

"Mr. You, don’t be nervous. The initiation ceremony is simpler than you think. Beneath the Sect Hierarch of the World Purification Sect are the Four Lords. The one reviewing you today is Lord Huijun. Just chat with her briefly and express your willingness to fight evil. With your aptitude, she will surely approve your membership."

As He Kongyue spoke, he led You Su into the bustling teahouse.

The teahouse’s name was ’Anning Building,’ and though the ground floor didn’t match the tranquil name, the three upper floors were the real reason for its fame.

The floors above were all private rooms and elegant seats, dedicated to hosting secret banquets for the dignitaries of Henggao City or Divine Mountain, with increasing secrecy the higher up you go.

Not only were the materials used excellent for soundproofing, but they were also shielded by a special array. The key was that even the building owner wouldn’t know which guests were in which rooms. The large crowd on the first floor perfectly concealed which individuals had entered and exited Anning Building, pushing secrecy to the extreme.

He Kongyue soon brought You Su to the outside of a private room.

In the empty corridor, it was just You Su and He Kongyue.

"Mr. He, aren’t you coming in?"

You Su couldn’t help but feel anxious. The Four Lords didn’t sound like ordinary people. Facing one alone, he feared unforeseen complications.

He Kongyue gave a reassuring smile, "Don’t worry, Mr. You, just maintain a calm mindset. Even if Lord Huijun rejects you, no harm will come to you. I’ll be waiting outside. Once you’re done, I’ll take you to celebrate!"

You Su clenched his fists, determined.

There’s no turning back now.

Fortunately, in his fist, he still held his greatest reliance—three jade stones given to him by the senior elder. Back in Mo Ye City, he used two, leaving only this last one.

Seeing You Su resolute, He Kongyue gently pushed the door open for him, and You Su resolutely stepped inside.

To You Su’s surprise, the room was empty.

It seemed Lord Huijun hadn’t arrived yet, so You Su could only sit himself down, waiting nervously.

You Su recalled everything he had learned about the World Purification Sect from He Kongyue’s words, feeling increasingly that this fellowship was not as simple as it seemed.

The World Purification Sect appeared to be a gathering of people with ambitions that couldn’t join the Exorcism Bureau, yet they could operate on the Divine Mountain without a permit for a long time. There must be someone of considerable status and power supporting them to keep this secretive group from exposure.

Huijun didn’t keep You Su waiting long; the tea he prepared hadn’t even boiled yet.

The sound of the door being gently pushed open interrupted You Su’s thoughts.

True to her name, the visitor wore a long grey-white dress, the hem swaying gracefully with her light footsteps.

The few glimpses of skin she revealed were as fair as jade, exuding an aura of nobility. Huijun sat down gracefully, her posture elegant, her every move carrying an inexplicable pressure that didn’t intimidate, yet commanded respect.

The only pity was her face was covered with a veil, obscuring her true appearance, save for an octopus totem painted in black on the veil.

"Hello, it’s a pleasure to meet you. Allow me to introduce myself, I am Lord Huijun, one of the Four Lords of the World Purification Sect. You may call me Huijun."

The woman’s voice was gentle and melodic, like a mountain stream trickling through rocks, or a bell in the wind gently stirring.
