Chapter 384: Chapter 376: I’m Sorry, I Was Wrong

HISSS...

A rustling, scuttling sound echoed from within the Poison Cauldron. Immediately after, a huge, grotesque figure shot out. It was an astonishing five meters long. Countless long legs lined the sides of its multi-colored body, which coiled around to encircle Guo Zijie. A pair of crimson eyes locked onto Mu Chen. From its appearance, everyone could tell at a glance—it was a giant Centipede!

"Hahaha! Mu Chen! Well done! Very well done! You’re the first person to make me this furious! So I’ve decided! I’m going to give you the most brutal death imaginable! I’ll have Feng Wu tear you limb from limb! Then he will devour you, piece by piece! Kill him!" Guo Zijie’s face twisted into the savage mask of an Evil Ghost. His bloodshot, crimson eyes flashed as he pointed a finger. Feng Wu charged toward Mu Chen! Its massive, sharp mandibles gaped wide as it lunged viciously for Mu Chen’s head!

As Feng Wu charged at him, Mu Chen gave it a disdainful glance. Now that he possessed the Calamity Divine Body, strings of text constantly flashed through his mind. He rapidly analyzed and fully deciphered the series of obscure passages.

Armed with this new information, Mu Chen grinned. He gathered the crystalline motes of light emitted by his Calamity Divine Body, focusing them in his eyes. He glared at Feng Wu and roared, "Beast! Get lost!"

BOOM! With a deafening roar, Feng Wu’s ferocious momentum came to a dead halt. Its savage expression vanished completely, replaced by utter terror, as if it had just seen the Divine Beings it worshiped. Its crimson eyes flickered rapidly, and its enormous body trembled uncontrollably less than ten meters from Mu Chen. Then, to the absolute shock of Guo Zijie and everyone watching, Feng Wu prostrated itself on the ground.

"Begone!"

With another furious roar from Mu Chen, the prostrate Feng Wu trembled even more violently. Its entire body scrambled backward until it was pressed against the light barrier created by Elder Bai. There, it coiled itself into a huge ball and hid, looking just like a small child cowering before a savage beast.

"This..." Guo Zijie’s savage expression gave way to confusion. However, his hands didn’t pause for even a second. He quickly gathered a ball of purple-black Primordial Power and blasted it toward Mu Chen!

But Mu Chen acted as if he hadn’t even seen the blast of purple-black Primordial Power. He simply extended his left hand and swatted it away as if he were slapping someone across the face!

FZZZT!

Having done that, Mu Chen stomped his foot. He blurred into a black shadow and appeared right in front of Guo Zijie, raising his right fist and slamming it into his face.

As the fist grew closer and closer, a trace of fear finally appeared on Guo Zijie’s face. ’This guy! He’s completely immune to my Poison!’

BAM! POW! CRUNCH! SMACK! THUD!

"AHHHHHH!"

A series of sickening thuds, accompanied by Guo Zijie’s blood-curdling screams, rang out across the stage. Guo Zijie had abandoned his Poison Cauldron and was fleeing for his life, but the arena was only a few thousand meters wide. Worse, it was enclosed by a barrier of Primordial Power. There was no escape!

"Help! Ah!"

"I was wrong! Ah!"

"Boss Mu Chen, spare me! I was wrong! Ahh!"

"I was really wrong..."

GULP...

Watching Guo Zijie—his face a swollen, bruised mess—slamming himself against the light barrier, the hair on the back of every spectator’s neck stood on end. When they looked back at Mu Chen, they suddenly realized this gentle, handsome-looking kid was the true Demon!

"Boss Mu Chen, I forfeit! I forfeit!" No longer able to withstand Mu Chen’s physical and mental assault, Guo Zijie finally screamed his surrender.

But upon hearing this, Mu Chen broke into a grin, his pearly white teeth glinting coldly in the sun. He let out a cold laugh. "You seem to have gotten one thing wrong."

Guo Zijie turned his head toward Mu Chen, but before he could even make out his expression, a resounding slap sent him flying into the light barrier!

"The match hasn’t started yet!" As the words fell, Mu Chen delivered another kick to Guo Zijie’s back. Only then did it dawn on Guo Zijie: Elder Bai had never given the signal to begin. He had endured this twenty-minute-plus beating for absolutely nothing!

"Elder Bai, hurry up and announce the start of the match! Ouch!"

SMACK! SMACK! SMACK! THWACK! BAM!

Of course, Mu Chen knew exactly why Guo Zijie was desperately shouting for Elder Bai to start the match. He simply raised his fists and continued to pummel Guo Zijie’s head, cheeks, and eye sockets. Guo Zijie scrambled forward, tumbling and rolling, his only thought to dodge just one more of Mu Chen’s attacks.

"Old fool! Hurry up and start the match! I need to forfeit! If I can’t forfeit now, this guy is going to kill me!!"

Guo Zijie used his Primordial Power to sprint away, screaming at the top of his lungs. Everything that happened today felt like a nightmare. ’When have I ever been this terrified? When have I ever been this helpless?!’ All he wanted was to escape the arena, return to his seat, and tell himself this was just a bad dream. ’It’s just a nightmare! When I wake up, I’ll still be the magnificent, untouchable Poison Cauldron Master, Guo Zijie!’

"Announce the start of the match!!"

A heaven-shaking roar from the stage finally snapped Elder Bai out of the stupor he had been in for the last twenty-odd minutes. Taking in the current scene, Elder Bai sucked in a sharp breath and hastily yelled, "The match begins!"

"I forfeit! I surrender! Let me out! Ah!"

"I already surrendered, why are you still fucking hitting me! Ah!"

"Brother! Ah!"

"Fuck! What the hell do I have to do for you to let me go! Ahhh!"

"Sob... Master Mu Chen! I was wrong! I truly know I was wrong! I’m begging you, let me go!"

SMACK!

Mu Chen landed another slap on Guo Zijie’s head and asked softly, "You know you were wrong? Tell me, what did you do wrong?"

Lifting his black-and-blue face, Guo Zijie nodded frantically. "I know, I know! I shouldn’t have spouted nonsense, I shouldn’t have insulted Brother Mu Chen, and I shouldn’t have said such shameless things to those two ladies! I really know I was wrong!"

Guo Zijie was genuinely terrified of Mu Chen. The punches and slaps, delivered without any Primordial Power, weren’t agonizingly painful individually, but the sheer frequency was unbearable. Moreover, Mu Chen’s intent to humiliate him was obvious. Every punch, every slap, even the kicks were aimed at his face. There’s a saying: "When you fight someone, you don’t hit their face." But this guy was *only* hitting his face! His cheeks were already gaunt to begin with, making him look skeletal. But now? After this thrashing from Mu Chen, his face had swollen to several times its normal size, making him look like a genuine fatty.

’What kind of goddamn freak is this? He’s not even scared of my poisons!’ Guo Zijie thought viciously, even as his face remained a mask of pitiful begging. Ever since he’d chosen the path of a Poison Cauldron Master, he had never suffered such humiliation. Be they stronger or weaker, all who met him cowered in fear. But now? Now he wished the ground would open up and swallow him whole.

"Heh... So you do know what you did wrong. And since you know, you should also know what needs to be done, shouldn’t you?"

"What needs to be done? I... I don’t know." Guo Zijie shook his head. ’I really don’t know how to fix this,’ he thought. ’Am I supposed to give him something? I’ve got nothing but Poisons. Who wants a bunch of Poison?!’

BAM!

"You don’t know what to do? Then what’s the point of saying you were wrong?!" Mu Chen punched Guo Zijie in the face again. The blow wasn’t heavy, but it stung sharply.

"Brother Mu Chen! Master Mu Chen! Please, just tell me what I have to do for you to let me go!" Guo Zijie begged.

"I want you to apologize to our Xuanling Empire, and to those two ladies! Remember, you will do it on your knees!" Mu Chen’s eyes were frigid, without a trace of emotion. Mu Bingling and Mo Qing were his Reverse Scale. If this weren’t the Peak of the Holy Mark, if this weren’t the imperial tournament, he would have beaten Guo Zijie to death right here and now. ’No one gets to humiliate the women I love in my presence. No one!’

"What?! You want me to get on my knees?!" Guo Zijie shot to his feet, shocked and furious. "I can apologize! But there’s no one in this world who can make me, Guo Zijie, kneel!"

Mu Chen grinned. "I do admire your persistence."

As he spoke, Mu Chen cracked his knuckles and advanced on Guo Zijie one step at a time. The sun at his back threw his face into deep shadow, and with his brilliant white teeth glinting, he looked exactly like a Demon.

"Y-Y-You... What do you think you’re doing?!"

BAM! BAM! BAM! BAM! BAM!

...

「Ten minutes later.」

An unrecognizable Guo Zijie was on his knees in the middle of the stage, shouting, "Your Ladyships, Mu Bingling and Xuan Moqing! You are magnanimous, and I am just a man with a foul mouth! I apologize for what I said earlier! I’m sorry! I was wrong!"

His voice was exceptionally loud, showing just how well he now understood Mu Chen’s methods. He had already lost all of his dignity, so what was the point in holding back? If he shouted too quietly, Mu Chen would surely make him do it again, only louder. That would be the equivalent of grinding his heel into the face he no longer possessed.
