Chapter 545: How it happened...

Axel, with his followers, appeared beyond one of the three locations that hid an extremely large undiscovered mine of the Oathbreaker stones.

As he floated in the air alongside Conner, Wangnan, and Gareth.

The Raven prince spoke respectfully, "Lord Osiris, as you can see, I have already barricaded this place with my people. This is an abandoned coal mine. Actually, it was not very difficult to take control of this land through a few of my trusted proxies."

Axel nodded. With Gareth’s mana covering their existence, the four of them swiftly stepped within the underground corridors.

Reaching the lowest point of the underground floors, Axel used his energy sense skill again. After five minutes of silence, his eyes opened, finally finding the trace of the material he had been searching for.

Axel pointed in a certain direction, and Gareth swiftly used his elemental aspect, controlling the element of Earth, as if the ground itself disassembled and opened a path for them by manifesting a well-built structure. A large cavity quite below their current spot... revealed itself.

Axel’s eyes shone in greed; he had found the first trace of it, a massive and solid slab of glittering layer of Oathbreaker stones.

But there was a distinct difference between this layer of the stones and the ones in the mine given to him by Zoromir.

The layer he was staring at now had a gray, almost dull hue.

Once the flickering balls of flame lit by Gareth, which illuminated the depths, struck the grayish layer, a soft, multicolored reflection seemed to spread.

For a brief moment, there was a noticeably silvered sheen to it. Yet it disappeared in the next few seconds, at a glance, apart from the first multi-colored phenomenon caused by the Gray Oathbreaker stones layer.

This material was utterly useless; in fact, it could not even be used in the same manner as normal Oathbreaker stones.

Axel grinned under his mask as he and his minions, including the Raven prince, wordlessly started shaving off the material, piece by piece, from the burrowing gray crystalline layer.

This time, it didn’t take them more than a day to empty all the layers of gray Oathbreaker stones from the place.

The skilled workers Conner gathered began manually moving the large gray stones extracted into safe containers.

The next day, they were able to clear away everything from the other two locations of the Gray Oathbreaker stone mines within Ravenspire.

Then with his minions, he moved onto the other minor kingdoms one by one, finding the hidden spots as well as clearing them all out as fast as possible. Zena rejoined them, though she did not bring her brother, and instead sent Zen back to the Karmann duchy for the time being.

Within only a few more days, Axel, with his minions, was done excavating every single hidden Oathbreaker stone mine, and now only one mine was left within Whitehelm.

So, he let his minions do the job, while he sat on top of a mountain, gazing at the beautiful rising sun of the dawn.

Suddenly, a figure covered in a complete hood appeared right beside him. It was Axion, the Harkan doppelganger. Beneath his covering, he was an exact copy of Axel’s own human appearance.

There were dark circles under his eyes. Revealing how overworked the poor doppelganger had been. There was a look of hatred on his face when looking towards Axel’s disguised figure. The poor copycat had been slaving away day and night without a moment of respite.

Axion said in a hateful tone, "I’m finally done making all of your shit, storage artifacts. I have also delivered them to all the mines for the transportation of the stones."

"All the quota for making the rune artifacts is also complete. If you dare tell me to do any more work, I’d rather kill myself," said the doppelganger in a resolute tone.

Axel nodded, "You can go... but stay within Suncrest out of the public eye, travel with another appearance."

Axion asked with narrowed eyes, his tone wary, "What are you planning again, you fucking demented, psychotic demon..."

Axel didn’t answer; there was a tired look in his eyes. He didn’t even look at the copy, not in the mood to entertain the alien entity.

The alien looked like he wanted to say more, but sensing Axel’s serious mood.

The Copy grumbled, throwing one last vengeful look and left,

Axel’s mind wandered as he gazed at the sun, thinking about various things.

For example, how he made his shocking entrance on the battlefield.

Because, in all honesty, Axel did not possess the power to stun thousands of third-phase seekers with the might of his own demonic energy and killing intent; no matter how special his demon bloodline was, in the end, he was still just a late 2nd-phase seeker.

Heck, even Sophia, with her monstrous killing intent, could not hope to achieve that effect.

Everything from start to finish was meticulously planned to create that shocking effect upon his arrival.

Before even the first clash of the war, Axel had gained access to a certain powerful ability originating from the Sin of Despair.

Which was called the Circle of Dread.

With a mental command, he pulled up the description of it.

[Circle of Dread: An ability that allows the user to impose a metaphysical conduit in the shape of a circle, which cannot be sensed or destroyed.

Effects -

[1] It can absorb and store all types of negative emotions and vengeful souls within a 3-kilometer radius.

[2] All the absorbed negative emotions and souls can be used as a fuel to manipulate the minds of other living beings to a limited extent.

[3] The location of the circle cannot be moved.

[4] Only one Circle of Dread can be used at a time.

[5] This ability does not have a cooldown time or a duration limit.

[6] Activation of it requires a one-time consumption of users 90% demonic energy reserves.]

Axel had first tested out this powerful ability when rescuing the six royal heirs of the Minor Kingdoms from a prison island within Blackvale. {Happened on Chapter 458}
