Chapter 1554: Side Story: Reunion
The dark sky shrouded the land, with gigantic white bones slanting deep into the soil, stretching for thousands of meters, like a staircase leading to the heavens. It’s hard to imagine what kind of creature’s death could leave such a magnificent carcass.
Around the white bones, a dense crowd of skeletons stumbled along, eyesockets flickering with faint ghostly fire, walking aimlessly, without a clear direction or objective.
A massive black shadow rose from the distant horizon, somewhat like a bone dragon, but before it could ascend higher, it was struck by a flying white bone spear and screamed as it plummeted to the ground.
Dust billowed up, and a skeletal warhorse appeared, ridden by a tall skeleton whose ghostly eye flames almost spilled over. This skeleton held a white bone spear in each of its hands, while six more arms at its back, with five of them also gripping the same kind of spear. It’s evident that the previously thrown spear was hurled by one of its empty hands.
The tall skeleton, mounted on the skeletal warhorse, quickly approached the dying bone dragon, and all its hands began to charge, ready to throw more bone spears to kill the dragon, exuding an air of fury, akin to the only god of this world.
The above scene was meticulously drawn on a piece of white paper.
The white paper lay on a table in a large room, with Eight-Armed Skeleton Anan seated in front of it, each of his eight arms holding a brush, addressing some details.
For example, was the skeleton’s head in the drawing a bit too large? Should the ghostly fire in its eyes be more intense? Should the bone dragon be more gigantic to better highlight the skeleton’s bravery...
"Rustle, rustle, rustle..."
Eight-Armed Skeleton Anan continued to draw.
"Tap, tap, tap..."
Pandora walked over, glanced at the drawing, and snatched it up.
Eight-Armed Skeleton Anan looked up at Pandora, eyes full of confusion.
Pandora replied sternly, "Stop drawing, give it up. It’s not going to happen. What, are you trying to recreate that Necro Mansi death civilization? It’s understandable for a skeleton like you to favor a world full of bones, but now we’re seeking everyone’s opinion to create a perfect new world, and submitting this is absurd."
The Eight-Armed Skeleton waved its eight arms in protest: How is it absurd? He thought it was quite good.
"Protest dismissed, alright, think again." Pandora said, unceremoniously crumpling the paper into a ball and tossing it into the corner.
On another side of the table, the Witch Demon Elder, also drawing, watched this unfold silently, collected his paper, and began a new drawing on a fresh sheet.
Meanwhile, the Magic Rune Doll Bi Bi was deeply absorbed in her own world, uninterested in external matters.
"Rustle, rustle, rustle..."
A few minutes later, Bi Bi finished drawing, picked up a thick stack of over a hundred sheets, and ran to Pandora. "Hey, Pandora, check out my idea."
Pandora took them, looked through one by one, and her brow gradually furrowed.
After viewing over a dozen, Pandora couldn’t hold back any longer and pointed at a blacked-out square on the paper, asking, "What is this?"
"A bread monster," Bi Bi replied earnestly.
"Huh?"
"The bread monster!" Bi Bi explained solemnly, "A creature entirely made of bread, completely non-threatening, but tastes great. It lives in the wild, and when we’re hungry, we can catch it to eat. If we don’t finish it, we can let it go, and it will regrow the eaten parts in a few days, then we can catch it again. How’s that?"
Pandora: "..." Her face twisted, as if suppressing something fiercely.
"So all the other stuff you drew is similar?" Pandora asked.
"Yeah," Bi Bi excitedly elaborated, "See, this one is a Sausage Monster, this one is a Milk Monster, this one is a Beef Steak Monster, and, oh—gah!"
Partway through, Bi Bi took a heavy hit on the head, yelping in pain.
Clutching her head, she looked at Pandora aggrievedly, "Why did you hit me?"
"You tell me!" Pandora said irritably, "Let me remind you again, we’re seeking constructive opinions, not random fantasies. Don’t bring me ideas like Sausage Monsters and Milk Monsters for review. Think with your brain for a bit. If it were to happen, with Sausage Monsters everywhere and Milk Monsters flowing in rivers, what would the new world look like?"
"Nothing unusual," Bi Bi insisted on her idea but got another hefty blow on the head.
"Ow, ouch!"
Bi Bi finally quieted down.
In the distance, many others at their tables also quieted down.
On the paper before Gro, it was written: I hope in the new world, I can become the most powerful person.
After witnessing Bi Bi’s incident, he quietly erased that line and replaced it with: I hope the new world is slightly better than now.
Then added: Oh, yes, in the new world, it’d be best if Nancy wasn’t there.
Just after writing, he felt a sharp gaze upon him, followed by a voice laden with killing intent: "So, you dislike me that much? Interesting, didn’t notice before. Do you lack the courage, the backbone, or both?"
"..." Gro didn’t dare to speak, watching helplessly as Nancy snatched away his paper, then crossed out the "not" in the last line, turning it into: Oh, yes, in the new world, it’d be best to have Nancy.
The paper was handed back.
Nancy gently patted Gro’s shoulder, a smile on her face full of menace, "Watch out, our matter isn’t over. I’ve been quite restrained bullying you in this world, but in the new world, heh, we’ll see."
Gro’s facial muscles twitched; he didn’t dare move a muscle.
...
Outside the room, more people were pondering and writing their own opinions.
In a lavish room, Sherlock lay on a soft bed, being fed grapes by a young maid, Lucia.
After Lucia fed a bunch of grapes, she asked, "Master, what should we write as our opinion?"
"What to write, uh... let me think..." Sherlock pondered for a whole second, then answered, "Just write ’Keep it the same.’
"Huh?"
"After all, there’s nothing to improve on, right?" Sherlock spread his hands, "At least I think our lives are already blissful enough, no need to add anything more, don’t you think? People shouldn’t be too greedy."
"Alright, then we’ll write ’Keep it the same.’
...
In a small courtyard.
In the study, Witch Cesi stared at a blank sheet on the desk, somewhat lost in thought. She thought a lot but wrote nothing.
Beside her, at a small desk, Justice Girl Naile wrote rapidly, the pencil scratching ceaselessly, occasionally showing a silly smile on her face.
Catgirl Heidi curiously glanced at Naile’s paper, hoping for inspiration, but was quickly noticed by Naile, who covered it with her hand, then sternly warned, "No peeking, write your own!"
"Alright," Heidi sighed and lowered her head, thinking hard.
...
In an attic.
"Click, click, click..."
Female Apprentice Jessica tirelessly trimmed the ever-growing green hair of Bobbobovic with large scissors.
Bobbobovic seriously observed the blank paper before him, then earnestly wrote: I wish no one in the new world grows hair.
"Teacher!" Jessica exclaimed from the side.
"Hmm?" Bobbobovic turned to Jessica, and a few seconds later realized, quickly amending it to: I wish no men in the new world grow hair. Yes, baldness sounds good.
Moments after these words were penned, the attic door was knocked on.
"Bang, bang, bang!"
The sound was heavy and forceful.
Bobbobovic opened the door curiously, only to see a tall, bald man in a red robe standing outside, looking at him and slowly speaking: "I am Abel, and I think we have some matters to discuss."
"Huh? Discuss what?" Bobbobovic was puzzled, "We’re not acquainted, are we... ah!"
He hadn’t even finished asking when he was pulled outside, followed by his screams echoing from beyond the door.
"Bang, bang, bang!"
...
In an underground hall.
Five people sat around a bone table, each with a piece of white paper in front of them.
The first was the Truth Society Supervisor Long Mei’er, dressed in a golden robe, who seriously wrote on the paper: Hope the new world has no nuclear weapons.
The second was the Truth Society General Manager Dead Sea, dressed in a white robe, who seriously wrote on the paper: Hope the new world has no traitors.
The third was the Truth Society General Manager Gray Mist, dressed in a black robe, who seriously wrote on the paper: Hope the new world has no... hmm, no sky.
The fourth was the Truth Society General Manager Red Moon, dressed in a gray robe, who seriously wrote on the paper: Hope the new world... respects the elderly.
The fifth was the Truth Society General Manager Fen Feng, dressed in a red robe, who seriously wrote on the paper: Hope the new world gives me more opportunities to shine, after all, I am the strongest general manager, bar none!
Just as the five finished writing, someone suddenly walked in, tossed a paper onto the bone table, and said unyieldingly: "Change what you’ve written to the content on this paper."
The five were startled and looked up at the newcomer, who was a very elderly man, face full of wrinkles, the True God—Gao Ge of the Truth Society.
As for the content of the paper, it was simple: The Truth Society is fine as it is, must be maintained as is.
Seeing this, the five exhibited strange expressions. Long Mei’er was the first to speak, looking at Gao Ge: "My God, actually... I somewhat hope for the new world to be rid of the Truth Society, as it’s... quite useless."
"Hmm." Dead Sea nodded, "I second that."
"I second that," Gray Mist echoed.
"I second that," Red Moon chimed in, explaining aloud, "I just want to rest well."
"I could actually write the same as you, True God," Fen Feng said somewhat differently.
Gao Ge raised his eyebrows appreciatively, looking at Fen Feng with a smile: "I knew it, you are indeed my most loyal subordinate."
"Well, my God, I haven’t finished speaking yet," Fen Feng added. "Indeed, I can write the same as you, but I have a condition."
"A condition? What condition?"
"That is, if it’s really realized, let me be the True God, and you become my subordinate. After all, I’ve served you for so long; you should give me a bit of reward, right?"
"You!" Gao Ge’s eyes widened, pointing at Fen Feng, "This is treason! You, just a dog, want to be the master! You... ah!"
Before Gao Ge could finish, he let out a scream, as Fen Feng punched him hard in the belly and then pressed him by the neck onto the table.
"My God, in the spirit of past relations, I’m giving you another chance to reorganize your words..." Fen Feng said irritably.
Gao Ge’s face turned red with frustration, looking to Long Mei’er and the others for help, but they swiftly moved away, and Red Moon even gathered the papers and pens from the table to prevent their damage.
Gao Ge: "You... you..."
...
Outside the hall, more people were writing their opinions.
Ma Qiu: I was wrong, new world please take back all my luck abilities, return them to whomever they belong.
Frank: I’m fine with everything, very satisfied with my current life, as long as the new world doesn’t take back my previous calamity abilities, they can stay with the boy.
Blood Princess Molli: May my royal bloodline endure forever, may my Sika Kingdom endure forever.
Military God Saron: May my Emperor be immortal, may my great Soma Alliance never decline, may those who oppose my country be destroyed.
Emperor Peter the Brown Bear: Actually... I’d be satisfied if my lifespan was about the same as a normal person’s, to die of old age.
Macbeth from the White Stone Tower: I hope the new world has tasty orange jam, hope the new world lets me meet her again.
Alex the Swindler from the White Stone Tower: No other wish, just for the ancestors’ peace, just for the ancestral graves not to be dug up.
Miss Annie from Saint Louis City: I hope in the new world, I can be a simple, carefree girl.
Princess Rose from the Black Holy Mountain Kingdom: I hope in the new world, I have less money, fewer fiancés, and fewer embarrassing experiences.
Lv Xi from other planes: I hope in the new world, I have lots of good friends who can join me in protecting the forest.
From the working Tin Wood: Um... the little girl named Lv Xi, can I go to your forest? I’m really tired of working.
Gregory from the forest: There’s no space left in the forest, don’t come, unless you can bring back my kidnapped daughter.
Pandora from reviewing numerous suggestions: I’m busy, don’t bother me, or else I’ll kill you all, at your own risk.
Tin Wood: Okay, I won’t go to the forest, can’t I? I suspect you did this on purpose.
Martin Luther King, Arthur Osheimer, Robert Albert, Di Gu: Say a few less words, we haven’t spoken yet...
Countless ordinary people from various other places... John, Johnson, Bob, Hans: Us, and us too, we want to speak too...
Where there are people, there is conflict.
"Hans, how dare you write that when we reach the new world, you’ll marry my wife?!"
"She’s pretty after all."
"She’s pretty, but she’s my wife, stop dreaming."
"Tsk, she’s only your wife in this world, in the new world, it depends on whether she wants to or not."
"I don’t care, change it immediately, if you don’t, I’ll write that in the new world your mom becomes my daughter and I’ll be your grandpa!"
"Hmm? If my mom’s your daughter, you should be my maternal grandfather, right?"
"Then I’ll be your maternal grandfather."
"Get lost! I didn’t agree, shut up!"
"Then you change it first!"
"No change!"
"Then I won’t shut up, I’ll both be your grandpa and maternal grandfather."
"Then I’ll beat you, take this punch!" said the man named Hans as he kicked the other man in the face, and the two quickly started brawling.
Similar situations were happening in many places.
...
A tall mountain.
Richard sat on a rock at the mountain top, squinting at the distant horizon as if seeing everything in the world, his face adorned with a smile.
"Tap tap tap..."
Footsteps approached as Corey climbed up behind Richard, standing beside him, and reminded Richard: "Hey, aren’t you going to do something? Due to collecting opinions, many people in your world are fighting."
"Let them fight, I’ve already restricted their fighting abilities; nothing serious will happen."
"That’s exactly what I mean, this kind of fighting won’t result in death, how boring."
Richard: "..."
Turning to look at Corey, he asked: "You seem quite free? Have you finished creating your new world?"
"How could that be?" Corey said self-mockingly, "It’s only been a short while; I haven’t even put together a framework yet. I’ve realized that creating a world isn’t as easy as imagined, it takes a long, long time to think through even a small detail. The more you pursue perfection, the more painful it is. How about you, at what stage is your world creation?"
"Soon, soon," Richard answered, standing up and squinting at the distant horizon, his smile broadening; he used to rarely smile, but now he was smiling more and more.
He laughed as he spoke: "Just wait a while longer, and you’ll see the new world I’m creating. Believe me, while it won’t be absolutely perfect, it will definitely be beautiful."
"Alright, I’ll look forward to it, looking forward to visiting your new world next time."
"Hmm, see you then."
"See you."
