Chapter 1544: Chapter 1542: Temptation

After a long while, Abel, sitting on the ground, lowered his hands from his scalp and looked at Richard. His voice became a bit hoarse as he asked, "Are you saying that the entire Ancient Wizard Civilization, and every cataclysm it went through, were all man-made?"

"It’s possible. At least, I think the five spells on the scroll can explain why you couldn’t prevent the catastrophe on this plane." Richard analyzed rationally, "Initially, you believed that the spells caused the plane’s disaster, and that’s not wrong, but it wasn’t your experimental spells, it was spells secretly experimented by someone else. So no matter what you did, you couldn’t affect the disaster."

"But..." Abel’s facial muscles twitched, full of confusion, "But how did these five spells on the paper come about?"

"That’s something you have to answer."

"Me?"

"Yes, you." Richard said, "I want to ask you, are you sure you were the first to use Autai’s Brain to search for the Ultimate Spell?

Before, you told me that after Autai’s Brain was created, it was used to connect with other planes and process large amounts of data. Then, can you be sure that while processing data, no one stole part of its computing power to calculate other things?

Also, you mentioned that after the white light cataclysm, Autai’s Brain was idle for a period. Can you be certain it was truly idle, or was it still in use without being discovered?

Finally, when you used Autai’s Brain to search for the Ultimate Spell, was everyone really helping you, working for you? Was it truly you who was in charge of everything, or... was there someone else?"

"This..." Abel’s expression shifted several times upon hearing this, then he sighed after a few seconds and said, "Perhaps you’re right, I might not have been the first to use Autai’s Brain to find the Ultimate Spell.

Upon careful recollection, I remember there was someone, the administrator of Autai’s Brain, who was responsible for its maintenance and operation from the beginning, fully capable of doing what you said about stealing computing power. Come to think of it, he agreed to let me use Autai’s Brain rather too easily. It wasn’t so much that I asked for his support, but more like he was waiting for me to approach him."

Pressing his lips, Abel said, "In that case, doesn’t it mean everything I’ve done is just retracing someone else’s path? That person already found the Ultimate Spell I wanted to find, and there are five of them, and three have been tested. So what is the meaning of everything I’ve done from the start?"

After speaking, Abel’s face was full of self-deprecation and bitterness.

Richard spoke up, "I think what you’ve done still has meaning. After all, if it weren’t for your efforts, if you hadn’t continued running Autai’s Brain, I wouldn’t have been found by you, and it would have been difficult to discover the five spells on the scroll.

You indeed followed a path others have taken before, and you were several steps behind, but precisely because of this, it means you have time to switch to another path.

The three spells tested so far had devastating effects, proving they are not the correct Ultimate Spells. The third one might have even killed the person who experimented with it, leading to the concealment of the scrolls until now.

This is a lesson, a precious experimental result obtained at a great cost. From the results, it can be confirmed that this path is indeed very dangerous and requires a change in approach and method.

I currently have an idea that I can discuss with you—rather than searching for and testing suspicious spell combinations one by one, why not put effort into analyzing the components of each spell, in other words, analyze the language that the Creator, the Creator God, used to construct the rules of this world. If we successfully analyze it, we can create the spells we need ourselves, achieving the desired results. This is the true method of understanding the truth of the world, the real method of mastering everything, and the safe route."

After hearing these words, Abel looked at Richard with some surprise, clearly moved. But turning around thinking about his own prolonged effort amounting to nothing, his heart, hit hard, could not completely recover.

Taking a deep breath, Abel looked at Richard and said hoarsely, "I admit you’re right, but even so, I still need some time to digest what happened today, so let me be quiet for a while. I want to be alone."

With that, Abel turned and walked towards the outside of Autai’s Brain, his tall silhouette looking very desolate at that moment.

Richard could somewhat understand Abel’s feelings. After all, anyone who discovers their entire life’s efforts for a particular purpose are worthless might go mad.

That said, even if he understands, he can’t force the other to change his mind. Whether the other will really figure it out and step off the beaten path to join him on a new journey is uncertain for now.

But regardless, he will firmly walk his path.

Thinking of this, Richard withdrew his gaze from the scroll in his hand, lingering for a while on the last two spells.

The two spells were undoubtedly very tempting to him, after all, these could be spells with the potential to affect the entire world. He felt an impulse to recite those two spells and see what magical effects they might have.

However, out of rationality, he ultimately held back.

He indeed could recite those two spells, but he absolutely must not do it now. Only after fully understanding the meaning of the spells and their effects should he proceed, or else the fate of the person who wrote these five spells could very well be his fate.

Moreover, if he recklessly recited the spells now, wouldn’t that mean he was walking the same old path as the owner of the five spells and Abel?

So he definitely couldn’t choose that.

Shaking his head, Richard carefully put away the scroll and began to inspect the entire interior of Autai’s Brain, looking for any remaining malfunctions and hidden dangers.

Just after taking a few steps, he saw an area on the right side of Autai’s Brain emitting an abnormal humming.

Is it overloaded?

Richard approached to conduct further checks when suddenly an arc of electricity flashed from a region on the left side of Autai’s Brain.

Energy overflow? Double malfunction?

Richard furrowed his brows, considering whether to let Autai’s Brain shut down in a small range for proper repairs, when suddenly he discovered numerous parts of Autai’s Brain continuously sprouting sparks and thick smoke, with creaking and twisting sounds coming from all directions.

This is...

Richard’s brows knitted tightly, realizing that the situation was more serious than imagined.

What on earth is happening?

"Bang bang bang!"

Muffled explosions sounded from the edge of Autai’s Brain, wide patches of flames burst out, and in no time at all, half of Autai’s Brain was engulfed in the flames. It seemed as though even if he gave it his all, there would be a heavy loss.

It seems like... external pressure on Autai’s Brain, causing a chain of failures... Richard gradually saw some clues, pressing his lips as he pondered.

From the outside... didn’t Abel just leave?
