Chapter 987: A Solution?

Meanwhile, back in Aurora inside the academy’s secret realm, Michael could be seen surrounded by what looked to be a broken apartment. Above him were several flying figures, and in front of them were two who especially gave off strong auras.

They were Director Lin and Director Arven respectively.

Just a moment ago a surge of mana had erupted from Michael’s surroundings, immediately alarming many experts throughout the school.

It couldn’t be helped. Though Michael’s mana and aura were pure, it did nothing to diminish his dark element oppressive nature. Thanks to Michael’s current power, the outburst was particularly frightening in magnitude.

"Michael, what happened?" Director Arven asked from above. Though his expression remained calm, he was particularly surprised. When had this young man grown so strong again? That initial burst of mana from Michael now did not look too far removed from what early stage Rank 4 supernaturals could output.

Director Lin beside him was equally surprised, though she was just as annoyed. Did this fellow not know how to control his power at all?

What annoyed her further was that in a few hours they would finally begin their attack on the demonic faction. In fact they should have started earlier, but several matters had delayed them. Michael’s outburst at such a sensitive time left her somewhat irritated.

However, neither she nor the others could bring themselves to be truly angry when they saw the look on Michael’s face.

It was completely flat, yet it carried an extremely chilling quality.

Soon a trace of emotion appeared on Michael’s face. To be honest, he hadn’t wanted to cause such a large outburst. It was just that the shock from the Land of Origin had been particularly deep, and since this body had been deep in meditation, his control had been somewhat loose.

A single burst of mana had been enough to destroy everything. Meanwhile in the Land of Origin, only his mana had leaked from the shock but since his consciousness was fully active then there was some restraint.

For several seconds, silence lingered in the ruined area. The surrounding academy experts remained tense. Even now, many of them still felt lingering fear from the burst of aura earlier, especially the Rank 3 instructors.

Director Arven observed Michael carefully. Then his gaze swept briefly over the destroyed apartment.

"...You really know how to make trouble," he said with a smile.

Michael finally reacted as a trace of emotion appeared on his face. The coldness in his eyes remained, though it had become somewhat restrained.

"I’m sorry, sir."

Floating beside Arven, Director Lin’s expression eased slightly.

Truthfully, with Michael’s current talent and importance, nobody truly intended to heavily punish him over something like property destruction. Especially since this clearly felt like an accident.

Director Arven waved his hand casually. "Forget it."

His expression became more serious afterward. "What happened?"

Michael remained silent for a second, then shook his head lightly. "I need to do something outside the academy. I’d like to request an absence."

Director Arven and Director Lin exchanged brief glances. Several thoughts immediately surfaced within their minds.

Something had clearly happened outside that Michael could sense, but what was capable of affecting him to this extent? Was it related to his family? After all, this junior seemed to care greatly about them.

Director Arven narrowed his eyes slightly. "...Are you in trouble?"

Michael immediately answered. "No."

Hearing his answer, Director Arven remained silent briefly before finally nodding. "You can leave."

However, before Michael could speak, Director Arven continued calmly, "But don’t stay away too long." 𝒇𝒓𝒆𝒆𝙬𝒆𝒃𝓷𝒐𝓿𝙚𝙡.𝒄𝓸𝒎

His gaze swept across the destroyed surroundings again. "And when you return, you’d better prepare yourself to pay for the damages."

Director Lin immediately snorted coldly beside him. "The academy isn’t responsible for cleaning up your mess every single time."

Despite her annoyed tone, there was no true hostility inside it. Michael naturally understood this.

He lowered his head slightly. "...Thank you."

Director Arven waved his hand again. "Hurry up and deal with whatever it is."

Michael nodded faintly. Then spatial ripples quietly spread around him, and a second later his figure disappeared from the ruined area completely.

Moments later Michael could be seen in the outside world, making his way rapidly toward Brightgate City.

Even though his mind was still somewhat unsettled, concerning Arianne’s death only one name came to mind.

Jester.

He wasn’t even sure why he had immediately thought to look for Jester. But seeing Arianne meet such a miserable end, likely because of him, made him extremely uncomfortable.

Back in the Land of Origin, after calming down, his first thought had been to revive her as an undead. But this was not true revival.

What would come forth from such an action would be an undead bearing no real connection to Arianne aside from appearance. It was only a head too, and even if his talent could give her a new body it still wouldn’t be Arianne.

It was then that Michael had thought of Jester.

Surely Jester would know what to do given both his own wisdom and the memories inherited from Li Fan. Though Michael could likely replicate whatever Jester could do at this point, he knew that when it came to matters like this, unless he wasn’t particularly concerned about the result, he was far from Jester’s level.

Meanwhile back in the Land of Origin, Michael could be seen sitting on a throne chair with a head in his hand, staring down at a particular figure.

The figure was expensively dressed in fine robes, but right now he was covered in sweat. From his exposed trousers, a strange yellow liquid dripped from between his legs.

A look of absolute terror was plastered across his face.

"Please have mercy!!!! I beg of you, please have mercy!!! I don’t want to die!!! Please!!! I don’t want to die!!!"

The wretched figure trembled violently as he stared up at Michael in horror.

Who was this madman?

He had appeared just a few minutes ago and asked for who the envoy of the ship was. Before anyone could react, their bodies froze. Then, one by one, the heads of the five people with him in the meeting hall had exploded.

Now he was the only one left.

Who was this madman?!
