Chapter 175: Ch-175: Plea for Help
Rina and Emily looked at Eleanor’s projection with horror and apprehension, and Rina could not help but ask again, "How many did you say?"
"Elder Sister, we are surrounded by at least a hundred thousand undead," Eleanor said with a sigh, and the next moment, an image of their territory surrounded by a massive army came into view.
"Heavens..." Rina directly fell onto her buttocks as she looked at the army.
Victor’s eyes suddenly narrowed as he looked at the projection and could not help but ask, "Hey, are those humans among the army?"
"What humans?" Amber, hearing Victor’s words, also looked closely at the projection, and her expression changed.
"That sigil... that’s the sigil of those Brightflame bastards." Emily’s face turned ugly when she recognized the army’s sigil.
Eleanor asked with a frown, "What are they doing with the undead, and why are the undead not attacking them?"
"Brightflames? Are they also a Duchy like you? From the rumors I heard, weren’t you on good terms with them? Why does it seem like they came to attack?" Amber asked as she looked at Rina.
"Snort. Duke Brightflame was trying to marry me to his pig of a son so that they could swallow the Hall Duchy, as I was the heir. Of course, my father rejected it. Looks like they are trying to use this opportunity to devour the Hall Duchy." Rina’s face flushed with anger as she could already guess their intentions.
"Indeed, Sister, you are right. Duke Brightflame made some deal with the undead. The Brightflames would get the territory of the Hall Duchy, while the residents would be turned into undead soldiers for the undead leader," Eleanor said with hatred in her voice.
"Those bastards..." Rina’s fists clenched, while Victor on the side did not seem surprised, as in the past such incidents had occurred.
Many nobles had made deals with other races to usurp and kill their lieges by bargaining with undead and other races, and it worked—except for the undead. The undead were the enemy of all races and possessed an inherent desire to consume all life. In simpler terms, even if they helped the Brightflame Duchy, they would later stab them in the back. Only then did everyone realize that the undead were never meant to be allies of the living.
Eleanor’s projection calmly watched her elder sister’s reaction, and then her eyes fell on Victor, who was watching silently.
"Baron Victor, I would like to ask for a favor... in fact, this was the main reason I even contacted my sister," the magical holographic projection of Eleanor looked at Victor and said.
"Hmm?" Not only Victor, but the others also looked at Eleanor with raised eyebrows.
"What kind of favor exactly?" Victor asked, though he already had a good guess about the request.
"I would appreciate it if you would come to the Hall Duchy with your army and help us."
As Eleanor’s words fell, everyone looked surprised, especially Emily, who frowned for a second but did not retort, and Rina, who looked at Victor expectantly.
Eleanor, Rina, and Emily all knew how powerful Victor was, and his army, equipped with the powerful Mechs, could easily rival or even surpass the top Duchies in terms of military might.
Seeing Victor remain silent and frown, Rina and Eleanor felt their hearts sink into their stomachs, thinking that he did not want to help.
In truth, Victor was calculating how many days were left until the game updated and how long it would be before his territory was attacked by the undead.
[Time Left for Game Update: 101 Hours]
"Hmm, I should be able to return before the game updates, as my army does not need to rest while marching thanks to the Mechs," Victor pondered as he rubbed his chin.
Rina, seeing Victor still not responding, thought of something and, with a red face, said something that made everyone’s eyes nearly pop out.
"Victor, if you help the Hall Duchy, I am willing to marry you, and as a result, you will have the support of the Hall Duchy in the future for your endeavors," Rina said, and everyone immediately turned to look at her.
"What!" Emily’s and Eleanor’s mouths hung open as their jaws nearly dropped to the ground. They could not believe what she was saying. Even Victor looked at her with a strange expression on his face.
’Hmm, this woman is bolder than me... wait, maybe not,’ Amber thought inwardly as she looked at the woman in surprise. She did not expect her to throw out such a proposal.
"Well, I am flattered by your words, Miss Rina, but you don’t need to force yourself like this, and I never said I wouldn’t help you," Victor said as he rolled his eyes. He would be lying if he said he was not interested, but now was not the time.
"What? You will help?" Rina said excitedly as she looked at Victor.
’Damn, could you not have said this earlier... this is embarrassing,’ Rina cried out inwardly, though there was also a strange sense of loss.
"Good, then I will see you later," Eleanor said as she immediately disconnected the call.
"I will prepare the army," Victor said to Rina.
"Ah, right. I also wanted to buy some Mechs to equip the army. Can you sell me the ones that your army uses?" Rina asked as she pushed away her embarrassment and looked at Victor.
"I can’t sell you the most advanced ones, but if you are fine with it, I can sell you the older model," Victor said with a raised eyebrow.
Even though Rina expected this, she still felt a little disappointed and nodded.
"That’s fine."
"Okay, I will go and prepare," Victor said as he departed along with Amber.
After Emily saw them leave, she looked at Rina with a strange expression and could not help but ask, "Miss Rina, were you really willing to marry him for his support if he refused?"
Emily immediately saw Rina’s ears turn red, and she did not reply for a few seconds. Then she turned toward Emily and said in a calm voice,
"Yes, why wouldn’t I? I don’t see any problem. Ahem... he is extremely handsome, possesses an overpowered bloodline, is more powerful than a few Duchies, and has tremendous potential for future growth."
Emily wanted to open her mouth to say something, but no words came out.
