Chapter 161: Ch-161: Spiders (2)
"Miss Rina!" Emily shouted in terror upon seeing this. At first, she had been angry at Victor’s wanton behavior and had cursed him for embracing Rina, but now she was relieved—otherwise Rina would have been crushed like a balloon if the monster had landed on her.
[Royal Spider Guard]
[Tier: 4]
[Level: 401]
[Drops: Tier 4 Core (0.1%), Poison Mist Skillbook (0.005%), Tier 3 Knight Summoning Contract x10 (Origin Bloodline Exclusive) (0.0001%), Soul Fragments x50 (King of Darkness and Soul Bloodline Exclusive) (0.0001%)]
"Tier 3 Knights..." Victor’s eyes widened. He only had Edward as a Tier 2 subordinate, while the rest were still fighting monsters to advance their tiers. Even though, like Warlocks, they did not need to pass advancement quests, they were still difficult and time-consuming for ordinary people.
"Scree! You look quite strong!" the Royal Spider Guard spoke, baring her sharp teeth in visible excitement.
Though she had not attacked, her malicious aura of excitement already petrified Emily and Rina on the spot. Facing such killing intent at close range made them realize how weak they truly were.
"T-Tier 4..." Rina’s body trembled in fear as she looked at the creature in horror.
As for Emily, she stood beside Rina so she could protect her from any sudden attack from the malicious creature.
Sweat covered her forehead, as she had never encountered such a terrifying existence before. Just its aura alone made her legs feel weak.
’It should be the Royal Guard that attacked us.’ What terrified her even more was that if even a Royal Guard was this powerful, then how terrifying would the King and Queen—whom she had sensed—be?
Looking at the creature, the Royal Spider Guard, devoid of all emotion, Victor could tell it saw him only as prey to be played with and tested against for amusement.
"Make some distance," Victor said, looking at Rina and Emily. They frowned, not fully understanding, but still obeyed and stepped aside.
"Prey, do you think you can stop me?" the soldier said with a smile.
"Spider, your thinking is wrong. Stop seeing yourself as a predator—you are just prey," Victor muttered as black lightning began to crackle.
"This... I recognize this mana signature!" Rina cried out in disbelief. She immediately recognized him and shouted, "You are that guy from the auction!"
"What?! It’s that disrespectful guy!" Emily also widened her eyes in shock. She remembered him as a wealthy guest who had outbid Rina at the auction, and also the rude man who had failed to show Rina proper respect.
"Eh, you recognized me."
Victor looked surprised for a brief moment, blinking in mild astonishment, but then he quickly resumed what he was doing and muttered,
"Jörmungandr Serpent Knight Armor."
In the next second, a white armor appeared on his body out of thin air, and the vegetation nearby and beneath his feet began to wither at the very instance.
"What is this?" Emily said as she jumped a couple of meters backward and looked at the armour with alarm.
"Scree, you have become more dangerous," the spider said with narrowed eyes and her killing intent exploded violently directed at Victor.
"Moonlight Steps."
"Moonlight Slash."
Saying this, Victor’s figure blurred as he transformed into Lightning.
The next moment, he appeared before the spider royal guard and slashed his sword at the latter, imbuing his sword strike with black lightning.
"Bang!"
’How is this possible? How can a Tier 1 harm a Tier 4? Even my father would have trouble...’
Rina’s eyes nearly popped out of their sockets when she saw that the Royal Spider Guard was thrown backwards due to the attack of a Tier 1.
She had not expected Victor to be strong enough to fight it head-on.
Victor’s attack did not injure the spider much, but it only further ignited her fighting intent.
An overwhelming, extremely ominous aura erupted from her. Using her legs as a springboard, she pounced toward him.
Her menacing presence forced Emily and Rina to keep their distance from the battle.
"Scree, die!" the soldier shouted with an excited smile on her face, but the next moment her smile froze.
Clang!
"How come?" she felt her claws tremble; they could not penetrate the armor. Her expression then turned even fiercer as she opened her mouth and spat purple liquid onto the armor.
"Scree, this is my venom. It can even melt Tier 4 bodies," she said excitedly, waiting for the armor to corrode. But a few seconds passed and nothing happened. She thought, ’How come nothing is happening?’
"Are you surprised why nothing is happening?" Victor’s voice came from within the armor, and the spider looked at him warily. Victor continued, "It is because my armor nullifies all poison-based attacks."
"What!" the spider exclaimed, but in the next moment Victor turned into a streak of lightning and appeared right in front of her, directly stabbing his sword into the spider’s body.
Then a heart-wrenching scream rang through the forest.
"AHHHHHH!"
Rina and Emily looked at the soldier and saw her trying to remove the sword embedded in her body, but to no avail.
Soon her body began to turn purple, indicating she had been poisoned.
"This is true poison," Victor said in a mocking tone as he watched the spider’s body begin to melt, until it turned into a gooey substance.
"Disgusting," Victor said as he picked up his sword from the ground.
Gulp.
Both Rina and Emily swallowed hard as they looked at Victor.
Victor did not pay them much attention as a new row of text appeared in his retina.
