Lady Utopia was a force to be reckoned with. She raised her shield with her left arm, deflecting a demon’s clawed swipe. With her right arm, she thrust her sword forward, the blade piercing through the demon’s heart.

She then pulled the sword back in a swift motion, blood arcing through the air. Spinning on her heel, she brought her shield up to bash another demon in the face, shattering its jaw. Her sword followed with a horizontal slash that decapitated the creature, its head tumbling to the ground.

The three of them pushed forward, cutting a path through the demon horde. The knights followed their lead, their spirits lifted by the arrival of their heroes. The tide of battle began to shift as the humans fought back as hard as they could, driving the demons back inch by inch.

Evan glanced at Mina, their eyes meeting for a brief moment in the midst of the chaos. Her expression was steeled, and he could see the fire of resolve burning in her eyes. He nodded to her, a silent promise that they would see this through together. Explore more adventures at freewebnovel

"Mina, focus on the larger groups!" Evan shouted over the din of battle. "I’ll take care of the one that appears to be leading them."

Mina nodded, her hands weaving magic circles in the air as she prepared her next spell. A massive fireball formed between her palms, its heat could even be felt even from a distance. She hurled it into a dense cluster of demons, the resulting explosion sending a shockwave through their ranks.

Evan turned his attention to a towering demon, its grotesque body towering over the battlefield. With a roar, he charged forward, his sword raised high. The demon swung a massive claw at him, but he sidestepped to his right, narrowly avoiding the blow.

With a swift upward slash, he severed the demon’s arm at the elbow, black ichor spraying from the wound. The demon howled in pain, but Evan pressed the attack, leaping forward and driving his sword through the creature’s chest. The blade pierced its heart, and the demon fell, lifeless.

Lady Utopia joined him, her shield raised to deflect another demon’s attack. She stepped forward, her sword flashing in a tight arc that sliced through the demon’s throat. Blood sprayed, and the creature gurgled before collapsing. With a powerful kick, Utopia sent another demon stumbling back, then followed with a downward slash that split its skull.

As the demon leader fell, the remaining demons hesitated, their resolve wavering. Sensing the shift, Utopia raised her sword high, her voice ringing out above the battlefield.

"Knights of the Holy church, press the attack! For the kingdom!"

The knights surged forward with ferocity, their battle cries echoing across the field. The demons, now leaderless and disorganized, began to falter under the relentless assault.

Mina, her magic now focused on the retreating demons, launched spell after spell, ensuring that none would escape to regroup. She raised both hands, summoning a massive wave of ice shards that shot forward, impaling demons and freezing them in place. Her eyes looked around the battlefield, taking in the sight of their enemies being driven back.

"We’re turning the tide!" she called out, her voice filled with excitement.

Evan, breathing heavily from the exertion, nodded. "We can’t let up now. We need to secure the border."

Lady Utopia joined them, her armor stained with demon blood but her eyes alight with her resolve. "Well fought, both of you. But this is only the beginning. We must hold the line until reinforcements arrive."

Evan sheathed his sword, his gaze sweeping over the battlefield. "Agreed. We need to fortify our positions and prepare for another wave. Mina, can you set up defensive wards?"

Mina nodded, already moving to begin her work. "Leave it to me."

As she began to weave protective spells around their position, Evan and Utopia coordinated with the knights, ensuring that their defenses were solid and their wounded were cared for.

As the battle subsided, the knights turned their attention to the wounded, their faces grim as they tended to their comrades. Most of them had the clear signs of the demon’s curse – purple cracks creeping across their skin, their breaths ragged and shallow.

Under normal circumstances, they should have succumbed to the curse long ago, their bodies consumed by its effects. But here, in the presence of the heroes, their condition seemed to stabilize, the aura of their blessin from the goddess surrounding Evan, Mina, acting as a shield against the curse’s effects.

Mina approached the injured, her hands glowing with healing magic. She moved from one knight to another, her touch soothing their pain and slowly closing their wounds. With each spell she cast, she could feel the dark energy of the curse resisting her mana, but she pressed on.

"These spells will suppress the effects of the curse for now," she explained to Lady Utopia, her voice grave. "But we need to find a way to counteract its influence permanently."

Lady Utopia nodded, her expression troubled. "Indeed. As it stands, we are fighting a losing battle. The knights may be able to hold the line for a time, but without a solution to the curse, our forces will eventually be depleted."

Evan joined them, his gaze scanning the battlefield. "We can’t just sit here and wait for the inevitable," he said, his voice firm. "There must be a way to break the curse, to free our men from it."

Utopia sighed, her shoulders sagging with exhaustion. "I fear that may be easier said than done, Evan. The demon’s curse is a potent magic, one that has plagued our forces for far too long. Many have sought a solution, but none have succeeded."

Mina frowned, her mind racing with possibilities. "Perhaps there’s a way to disrupt the source of the curse," she suggested, her eyes alight with seriousness. "If we can locate the demon responsible for casting it, we may be able to weaken or even break the curse entirely."
