Chapter 19: Chapter 16: Toxic, Use with Caution
After paying, the sales associate began to explain the daily maintenance of his Patek Philippe, and Su Ran listened very intently.
A half-million-yuan dream naturally had to be cherished.
At first, the sales associate had been a bit haughty. After all, she worked for Patek Philippe; she had the right to be proud. However, as she got to know the young Mr. Su, she saw how handsome he was. Sitting close to explain things gave her a chance to admire his features. He was the clean-cut, well-behaved type of boy, and her tone softened considerably.
The sales associate brought a form over and slid it in front of Su Ran.
"Mr. Su, since you’re so fond of Patek Philippe, please fill out this VIP membership application. I’ll help you send it to our headquarters in Switzerland for review. Once it’s approved, you’ll unlock the right to purchase many of our commemorative edition watches, based on your spending Level."
Su Ran thought about it. The one he was wearing now was a basic model. If he wanted to buy other styles in the future, just having money wouldn’t be enough; he’d need to be a member. So, he picked up a pen and began to fill out the application. As for whether it would be approved, that was another matter entirely.
Over in the lounge area, Liu Jinyu and Xiao Wanqing were eating fruit and pastries, patiently waiting for Su Ran. They weren’t bored in the slightest. Sitting inside the Patek Philippe Mansion, the very air seemed to reek of extravagant wealth. The other customers walking by were all rich individuals worth at least ten million, so this was a rare opportunity to be savored.
"Hey, Jinyu, look at that long-legged sales associate in the black nylons. You think she’s got her eyes on your bratty little brother?"
Liu Jinyu glanced over and saw that Xiao Wanqing was right.
"What nonsense are you spouting? Shh! Stop it. If anyone hears, they’ll think we aren’t proper ladies."
Xiao Wanqing looked at Liu Jinyu’s blushing face, which had been that way for most of the day. Taking her friend’s arm, she glanced toward Su Ran and murmured, "Jinyu, what are your real feelings about Su Ran?"
Liu Jinyu answered honestly, "What feelings could I have? I really don’t have any. He’s just a bratty little brother."
"I can’t understand your Chongqing dialect. Speak Mandarin."
"I mean, right now I don’t have the kind of feelings for him you’re imagining. You know I’m not boy-crazy like Aina, who drools over every guy she sees."
"Oh... So not right now. But what about in the future?"
"Duh, I’m not made of stone. If we hit it off and I develop feelings, of course I’ll like him. But..." Liu Jinyu propped her chin on her hand, pondering for a moment. "But that bratty little brother Su Ran is just too... Zen. I don’t think I’d be able to handle him."
"’Zen?’ Hah. That’s a luxury propped up by a mountain of cash. Who would dare to live a ’Zen’ life without money?"
"Ugh, you don’t get it. To put it simply—Su Ran is poison. Girls should approach with caution."
"Tch. Aren’t you just saying that for my benefit? Warning me not to get any ideas about your bratty little brother."
"I am not!"
"Relax, I, Xiao Wanqing, won’t steal your man. But as for Yiren and Aina... I can’t make any promises."
"..."
A moment later, Su Ran returned wearing his half-million-yuan Patek Philippe, and the two women immediately composed themselves.
"What were you two chatting so happily about?"
Liu Jinyu blurted out, "Lollipops." Xiao Wanqing snorted and nearly choked, then burst into a fit of giggles.
"So you want lollipops, huh? Let’s go, I’ll buy you some."
"I don’t want any. You can just feed your Sister Jinyu."
Xiao Wanqing smirked mischievously, and Liu Jinyu gritted her teeth.
Su Ran asked, "You really don’t want one?"
Liu Jinyu’s face flushed. "I don’t want one! Let’s go."
Xiao Wanqing laughed. "Hahaha... Oh, Su Ran, Su Ran. I’m starting to see that you just act all proper and innocent, but you’re not so innocent after all."
Su Ran let out a snort of laughter but quickly cut it off. He wasn’t an idiot; of course he knew what they were really talking about.
"Let’s go."
The sales associate escorted the Patek Philippe’s new owner to the door and watched the Mercedes-Benz GLA depart. She wasn’t particularly shocked; Patek Philippe’s clientele were all high-rollers. Every watch, especially the commemorative editions, was typically snatched up the instant it was released.
That’s just the power of the king of watches, Patek Philippe.
It was quiet in the car.
From the front seats, Liu Jinyu and Xiao Wanqing watched Su Ran in the back through the rearview mirror.
He had just graduated high school. He was only eighteen, yet he was already financially independent and wearing a Patek Philippe.
It was enough to make you sick with envy.
The more Xiao Wanqing looked at Su Ran, the more handsome she found him. He looked especially cool when he paid—spending half a million like it was five bucks, without even batting an eye. ’So damn cool!’
’Sigh... Maybe I should go on a trip and pick up a bratty little brother like him for myself~’
’It’s great that Su Ran is rich, but that has nothing to do with me. I’ve never thought about trying to get anything out of it for myself.’
"Su Ran, is there anywhere else you want to go?"
Liu Jinyu asked. Xiao Wanqing nodded in agreement. "Right, where do you want to go?"
The look in both their eyes was very telling, as if to ask, ’You’ve bought the Patek Philippe... what’s next on the shopping list?’
Staring at his phone, Su Ran said casually, "Let’s go to Tangchen Yipin."
"What?"
SCREECH—
Xiao Wanqing slammed on the brakes, causing Su Ran to fly forward and hit the back of the passenger seat. He sat up, rubbing his lower back. "Sister Wanqing, what was that for? You nearly shook my kidneys loose."
"Sorry, sorry! I just got a little excited. A-Are you sure? You’re going to Tangchen Yipin to buy a house?"
The implications were terrifying.
’What kind of god-tier pretty boy is this guy?’
Staying in a presidential suite for tens of thousands a night, wearing a Patek Philippe worth hundreds of thousands, and now he was off to buy an apartment at Tangchen Yipin worth tens of millions?
Liu Jinyu was equally stunned. "Su Ran, are you sure?"
"???"
Seeing their expressions, Su Ran understood what they were thinking.
"Jeez, where are your heads at? When did I ever say I was buying a place at Tangchen Yipin? I just found a milk tea shop on my phone with five-star reviews on a street near there. I was going to treat you guys."
Liu Jinyu bit her lip, glaring at Su Ran with mock resentment. "You were just messing with us, weren’t you? Getting a kick out of our country-bumpkin reactions? Believe it or not, I’m going to strangle you, you little brat."
Su Ran replied, "No, no, no, it’s a misunderstanding."
Xiao Wanqing chuckled. "Let’s skip the milk tea. It’s almost dinnertime, so let’s eat first. Jinyu, call those two little bitches and tell them to head out."
"’Little bitches’?" Su Ran was puzzled by the nickname.
"Oh, it’s just a nickname. Your Sister Jinyu has one, too. She’s the ’Spouting Whale.’"
"Hm, very descriptive."
Liu Jinyu whipped her head around and shook her fist. "I’m warning you, you bratty little brother~"
Su Ran threw up his hands with a look that said, ’What? Am I wrong?’
