Chapter 441: Chapter 200: Two Layers of Potential Energy, a Lethal Kill with Spear Intent
The young man was not the merciful type.
If he failed to block this strike, the sword would pierce his chest, penetrating his Qi Power Gang Shield and six layers of Dharma Aspect power, killing him instantly.
Fortunately, though the young man’s Sword Technique was swift, it remained within Chu Lingguang’s perception.
He blocked it with his spear just in time.
He unleashed the fourth layer of power from the Flying Leaf Lotus Spear: Gathering!
This spear move was all about control. It could seize command of an enemy’s attack, forcing it to strike elsewhere against their will.
The young man’s sword thrust hit nothing but air.
Shock filled his eyes.
He never expected Chu Lingguang to be able to track his strike, let alone block it. ’It seems Chu Lingguang is even more incredible than I imagined.’ The thought that this man was the top fighter of South City, had killed Samba, was the prime candidate from the Northern Territory Trial Ground, and was even Guo Wei’s disciple spurred him on. The might of his Sword Technique suddenly doubled. His application of speed-based Potential Energy manifested fully in his swordplay.
The Sword Shadows grew so dense they seemed to form an impenetrable wall, enveloping Chu Lingguang’s entire body.
Wielding the Nine-foot Tyrant Spear, Chu Lingguang focused everything on defense. His three-foot defensive perimeter was watertight. Despite the opponent’s use of speed-based Potential Energy, and although a few Sword Shadows managed to break through, none could escape Chu Lingguang’s perception. He successfully neutralized every one.
Gradually, Chu Lingguang began to apply his Wind and Wave Power.
As his Long Spear danced, his Qi Power surged. The long sword in the young man’s hand began to tremble uncontrollably.
"HAAH!"
With an explosive shout, Chu Lingguang unleashed a twofold Potential Energy. His Long Spear crashed against the White Jade Treasure Sword. The young man didn’t budge, but the iron deck plate beneath his feet buckled. He had clearly practiced a Force Dissipation Skill.
At the same time, he unleashed his own Potential Power. His Sword Technique, already a blur, was now accompanied by a blinding flash of light that forced the onlookers to squint their eyes shut.
Chu Lingguang’s face filled with alarm.
The blinding glare left him seeing nothing but white. He realized the young man had mastered two forms of Potential Power: one was speed, and the other was this dazzling radiance.
Chu Lingguang was encountering both of these forms of Potential Energy for the first time.
At this critical juncture, Chu Lingguang flicked his Long Spear, releasing a Spear Intent Fluctuation that formed a circular curtain of light around him.
"CLANG!"
The White Jade Treasure Sword struck the barrier of Spear Intent Fragments.
Chu Lingguang opened his eyes. The white light vanished. Locking onto the sword, he flicked it away with his spear and, in one smooth motion, unleashed a ferocious sweep aimed at the young man’s waist.
The young man’s eyes widened in disbelief. He couldn’t fathom how Chu Lingguang had blocked such an unexpected strike. This was his ultimate killing move.
’Even with his strong Spear Technique, he shouldn’t have been able to overcome that blinding light so quickly and discover my sword’s path.’
Combined with the speed-based Potential Energy, the strike was fast, precise, and deceptively unpredictable. Even some old masters would have failed to block it. Yet, somehow, Chu Lingguang had done it again.
He realized his sword had struck a solid bulwark, a defense that felt even stronger than a Qi Power Gang Shield and a six-layer Dharma Aspect combined.
"BOOM!"
The young man flicked his sword upwards, wanting to block Chu Lingguang’s sweeping spear.
Unfortunately, Chu Lingguang’s spear was immensely powerful. Furthermore, it carried a threefold Potential Energy Superposition. The young man may have mastered two forms of Potential Power, but they were speed and light, offering no enhancement to his impact force. Despite his wealth of cultivation resources, his raw strength was no match for Chu Lingguang’s in this moment.
Wielding only a long sword, how could he possibly withstand a blow from the Nine-foot Tyrant Spear?
With a loud CRASH, the young man was sent flying sideways. He shattered the merchant ship’s railing and tumbled off the deck in full view of the crowd. But there was no splash. He had caught the anchor chain and, with a powerful swing, vaulted back onto the deck.
His face was flushed crimson. He had clearly not expected to come out on the losing end of that exchange, nearly falling into the water.
Infuriated, he activated his Body Technique. His Qi Sea thundered to life, and a torrent of Sword Qi erupted from his blade, surging toward Chu Lingguang.
The young man’s Sword Technique wasn’t just about cunning and bizarre moves; it also possessed an overwhelming Sword Momentum capable of splitting mountains. His earlier use of speed and light Potential Energy was a manifestation of his unorthodox techniques.
Now, his Sword Qi blazed like a rainbow as his Sword Technique rushed forward. This was the strongest Sword Qi he could summon, channeling his entire Qi Sea Power through his swordplay.
Chu Lingguang quietly gauged the approaching power.
Having reached Perfection in the Basic Thirteen Spear Techniques, Perfection with the Flying Leaf Lotus Spear, and the realm of Qi Sea Perfection, Chu Lingguang, like others, could manifest his Qi Power as a spear’s gleam projecting from his weapon.
However, the limitations of his skill meant the spear’s gleam he produced wasn’t sharp enough. Compared to the young man’s sword strike, at least, Chu Lingguang’s was inferior.
Defending against this strike with his spear’s gleam alone was likely impossible.
So he thrust his Long Spear forward.
Once again, he released a Spear Intent Fluctuation.
HUMMM!
Within his perception, the Spear Intent Fragments formed an aura of energy that not only blocked but completely shattered the young man’s Sword Qi.
Then, Chu Lingguang thrust forward again.
The young man was dumbstruck. Two words surfaced in his mind: ’Spear Intent’.
When Chu Lingguang blocked his previous strike—the one infused with light-based Potential Energy—he had faintly considered the possibility of Spear Intent but dismissed it as impossible. Now, feeling the Spear Intent Fluctuation, he was certain: Chu Lingguang had truly awakened Spear Intent.
’To awaken Spear Intent at such a young age... he’s a prodigy of shocking talent.’
’No wonder he could block my last attack.’
But before he could think further, Chu Lingguang thrust his spear again. It was still some distance away, and there was no release of Spear Intent Fluctuation, yet the young man felt a sharp pain in his chest. He tried to counter with his own sword, but it felt as if he’d been struck in the armpit; his entire arm went limp and dropped to his side.
This time, panic flashed across his face as he felt a wave of danger.
He saw Chu Lingguang channel the Wind and Wave Power through his Spear Technique. A force resembling countless shards of lotus leaves surged around him like a raging tide.
As if caught in a hurricane, he was lifted and thrown straight off the deck.
Seizing the opportunity, Chu Lingguang once again thrust out through the empty air.
’This young man holds a high position and is a scion of the Royal Family. If he’s allowed to mature, he’ll cause endless trouble in the future. I should use this chance to inflict irreversible damage with my Flesh and Blood Divine Power, halting his cultivation and shortening his lifespan.’
"Urk!"
The young man let out a muffled grunt.
He felt as if his chest were being torn open. Chu Lingguang’s Flesh and Blood Divine Power was far more potent than when he had used it against Batu Mu.
This time, the young man was unable to resist.
His body flew off the deck, the White Jade Treasure Sword slipped from his hand, and both man and sword fell into the Canal.
Chu Lingguang stood at the edge of the deck, watching the young man get swallowed by the Canal’s current. ’What a pity,’ he thought. ’My opponent was intent on killing me. I have no reason to show mercy. If I could have landed one more strike at the critical moment, my Flesh and Blood Divine Power might have severely damaged his internal organs and turned him into a lifelong invalid.’
Unfortunately, the battle was over. The Turkic people all leaped into the Canal, scrambling to haul the young man out of the water.
"Guer Khan!"
Isiluge shouted.
Batu Tieshan’s expression was savage. He couldn’t believe that even Guer Khan would lose to Chu Lingguang.
Chu Lingguang committed the name Guer Khan to memory. According to Turkic customs, "Guer Khan" was a title of nobility, unlike the name "Jier Khan" he had encountered previously.
’It seems the young man really is a Turkic noble. Perhaps he has the same status as "Little Prince Andenuk."’
Suddenly, a wave of danger washed over him. Nursing a grudge, Batu Tieshan slashed at Chu Lingguang’s neck from behind.
Chu Lingguang’s senses were sharp. He whirled around and thrust his spear, easily parrying the blow. He followed with a direct forward thrust, his Spear Intent erupting. The sharp, fluctuating fragments of his intent pierced all of Batu Tieshan’s defenses. The spear lanced through Batu Tieshan’s chest, and with a quick flick, Chu Lingguang tossed him into the river.
