Chapter 537: Chapter 290: Celestial Monarch Luo Qi: Young Master, you and I are fated...

Between the iridescent and exquisitely crafted gilded doors, a thin, golden curtain of light separated the inside from out, blocking Ling Changqing’s view.

However, the curtain of light held no additional Restrictions, so one could pass through it with ease.

Before stepping through the curtain of light, Ling Changqing glanced back one last time.

On the Purple Jade Arch Bridge, the tall, enchanting beauty in the ice-blue ceremonial robe stared at him, grinding her teeth in helpless frustration.

Ling Changqing smiled faintly, then turned and stepped through the curtain of light, entering the gateway.

Before him lay a crystal-clear, arched passageway shimmering with a faint, mysterious golden glow.

The floor, walls, and vaulted ceiling were covered in intricate, beautiful patterns, between which a magnificent spiritual radiance shimmered. The entire structure was seamless, without a single visible joint.

After a moment’s thought, Ling Changqing let out Meng Feiyu, Bai Qingyi, and Su Qinglian.

"Husband, you’re already inside? That’s amazing!"

Meng Feiyu, a bone-deep beauty with sparkling eyes, glanced around and immediately realized where she was. A delighted smile spread across her face, her cheeks flushing red.

If the time and place were right, she would have been tempted to pull Ling Changqing aside and "reward" him properly.

"That arch bridge should hold them off for two or three days,"

Ling Changqing said. "As for where to go next, why don’t you lead the way, my wife?"

"Yes, of course."

Meng Feiyu agreed, turning to observe the gilded doors. She swayed gracefully over to a corner and began carefully fiddling with something.

It was unclear what mechanism or Restriction she triggered, but the curtain of light suddenly flared brightly before growing considerably thicker. Rippling veils of light cascaded down from the top of the gateway, blanketing it in layers.

Immediately, Ling Changqing sensed a cold, murderous aura emanating from the gateway. A powerful Restriction must have been activated.

"This gateway is now sealed,"

Meng Feiyu said with a smile. "It should hold them back for at least twenty hours. Even if they eventually manage to break this Restriction, they’ll have to pay a heavy price to do so."

The three women exchanged smiles. The more of those pursuers outside who died, the better. The opportunities within this Divine Land were not for them.

The rest of the journey went much more smoothly. With Meng Feiyu on his arm, Ling Changqing and the others walked through a corridor that stretched for miles, passing through six gateways and crossing two smaller jade arch bridges along the way.

Naturally, Meng Feiyu sealed each of these passages behind them, reinforcing them with various Restriction Traps to ensure that any pursuers could not pass with ease.

"Hm?"

As they approached a great bronze cauldron that stood several yards high, Meng Feiyu looked up in surprise and scanned her surroundings. She felt that something was off.

"Is someone already inside?"

Bai Qingyi asked cautiously.

"Most likely."

Ling Changqing was also at a loss for words. ’This path has been filled with one powerful Restriction Trap after another,’ he thought. ’How could another Cultivator have possibly made it this far?’

’Thankfully, this isn’t the core area of the Divine Land Ruins. Otherwise, all our efforts would have been in vain.’

He thought for a moment, then silently activated his Celestial Secret Technique, forming a Spirit Technique to perform a quick divination. Afterward, his expression relaxed slightly.

"The situation isn’t too bad. There don’t seem to be many Cultivators inside, and they’re currently trapped. It looks like they’ve been stuck for a while, too."

"Trapped?"

Meng Feiyu looked startled. "Then they must be in the Profound Light Divine Prison. They’re as bold as they are skilled to have snuck into a deathtrap like that."

The Profound Light Divine Prison was a place where the Hongmeng Divine Hall once punished and imprisoned disciples of the sect who had erred.

Of course, powerful experts and Great Powers from enemy factions were also sent here to be suppressed after their capture.

Regardless of a prisoner’s Cultivation, once sent into the Profound Light Divine Prison, they had no chance of ever escaping.

In the Ancient Era, the Hongmeng Divine Hall’s Profound Light Divine Prison was a notoriously treacherous place, making experts from enemy factions pale at the mere mention of its name.

"Who on earth could they be? Let’s go take a look!"

Meng Feiyu suggested. As she returned to her former homeland, her past-life memories were constantly resurfacing. A massive flood of information was battering her sea of consciousness, causing a dazed and bewildered look to occasionally cloud her eyes.

Ling Changqing did not object. The four of them pressed on, passing countless jade towers and magnificent palaces. An endless vista of majestic, splendid Palace Halls stretched out before them.

One could only imagine how glorious and prosperous this place must have been before the Hongmeng Divine Hall’s decline.

"We’re here!"

Several hours later, Meng Feiyu finally announced.

They had arrived at a clearing several thousand acres in size. The ground appeared to be forged from a single, seamless piece of semi-transparent, dark-gold Crystal Bricks, as if it had simply grown into place.

In the very center of the clearing stood a small hill, no more than a hundred yards tall, that glowed with a brilliant radiance. It was shaped like a massive Seal.

Surrounding this Seal stood thousands of Daoist Soldier Puppets, each holding a Long Halberd. Their stalwart figures were over ten feet tall, and their heavy black Armor was covered in complex, profound Array Patterns that flickered with a faint Spiritual Light. They exuded a chilling, prison-like aura.

This was the entrance to the Profound Light Divine Prison, and this formation of the Daoist Puppet Army was the prison’s first line of Defense.

Ling Changqing swept his gaze over them. The Daoist Soldier Puppets were all at the Rank Four High Grade level. This was clearly not their normal level of power.

"It seems that when those others were trapped here back then, they must have destroyed all of these Daoist Soldier Puppets. Is that why their strength hasn’t returned to its peak?"

Meng Feiyu said with a frown.

According to her memories, every member of this Daoist Puppet Army once possessed the combat strength of a Peak Rank Five. Moreover, the few leading them were difficult for even a Cultivator in the Void Refining Realm to handle.
