A few months later, the Eternal Peak.

Tian Yongheng was cultivating peacefully before he felt Yan Jingfei’s presence outside his cave abode.

He dispersed his Spiritual Energy that was protecting the cave abode outside, and sent her a voice transmission to enter.

The next moment, she came into the cave abode quietly, her gaze wandering around the simple decorations and finally landing on Tian Yongheng.

She cupped her fists and bowed slightly before speaking solemnly, her brows furrowed, "Master, I just received news from father through the Communication Jade that the Infernal Blaze Sect wants to establish an alliance with our Yan Immortal Family and also the Eternal Peak. Their Sect Master, Yun Ping, wishes to have a conference with you regarding this matter."

Listening to her, Tian Yongheng raised an eyebrow.

What the hell? Why do they want to establish an alliance with me?

Is it because they want to use me as canon fodder for a upcoming war? Or because they think that I’m actually powerful enough to carry them through it?

He instinctively felt uneasy, thinking of all the possible reasons for this.

"...I’ll think about it. I need at least ten years of time before deciding on what to do." He finally replied calmly, not showing any concern at all.

Hearing his response, Yan Jingfei did not dare to ask anymore why he needed 10 more years of time. Although it wasn’t that much time to Acquired and Innate Realm cultivators, the political conflicts and rivalry in the Yan Dynasty were in a critical stage right now where war could break out at any given moment.

She decided to put these thoughts aside and spoke again, "Master, to be honest, the timeline has changed drastically from my past life. Many events that were supposed to happen got intercepted by you and thus did not happen. By this time in my past life, the Yan Dynasty was already in a battle of wits against the Luminous Jade Chamber after they destroyed all the forces under us.

I don’t know what are all of these things gonna lead to anymore and can’t help but feel uneasy about it. It’s as if all of this is just a dream that will vanish very soon..."

She couldn’t help but become very emotional by the end. Had it been anyone other than Tian Yongheng, she wouldn’t have acted like this in front of them. The only reason why she vented in front of him was because he was supposedly an all-powerful being of the past to her, and she was his disciple right now.

It was similar to how a devotee might act when they are expressing their problems to their deity, or how a person would act when talking about how much they suffered to their parents.

Tian Yongheng not only accepted Yan Jingfei as his disciple, but he also prevented the ominous fate that was waiting for her. She couldn’t thank him enough for that. Even though he never showed any emotions, she had a feeling that deep down, he cared very much about the people around him.

Tian Yongheng, on the other hand, couldn’t help but feel a little shocked when seeing the former Immortal Ascension Realm expert expressing her worries with her head down in front of him.

Were you really more than a hundred thousand years old in your past life?

He questioned inwardly. He was also a bit troubled seeing this situation since he did not know how to comfort someone.

This was his first time facing a problem like this!

He took a deep breath before saying, "Don’t worry. Nothing will go wrong with me here. Even if the sky falls, I will hold it down for you."

The entire place went silent for a moment.

Suddenly, Yan Jingfei burst into tears as she went up and hugged Tian Yongheng tightly around the waist, his robe soaking wet from her sudden outburst.

"???"

"Uhuwuuhuaa...master..I didn’t know you...sob..cared about me that much!"

Are you kidding me!? You’re telling me this little girl who is crying like a child right now used to be a powerhouse at the top of the world? I’m not buying that!

Multiple question marks appeared above Tian Yongheng’s head, but instead of pushing Yan Jingfei away, he just let her clung onto him for some time.

He felt a strange, yet familiar feeling inside of his heart seeing Yan Jingfei like this. It was something one would feel when looking at someone they dearly loved and cherished, but not in a romantic way.

Seeing her as a sobbing mess like this, Tian Yongheng felt as if he was looking at his sister from his past life.

He reached out his hand and gently patted her head, "Now, now, calm down. I will protect you to the best of my abilities, but you can’t always rely on me, alright? You have to cultivate diligently to become strong too." He said.

"I...I won’t let you down!" Yan Jingfei replied with a determined look in her eyes.

Tian Yongheng just nodded his head at that.

As for the thing I said before, holding the sky? I just said that as a metaphor that came to mind.

I doubt anybody is capable of that...and I certainly am not. Not right now, maybe not even in the future.

...

Meanwhile, far away in a mortal city under the jurisdiction of the Sword Seeking Sect.

A young boy seemingly 15 years old walked around the streets, his clothes tattered, his face and body full of injuries. His hair were a mess reaching down to his shoulders, and he appeared to be very skinny.

"Hey, look at that, isn’t he Lu Qingfeng?"

"Huh? He certainly doesn’t look like him at all, what happened to him?"

"Hahaha, you just came back to the city after a whole year, so of course you don’t know! Lu Qingfeng, as you must’ve already known, was a Lu Martial Family servant and a bootlicker of the third young master. He always did what the former third young master told him to, that included bullying the tenth young master who was the son of a maid and the Lu Family’s head.

However, around 6 months ago, the tenth young master was revealed to be a First-Rate Martial Artist, on par with the elites of the Lu Family and just below the highest ranking members at just the age of 16!

He has mysterious Martial Arts which allows him to fight 10 First-Rate Martial Artists at the same time! His status increased tremendously since then, and he took revenge on all the people who used to bully him and his mother. Not just that, he even caused the third young master to be exiled and killed Lu Qingfeng’s parents!

Now, Lu Qingfeng is just a begger on the streets who can only hope for survival."

"Now that’s truly tragic. Imagine falling from the high heavens to the nine nethers."

"You reap what you sow! He got the karma that was awaiting him."

Hearing the distant talks of the people around him, Lu Qingfeng felt unimaginable anger surging up within him. But he couldn’t do anything about it.

What the people knew was only half the truth. In reality, Lu Qingfeng only did those things because of the orders from his higher ups. Had he not done that, he and his entire family would’ve been massacred and nobody would’ve stood up for them.

His parents were killed mercilessly, and the so called exile of the third young master was just an act. In fact, he was living leisurely and running the Lu Family’s businesses in the outskirts of the city.

That was how the world of Martial Arts was. Not to mention that the Lu Family was an esteemed family of generations of Martial Artists which had produced more than 20 Martial Grandmasters in its 700 years of history.

It was said that they even had some connections with Immortal Gods. Once every hundred years, an Immortal will descend down from the sky and stay in the Lu Family’s mansion for some time before going back to heaven.

Thinking about it, Lu Qingfeng’s eyes lit up as the thought yet again crossed his mind.

"I...also want to pursue the Immortal Dao."
