Chapter 1804: Chapter 1803 - Legends

Her body was shaking. She had done her best to be calm, yet meeting a living legend had been too much!

Her heart thudded loudly in her ears. He had been gone for days before the strange part wolf, part dragon beast began wagging his tail and left. It told her their pursuers were no longer an issue.

"My lady, he will come back. Are you prepared?" Her personal guard captain, Shatterheart, was much calmer than her! The demoness had been on the battlefield for over a million years before Bryth was born.

Bryth had only come towards the end of the Fiend War. Shatterheart was a rogue demon that had been taken in after proving her worth in battle. She then became much stronger as a Sliver Tier Immortal.

Her use of a bow was horrifying. No heart could escape her, hence her name!

The Heart Splitter Art was demonic and no human could replicate it. Shatterheart had perfected it beyond any known user before her.

She should have been ascending the path of cultivation yet she was stuck at the Sliver Tier even now. She had sworn to protect Bryth and a Shard Tier would have been pulled away by the sect to serve as an elder.

That was the cut off if one was not the leader of their respective power.

Only for demons, though. All other races were left to fend for themselves unless they petitioned to join. 𝘧𝓇ℯ𝑒𝓌𝑒𝑏𝓃𝘰𝘷𝘦𝘭.𝒸ℴ𝓂

They also had to have not exhausted their potential. Shatterheart was an oddity as she clearly was still quite young yet she did not advance.

"What price should I expect?" She only had rumors and stories to go by for Divine Lord Lind Frey. Shatterheart chuckled.

"You should disperse whatever you are thinking right now. Think of that strange beast. He was only a Sky Realm yet he was highly valued by a Divine Lord. That should tell you what you need most. Your worth is not determined by your realm." It was contrary to all she was taught.

Shatterheart brought out her ancient bow. It was made from the bones of an immortal beast according to her. Bryth had always wondered what beast as its power was undeniable.

"He is a maker. He is a very rare Triple Grand Maester and likely hiding he had made all 3 professions Mystery Grade." Bryth felt her throat close up. Such an expert was so highly sought already.

If Divine Lord Lind Frey had truly become a Triple Transcendent Maester, he would never know peace!

Such a being could command the fortunes of the entire Divine Lands!

Seeing her racing thoughts only made Shatterheart laugh at her!

"What I mean is, men like him prefer peace and value things beyond the surface level. You and I see ores and crystals as precious but he sees their potential to be so much more." She gently caressed the bow and Bryth had never seen her treat it in such a way.

"Was he your husband?" Shatterheart looked up at her question and a strange smile spread on her face.

"Husband? No. She was my wife." Bryth froze. What?! She had never heard any personal details of Shatterheart before! Why now?! She wanted to push for more when something clicked.

Past tense.

"Ah, you were always quick. Yes, she died but something to my point is she was a Crystal Tier Immortal. I never understood what she saw in a brute like me. She was the one that taught me the bow and so much more." Bryth understood.

Shatterheart had to only be a Sky or Heaven Realm when they met. She was not that old as an Immortal yet her history in that realm was public.

So anything before that had to be in lower realms.

She wanted to continue the conversation but an oppressive aura suddenly swept their camp. The ward was shattered and sunlight streamed in from the bitter cold sky. It was normally a gorgeous view yet only fear filled her.

Had they been found by someone?!

She emerged from the tent with her halberd in her hands. It was now happily humming and she could detect the nascent spirit as the Divine Lord had told her it was there.

A massive dragon appeared in the sky and the emerald scales reflected the sunlight to make him look like a living jewel. Bryth felt her jaw drop and wanted to call Shatterheart a liar!

What else could it be but wanting to impress on them his superiority!

[BE GONE!] The words thundered and she was shocked as several more powerful beasts appeared. Some were clearly in the Sovereign Tier of Immortals and one Apprentice Tier!

When had they arrived? How had they found them?

She then saw a small figure squirming in one of the claws of the massive dragon.

[You will apologize! What were you thinking?!] The scolding tone was much calmer and sounded like her mother when she caught Bryth slacking off or sneaking out.

A very miserable looking dark blue and black furred beast appeared in front of her camp. She realized the Sky Realm beast had accidentally damaged their array on his departure!

He whined and buried his head in the snow.

[Stop trying for sympathy! Apologize!] Divine Lord Lind Frey’s voice thundered again. The beast whimpered and Bryth felt sorry for him. He was clearly a child!

She was about to move when Shatterheart stopped her. Her eyes were not cold but firm.

"He has to learn." She whispered the words and slowly nodded. The beast finally stood up and walked slowly to the men and women of the camp. It began to carve into the solid soil frozen for so long even their weapons could barely chip away at it.

She was shocked that a Sky Realm had such strength. She also noted the surprise on each of the warriors’ faces. He then came to them and looked very forlorn but she then saw him carve out perfect words!

{I am sorry. I endangered your lives without thinking. I rushed to the packleader with no intent to hurt. I am so sorry, pretty lady.}

Shatterheart suddenly had to turn away as her shoulders shook. The beast seemed to take that as anger but Bryth knew it was hiding her laughter! The whine made it clear he really was sorry.

She assumed he had written similar notes to the others.

"It is all right. You did not mean it and we are ok." His tail began to wag and she smiled at him. Shatterheart’s shoulders were shaking even more! "Stop that! He is being sincere!"

She understood that despite being a Sky Realm, the beast in front of them was relatively very young.

The demoness finally calmed herself and stood up straight. She then tried to loom over the beast but he was a good head taller than her!

Still, her aura was superior to hers.

"Do not endanger the princess again! If you will learn from your mistake, I will practice with you to improve yourself!" Bryth sighed as that was very normal for her guard. A simple acceptance or thank you never passed her lips!

The beast tilted his head in confusion at first but then his tail began to wag almost like a whirlwind.

She glanced up and saw Divine Lord Lind Frey still in his dragon form sighing. He had clearly explained that the apology was accepted.

[You would do well to follow her example, Princess Bryth. Ryl is a child, true, but he is still a powerful beast. His immature point of view led to this. I told him to stay but he did not. He now sees that actions have unexpected consequences.] She just barely froze.

The legendary Divine Lord was educating her?! Her?! He was being very kind and explaining that he was also teaching the young beast how to live better for the future as well!

Shatterhear was right!

Realm was not a consideration in the Divine Lord’s eyes! He cared more about personality and the ability to accept change!

She felt like her horizons were broadened just on that revelation alone.

[Divine Lord, Ryl is not a beast I am familiar with. What is he?] She was unsure how to proceed as she had never heard of a half wolf and half dragon beast before.

She then received a brief recounting of Ryl’s life. She was shocked. He was an entirely new species and the first of his kind! The Grypwolfs would be a game changing beast as dragons and wolves usually inhabit vastly different environments.

It was now possible the hybrid beast could show up almost anywhere!

She then felt even more in awe of Divine Lord Lind Frey. He had stood by this impossible beast all his life and was now his packleader. Normally, such low realm beasts would not even be a consideration, yet he took it on with all the solemnity her mother had.

Tears formed as she felt like the scar on her heart was healing.

Her mother had not been wrong! Strength was not what made a good ruler, it was just one part of the whole! The reason Lind Frey was such a legend had to be because of that!

He had not fought simply for power, but for the lives of all regardless of realm. Hope bloomed in her. All those lost lives were not in vain!

The Divine Lord Lind Frey would tear the shadows asunder and restore their honor!
