Chapter 1802: Chapter 1801 - Forgotten Wrath
Nearly 250 years wasted! A petulant princess had made him waste 250 years of his life in the Northern Continent!
Mu had been advancing through the Shard Tier with ease until everything went to hell in the Kingdom of Blades. The mixed kingdom was led by demons yet welcomed the strong regardless of race.
It was a relatively decent power that had risen up under the auspices of the Veridian Bone Sect. The demonic power was founded on the simple premise of blood and bone was the foundation of cultivation.
It was not arrogant and it did not allow abuse of power. It was well respected despite its bloody tendency in combat.
The powers that formed under them shared the philosophy were similar. The Kingdom of Blades had been founded by a demonic clan that survived the Fiend War. They were experts in weapon combat and had raised their scions in that vein.
The first princess had been alive for a long time and inherited the weapon made for her family that each heir must master. She had stunned her family as she unlocked hidden elemental alignments none had suspected when she reached the Star Tier.
Everything seemed to be looking up when the coup happened. No one really knew the full truth but the Queen suddenly turned on the king and many followed her on a night that became known as the Bloody Tide.
Thousands died and the princess vanished with her closest guards. Mu had been in charge of the city defenses and let her slip away in the chaos as he had no order to stop her.
Now, he was stuck leading a desperate gamble on his group’s part as the princess had fled the Southern Continent for the Northern one.
No one had expected her to get so far! She was not well connected but someone allowed her to use the teleportation array to escape from their clutches over 200 years ago!
They had to be running low on supplies and since there had been no signs of tribulations, they were still just a few Immortals. He was escorted by the grand elder of the Veridian Bone Sect.
It showed how serious the issue was for the sect. Mu knew part of why that was. The princess had been promised to the young master of the Kord Clan. They were one of the 3 leading families of the sect.
Mu did not have a high opinion of the boy. He had no achievements of his own yet acted as if the world should cater to him. Why he was being raised that way in a sect that supposedly favored personal battle growth mystified him.
It was not Mu’s place, he just had to bring back the rebellious princess alive and regain his place in the kingdom. He wanted to keep advancing while he could!
A few centuries was nothing to an Immortal usually but Mu was old. His white hair was a reminder that his time was slipping away faster and faster!
He was about to turn in when his instincts screamed at him. He quickly sat up as the fires burned around him. The camp was relatively peaceful and no one else was acting odd, but Mu felt it.
He had been in real battles during the war. He had lived on a knife’s edge and even broken through thanks to the Fiend War. He trusted his instincts.
It was only as he focused on what he was not hearing that his broadsword was pulled out. There were no sounds from the forest at all! Dead silence meant a predator was nearby and for everything to go quiet, it had to be very strong!
"Wha–?!" He did not even get a chance to speak when he felt his blood freeze in his body. A pair of reptilian emerald orbs were looming in the shadows. They were huge and well above the treeline.
How were they in shadow?
It was only as he saw the shadows move that he understood what he was looking at. It was a massive beast!
"ROOOAAARRRRR!" A dragon’s war was the only warning as pure emerald flames slammed above their heads and revealed the grand elder! He was a wizened old man yet despite being a powerful Divine Realm, he was culled out of the sky with ease!
The screams were over quickly as a massive emerald scaled claw ripped him apart like he was nothing. From the moment the roar happened to the death of the Journeyman Tier elder, only a few breaths had passed!
Mu had no chance to take in the events when all the formation traps were destroyed by some strange golden figures that floated in midair.
Weavings?
Mu was sweating and shaking. They stood no chance! The grade 8 artifacts seemed to be toys to the dragon as it made quick work of them. The power to kill a Journeyman Tier made it clear what they were dealing with.
A Master Tier!
"G–g–great Senior! Please spare us! We only came for a traitor of our kingdom!" His counterpart, a sycophant of the grand elder knelt in the soil abasing himself. Mu felt disgusted.
"Stand up and fight! It is not here to be praised by us! It is here to kill us!" The anger freed him and he quickly brought out a jade stone artifact. He was about to crush it when his whole body froze.
[It is commendable that you choose to fight, but do not waste your time. I will not kill you yet.] An enraged voice shook him. Mu could still move his head and saw the other man equally frozen.
The rest of their party was maimed but not killed. Their cultivations were sealed as if it was trivial to seal so many at once!
The dragon filled the sky as it tore the caravans open. Mu lost all hope as a statue wrapped in silk was lifted out.
[Shoddy but effective.] The dark stone cracked and the image of a demon man was turned to dust without going into effect. [A slave seal artifact keyed to bloodline, eh? Very depraved.]
Mu froze. What did the dragon just say? He wanted to ask but then the massive dragon maw finally was revealed in the fires.
Emerald scales with 3 horns were on it. There was some kind of jewel between them and it seemed to trigger a memory in Mu.
He had lost hope and was about to die to an army of Fiends. Blood was so thick that it was almost a river. He could only hope to just die on that field when the sun was blocked out.
Everyone looked up and a massive emerald dragon was there. His flames had seared the Fiends into ashes and Mu wept in joy. He was going to live!
"Divine Lord Lind Frey?!" His words made all stop wailing. All but one. Mu noticed that his counterpart was not trying to get his body to move. The massive maw opened as smoke curled out of it.
[That answers some questions for me. It seems not all of you know the truth, but you do, don’t you?] Mu shivered at the rage of the voice in his head. Why was Divine Lord Lind Frey attacking them? He was the savior of them all.
Mu tried to think of a reason when something slowly came to him. When was the last time anyone had said the Divine Lord was angry? It had been a very long time.
If anything, he had heard rumors that the Divine Lord had lost his fire from the war. They were fools!
Anyone that saw him fight in the war would know only an idiot would ever say those words.
Mu had seen him fight and knew how much had hung on a bare possibility at times thanks solely to the dragon before him.
"Great Lord, please spare me! I am ju–!" Lind’s massive claw slammed directly in front of the prone man.
[DO NOT DARE TO LIE TO ME! I know! That man was near the end of his life and yet he happily obeyed an Immortal?! Tell me all you know or I will rip it from your soul!" Sigils suddenly appeared around the man.
Mu began to piece it together. There was only 1 subject that could invoke such rage from Divine Lord Lind Frey.
Aside from attacking his family, only 1 thing made sense and Mu felt weak in his heart. It couldn’t be!
His kingdom surely would not violate the taboo! It would make them the enemy of Master Tiers across the Divine Lands!
Mu snapped back as he heard a blood curdling scream come from the man. A lightning bolt slammed into him and dispersed his soul! Lind Frey roared in rage but an Oath was not something even he could stop if he did not know about it in advance.
Mu then saw the eyes look at him. Before, he would have feared for his life, but not now.
"Has my King violated the taboo?" His question made the rage reduce a lot in those emerald orbs. The massive dragon vanished as a handsome man in gray robes appeared. His skin was perfect under the fire light.
"Not yet, but he plans to with whatever giving his daughter away would gain him." Mu understood that the princess’ fortune was high. What were the odds she would gain the favor of the most powerful being in the Divine Lands?
The same being that could command legions was beyond reproach.
Mu felt like he wanted to run his sword through his dantian at that moment. He could not move but he felt sick! He had spent 250 years chasing a hero, not a traitor!
"Ask anything, and I will give all I have." Mu spoke while looking into those eyes and saw the rage vanish. The man nodded and the interrogations began.
Mu swore one thing to himself.
Before he died, the demon king would die first!
