Chapter 2236: Chapter 2236: A Clean Sweep That Satisfies Both Sides
In the native world, suddenly there appeared several spatial distortions, and one by one, figures emerged in this place.
Everyone glanced around and discovered that every seat was occupied. "How come no one was lost? This plan went remarkably smoothly," someone suddenly remarked in surprise.
This was a desperate battle; they had already prepared for a situation where at least a quarter of them would be lost.
"Indeed, luck was truly on our side this time. We encountered many traitors anxious to please their new master. These guys sure can talk; they kept chatting with us all day and didn’t attack."
"Really? Tell us more about the specifics."
"Alright, let’s not say too much for now. Notify the others immediately to observe movements everywhere and determine how much of the enemy’s active forces we can eliminate this time," the Alliance Leader said loudly.
The people from the Intelligence Department immediately stood up, saluted, and headed outside.
Beside them, someone said, "Our Magic Array took a long time to set up this time; it’s foolproof. Not a single one of them should think about escaping." They had indeed put their heads together to prevent any surprises.
The time went quickly in the Outer World, so the intelligence was soon reported back.
"We’ve received the news; this time, all the tier-eight and tier-seven sent over have perished, not a single one left."
This was truly a great victory; everyone was silent for a moment, then erupted in unparalleled cheers. Ever since the beginning of the battle against the other side, they had been suffering losses while the enemy remained largely unscathed.
This time, they finally turned the tide, eliminating so many of the enemy’s strong without losing a single one of their own.
"Humph, now they’ll see our strength, right? Our strength is sufficient to contend with them; we are more than capable of protecting our cities and territories," someone shouted in celebration.
"Now, this is not the most important thing. The opponent should be more cautious, but we also have our own trouble."
Someone raised his head, sensing the consciousness of the world focusing on him. Or rather, a form of intangible punishment had begun to descend. Even though many people were involved in this affair, the punishment was spread out, and each one bore it fairly well. However, this punishment still existed, and trying to break through would likely be even more difficult from here on.
Quite a few faces turned bitter because it was already hard enough for them to advance, and now the chance seemed even slimmer.
For those at the pinnacle of tier-eight, it didn’t matter. They hadn’t planned to reach tier-nine anyway; their strength could advance no further.
Elsewhere, Du You also received the news. After the world’s fragmentation, much intelligence came Du You’s way.
"How many came out?" Du You asked Lin Yucha, lying leisurely on a deck chair. His demeanor didn’t at all suggest he’d recently lost many subordinates.
The just-returned Bai Zimo was at a loss, "We lost so many strong ones this time. Don’t you feel the least bit of heartache?"
"How could I? They were just a bunch of disobedient fellows. If it weren’t for the fact that I couldn’t personally fight, I’d have cleared them out long ago." Xiaobai didn’t expect Du You to say such a thing.
Then Lin Yucha pulled Xiaobai to the side to explain. Upon hearing that they’d known about this and had intentionally planned it this way, Xiaobai seemed to want to say something but hesitated, feeling a bit uneasy.
Ultimately, having not experienced as much, Xiaobai was still relatively pure.
Lin Yushi, beside them, could only continue to persuade, sharing her own experiences. Bai Zimo would inevitably encounter these matters sooner or later, as they were a necessary experience on the path to becoming powerful.
Lin Yucha then said, "We didn’t expect that some people would actually sense the dissipation of souls. When the world shattered, those below tier-seven who died within it would also have their souls vanish. However, some people were clever and chose to commit suicide. As long as they weren’t obliterated by the Spatial Storm, their souls would survive. The basic world rules remained before the world’s fragmentation, preserving their souls and sending them back."
"But shouldn’t that world be incapable of sending them back?"
"That’s when the world consciousness intervened. The world consciousness instinctively protects its adventurers. Any soul the rules could protect was later preserved by the world consciousness, but those obliterated by the Spatial Storm were beyond help."
Du You understood. These folks were indeed quite daring.
From the returning mouths of these people, Du You also gathered intelligence from this event. A massive Magic Array directly shattered the entire world, what a grand move. Some people escaped toward the rift, but none have returned.
It is unknown whether they died or continue to struggle in that chaotic crevice.
But Du You believed that very few, if any, truly returned. And even if some could return, it would not be any time soon, certainly not in the foreseeable future.
For those left behind, they later despaired. They found that the opponent’s Magic Array contained no loopholes; they had anticipated the world’s fragmentation affecting the Magic Array from the outset.
So the Magic Array was directly imprinted on the world barrier, each a separate unit with no gaps. By the time the last world shattered, those who remained had no chance of escape.
These people were doomed, never to be seen again.
Du You wore a smile; this was excellent. Those individuals he couldn’t personally eliminate were swept away by the other’s actions. This accounted for roughly eighty percent of the disobedient ones.
The remaining twenty percent were either too weak or relatively compliant, not as troublesome. With proper guidance, they could likely become one of his own, or at least partially so.
Meanwhile, Du You sensed the world consciousness’s attention on him diminishing to nearly negligible levels. The previous faint hostility disappeared, becoming more accepting of his actions.
Du You knew his plan had succeeded. Using their plan against them, he had provoked the world consciousness’s punishment on the other side, allowing his previously slowed progress to accelerate once more.
The Magic Array he set up lacked any world-destroying capabilities and instead reinforced the world barrier’s strength.
Following this event, the world consciousness regarded his Magic Array endeavors as commendable, further bolstering his actions.
