Chapter 405: Chapter 238: Arhat Relic, Advancing to Upper Third Stage!
Single-arm Bell-Raising.
The three Zen Generation Masters of Vajra Temple bowed in admiration, and the monks of the entire monastery also expressed their awe.
"Clang!"
Su Mu slowly released his hand, and the moment the Mountain Lord Ancient Bell returned to its original position, the ground trembled as if a dragon beneath the earth had turned over, but the violent wind on the scene calmed instantly, as if nothing had happened.
As the Ancient Bell fell, Su Mu took several deep breaths, and the phantom of the Fire Sparrow and Water Ape behind him dissipated. After releasing the Limit-Breaking Jade Bone state, he forcibly suppressed the inhuman pain attacking him, only slightly clenching his teeth, without showing any trace on his face.
Yet a trace of doubt flashed in his eyes, and he once again scanned the monks in the Ancient Temple, still unable to detect who had secretly transmitted the sound to assist him.
"Layman, please come with us."
Zen Jing no longer addressed Su Mu as a benefactor but started calling him a layman, and none of the monks in the courtyard found it strange.
After leaving the Ancient Mountain Lord Temple with Su Mu, the three monks passed through the front yard, and during this time, the Yellow-Robed Abbot Zen Jing couldn’t help but speak.
"Layman, could you resolve an old man’s doubts?"
"Master, please speak."
"Do not fear ridicule, layman. That Mountain Lord Ancient Bell comes from the hand of our temple’s founding ancestor and has been passed down to today. Even we four brothers only have a half-understanding. Might the layman have studied the art of formations from somewhere?"
Formations?
The four brothers?
Upon hearing this, Su Mu was stunned, and his thoughts raced. He had never heard of any formation techniques before, but the patterns on the Mountain Lord Ancient Bell gave him a feeling three parts similar to the Inscription of a weapon, and four to five parts similar to the silver Talisman Treasure he had taken from Tao Xingzheng.
Moreover, the words of the current Vajra Temple abbot revealed that the four Zen Generation members are the highest ranking within Vajra Temple today.
If so, who was the one secretly giving him guidance to break the Vajra Temple’s Sect Protection Array?
Could it be that he guessed wrong, and the person was not Vajra Temple’s ’Sweeping Monk’?
"I do not understand anything about formations; what happened just now was merely a stroke of fortune."
Upon hearing this, Zen Jing remained silent, Zen Ming was startled and snorted lightly, while Zen Wu appeared thoughtful, but it was clear the three did not believe Su Mu’s words.
Just now, Su Mu first verbally withdrew the two who wanted to intervene, then took two steps forward and broke the array. He stood precisely at the damaged and weakest point of the array; such confidence could not be a mere accident.
"I spoke out of turn and offended you." Zen Jing assumed Su Mu did not wish to disclose anything more. The potential and aptitude Su Mu displayed today surpassed even the judgment of his junior brother. As the current Abbot of Vajra Temple, he naturally wanted to form a good relationship with Su Mu.
"Did junior brother Zen Heart mention the inheritance of our Vajra Temple to you?"
"He did not."
"Then let me explain first. Our Vajra Temple branch is a part of Qingzhou Longfu Temple. Decades ago, our founding ancestor Master Kongshe was the head monk in Longfu Temple, but he had ideological conflicts in Buddhist Dharma with Master Kongxuan from Longfu Temple, so he left Longfu Temple and went south to spread the teachings."
The four walked along the corridor, passing through the Zen Temple of Vajra Temple, as the mountain wind rustled the leaves of pine trees within the temple.
"Amitabha Buddha, the ancestor established the temple on this mountain and passed away fifty-three years later, leaving behind an Arhat Relics..." At this point, the three monks showed expressions of reverence and remembrance.
Zen Jing, the Abbot, raised his sleeve to point towards the place with the pine stone pagoda. As they neared this place, there were no ordinary monks in sight, but Su Mu could sense several strong presences from the shadows, and as they approached, several gazes fell upon them, especially on him as the outsider.
Following the direction Zen Jing pointed, they saw an octagonal seven-story pine stone pagoda, built with blue bricks, with layers of eaves, bell-hung corners, the stupa shaped like a bowl covered bell, stacked Dharma wheels, simple and magnificent, with the entire structure faintly showing a glow of Buddhist light.
"The relics of our ancestor Master Kongshe are buried within this stone tower, and the method you seek for the Vajra Secret Realm is also within."
After speaking, the three monks put their hands together and uttered ’Amitabha Buddha,’ bowed three times towards the ancient tower, and then continued.
"You may enter the Relic Tower to comprehend it once, with a period of half a month. I need to remind the layman that comprehending the relics requires either exceptional comprehension or affinity with our Buddha, otherwise, it is difficult to attain the method."
"Master Kongshe was proficient in various Buddhist Dharma during his lifetime, and the relics left behind naturally contain many Buddhist teachings. Hundred people enter the tower and each attains different methods, Zen Heart Junior Brother attained the Secret Realm method from the Relic Tower, but there are more who do not attain the Secret Technique."
"However, even if one does not obtain the Secret Realm method, cleansing the body with the Relic Light can repair old injuries and have the miraculous effect of improving the physique and strengthening the tendons and bones... Before entering the Relic Tower, what I said before still stands, what does the layman intend?"
Comprehending the relics requires exceptional comprehension or an affinity with Buddha.
A hundred people obtain a hundred methods!
Zen Jing’s words highlighted the difficulty and the possibility that Su Mu might encounter a situation where he cannot comprehend anything within the tower. From Zen Jing’s words, it was clear that even within Vajra Temple, many entered the tower without attaining any Secret Technique.
To take a step back, even if one succeeds in comprehending, it doesn’t necessarily mean they will obtain the Vajra Secret Realm method as desired; what may be obtained could be another Secret Technique.
At this moment, Su Mu suddenly understood why Vajra Temple made things difficult for him; they didn’t want anyone to easily obtain the Secret Technique. It turns out they required entering the Relic Tower of Vajra Temple’s founding ancestor to comprehend it.
In a previous life, there was also talk of ’relics,’ which are pearl-like crystals in the bones left after the nirvana and cremation of eminent monks with great merit. In short, they are part of the remains of eminent monks with great merit, historically regarded as Sacred Objects by the Buddhist Family.
