Chapter 678: See? You’re Just Overthinking Things
Alex was very confident in his singing talent, so he felt no pressure at all. On the contrary, Latifa was restless, repeatedly worrying about the condition her mother had set.
She explicitly told her daughter that unless Alex won the Singing King Contest, she would not recognize him as Latifa’s lover.
"Don’t worry too much, Latifa," Lulu said with a smile. "Even if Alex doesn’t win, we can just elope with him."
Latifa looked at Lulu with a frown. Of course, she had also considered this option as a last resort. However, her mother was a Celestial Fox.
Alex and Latifa could run to the edge of the world, yet Evarisse would still find them without fail.
She wasn’t as optimistic as her Alter, who sincerely believed this matter could be solved by elopement.
"You don’t look convinced." Lulu smirked.
"How can I look convinced?" Latifa sighed. "Elopement? That won’t solve anything."
"If that’s the case, then I have a better idea."
"And that is?"
Lulu walked close to her Master before whispering something in her ear.
"You just have to get pregnant with Alex’s child," Lulu whispered. "If that happens, even Mother can’t do anything."
The young lady’s face immediately reddened after hearing Lulu’s "better idea."
She also wanted that to happen. However, she didn’t want it to be a last resort for her and her lover to be together.
Suddenly, the magic circle in the clubroom activated.
The one who appeared was none other than Lumi, who went to see Alex earlier.
"I passed the message on to him," Lumi reported.
"How did he react?" Latifa asked.
"He said that his win is already in the bag," Lumi answered. "Alex is confident that he’s going to win."
"See?" Lulu chuckled. "There’s nothing to worry about."
However, Lotte suddenly spoke up, making everyone look in her direction.
"Have any of you heard Alex sing a song?" Lotte asked. "Is he any good?"
Latifa and Lumi exchanged glances with each other in response. Latifa was always sleeping and didn’t leave the clocktower, so she had no idea if Alex was a good singer.
Lumi followed the young man very often, but she still hadn’t heard him sing even once.
As if coming to an understanding, both of them gazed at Lulu, who only smiled at them in return.
"Why are you girls looking at me?" Lulu asked. "How should I know?"
"Then, is there anyone in the clubroom who has already heard Alex’s singing voice?" Latifa inquired.
"How about we ask Dim Dim?" Lotte proposed.
"That’s a good idea!" Latifa nodded in agreement.
It was then that they heard a knocking sound coming from the glass window panels.
The little bun was there, asking for someone to open the window so it could come inside the clubroom.
The moment Dim Dim was safely inside, Latifa and her Alters looked at it with intense gazes.
"Dim Dim?" Dim Dim blinked, asking the ladies why they were looking at it in this manner.
"Dim Dim, I have something to ask you," Latifa said.
"Dim?"
"Have you heard Alex’s singing voice?"
The Dim Sum God visibly flinched as if someone had flicked its forehead with a finger.
In fact, it was so surprised by the question that its first reaction was to fall down, roll a bit, and play dead.
Lulu immediately giggled as it lightly poked the "dead" little bun’s chubby cheeks, enjoying its softness.
After a few pokes, Dim Dim opened its little eyes and propped itself up.
It then looked at Latifa with a serious gaze before nodding its head.
"Dim."
"So, you’ve heard it before? What is his singing voice like?"
Dim Dim pondered a bit. At the end of the day, Alex was its partner, and Latifa was its partner’s lover. He didn’t want to badmouth Alex, but he also didn’t want to lie.
In the end, it decided to compromise by saying something that was half-true.
"Dim Dim!"
"What? His singing voice is to die for?"
Dim Dim nodded. "Dim."
Lotte, who was already an expert in the Dim Dim language, tilted her head to the side.
Dim Dim said that Alex’s singing voice was to die for. However, she interpreted it as Alex’s singing voice could kill a person.
Thinking she was just overthinking things, Lotte decided to ask another question.
"On a scale of 1 to 10, with 10 being the highest, how powerful is Alex’s singing voice?" Lotte inquired. "Will someone never forget it after hearing it once?"
"Dim Dim!" Dim Dim replied without hesitation.
"His singing voice is a 100 over 10?" Lotte blinked. "And no one can ever forget him once they hear him sing?"
"Dim!"
"He’s that amazing?" Lulu giggled. "See! You’re just overthinking things."
Latifa also breathed a sigh of relief. After all, Dim Dim had been with Alex for as long as she could remember.
The little bun had already seen everything about him, so it was the most reliable source of information regarding Alex.
"Thank you, Dim Dim." Lulu picked up Dim Dim and kissed its cheek. "You helped Latifa calm down."
"Ehehe~" The little bun lightly scratched its head, having no idea why Latifa suddenly asked it about Alex’s singing.
Its partner’s talent was indeed very impressive, but for the wrong reasons.
That was when Latifa realized that there were still many things that she didn’t know about Alex. Because of this, she asked Lotte to prepare some snacks for Dim Dim while she placed the little bun on top of the round table.
"Dim Dim, can you tell me more about Alex?" Latifa asked. "I heard the story of how he met Lavinia, but I want to know more about him."
"Dim Dim!" Dim Dim nodded and began to tell Latifa how it first met Alex in the floating islands of Thaloria.
It even boasted how many times it poked Alex’s nose to wake him up from his sleep, which made Latifa, Lumi, and Lulu giggle.
Even Lotte smiled faintly after hearing the little bun’s animated story about how Alex had thrown stones at a goblin before running away.
It even ran around the round table and enacted the scene, making the ladies chuckle.
The little bun spun a wonderful tale, and even continued when Vaan and Lapiz entered the clocktower.
An hour later, Renard, Charles, and Nessia entered and decided to listen to the story as well.
Little by little, they started to know about Alex’s exploits, including the part where he accompanied Charles in the Dungeon of Beginnings.
Charles remembered this part well since it was the turning point of his life.
