Chapter 273: A few moment together (R18)
The family dinner ended peacefully as the evening settled over Astoria.
Caelus and Sylvia thanked Victor and Elena for their hospitality.
Elena repeatedly reminded them to visit again soon, her hands still holding Sylvia’s warmly as they stood by the door.
Victor jokingly told Caelus not to keep such a wonderful girlfriend waiting too long before proposing. Sylvia smiled shyly hearing this while Caelus laughed helplessly.
They waved goodbye before leaving the house together, the warm glow from the windows following them down the street.
They hailed a taxi back toward Long Island City.
New York after the Rift invasion looked different now as they drove through the streets.
Construction drones and workers began clearing debris from collapsed buildings. Military vehicles slowly withdrew from several streets, their presence no longer needed.
Although traces of destruction remained visible everywhere, the city was steadily returning to normal after the chaos.
Their apartment building was fortunately still intact when they arrived. Caelus quietly let out a sigh of relief, seeing it standing undamaged among the surrounding structures.
"Looks like we got lucky," he said.
As they walked toward their apartment building, Caelus looked around at the damaged neighborhood thoughtfully. Several nearby buildings showed cracks in their walls, windows were boarded up with plywood, debris still littered some sidewalks despite cleanup efforts.
"Maybe..."
"We should move somewhere better," he suggested.
Sylvia looked at him curiously.
"Already?" she asked.
Caelus nodded, his expression serious.
"I want you to have the best,"
"A safer place."
"Somewhere we don’t have to worry."
Sylvia smiled warmly, hearing his concern for her. She gently shook her head, reaching out to take his hand.
"Let’s not rush," she replied softly.
"We still have time,"
She reminded him that he now possessed the Blacksmith profession, her eyes bright with confidence in their future together.
"Once you start forging equipment..."
"We can sell it online, we’ll earn plenty of money," she explained. "Then we can move somewhere even better."
Caelus realized she was right about waiting. Rushing into expensive decisions now would be unnecessary when they had reliable income sources developing.
They stopped walking for a moment under a streetlight. Caelus looked at Sylvia, his expression soft despite the exhaustion from their long day.
"I really do want the best for you," he said sincerely.
Sylvia stepped closer to him, closing the small distance between them. She gently tapped the tip of his nose with her finger playfully, her smile widening.
"I know," she replied warmly.
She leaned forward and gave him a gentle kiss, her lips soft against his. Caelus smiled and returned the kiss with equal tenderness. When they separated, they both laughed softly together.
They soon entered the apartment building together, the lobby quiet except for the hum of lights overhead. The elevator was silent as it ascended toward their floor. Neither said much during the ride, simply standing close together.
They enjoyed each other’s company after the exhausting day filled with combat and family visits. As the elevator doors opened with a soft chime, Caelus took Sylvia’s hand naturally. The two walked into their apartment together, closing the door behind them.
After closing the apartment door, Caelus remembered something important as he set down his keys.
"The Domain should be opening again soon," he said.
Sylvia, however, hearing this, walked over and gently wrapped her arms around him from behind, resting her head against his back.
"It can wait for a little while," she said softly.
"You’ve been running around all day," she added.
"Just stay with me." she finished.
Caelus smiled warmly at her request. He turned around in her embrace and hugged her back tightly, feeling her soft warmth against him.
"Alright," he agreed. "A little while,"

After their hug, Sylvia led Caelus to the bedroom with a mischievous smile playing on her lips.
She kissed him deeply the moment they crossed the threshold, her soft lips pressing against his with growing intensity as her hands slid down his chest.
She slowly dropped to her knees before him with a hungry look in her eyes.
