Chapter 234: The Dumbfounded Crowd! The Broke Student and the Popstar
Hearing the words of the student, Caelus did not even wait for Chad. He swiftly slipped into the crowd of students and hastened his pace. His heart quickened with each passing moment.
It had been two days since he saw Sylvia, and now things had changed.
She was so close to him, but until now, he did not even know she was this close.
He believed in fate. If your fates do not align, you will never meet in life.
But he believed today was the day his and Sylvia’s fate aligned.
----
David Wilson, the head of Caelus’s town, was already in the front. Waiting outside the school building with him were other classmates of Caelus, Jennifer and Ryan.
Everyone was eagerly waiting for Sylvia. Being a celebrity aside, some among them were her fans.
"Do not worry, guys. I will make sure that everyone gets an autograph. She knows me. My dad is very close with her sponsor."
David was flexing his status while he had the time to do so. It worked like a charm among the crowd that had gathered around him.
Everyone cheered for David while he put a smug look on his face.
Chad and Caelus had already arrived at the scene. The crowd was full, and when Caelus tried to get closer, his fellow classmates glared at him.
"Hey bro, I was here first. Get in line."
Caelus, however, looked at the man with indifference. His singular equipped trait, Telekinesis, activated. Immediately, the legs of the students gathered around began moving, making way for Caelus.
Just as quickly, the doors of the school building slowly opened. The principal and Sylvia’s class teacher walked out. With them was Sylvia.
Everyone held their breath upon seeing Sylvia.
"She is beautiful," one of the girls in the crowd could not help but say in envy.
She was beautiful as well, but compared to Sylvia, it was nothing.
It was a difference between a hill and a mountain range.
The crowd immediately erupted, calling out her name. David, on the other hand, walked forward with a confident look on his face, intending to greet Sylvia.
However, while everyone cheered and rushed toward her, Sylvia’s eyes were not on them. Instead, she was rapidly scanning the crowd with her heart racing.
In the end, Sylvia’s eyes settled on the center of the crowd.
The following instant, the crowd parted. A handsome figure with jet-black hair and a lean yet muscular physique rushed out of it.
Sylvia’s face broke into a myriad of expressions seeing the man.
"Miss Sylvia," David began speaking, but Sylvia had already begun moving.
Her figure closed the distance between her and Caelus in two short steps.
"Caelus," her voice cut through the crowd as Sylvia jumped right into Caelus’s embrace.
The sound of soft sobbing came from Sylvia as she held tightly onto Caelus without a care in the world. Her figure trembled as she clutched Caelus with all her strength.
Caelus’s body stiffened seeing Sylvia’s reaction. She was crying? This went beyond his expectations.
He was expecting her to crack a joke, take him by the hand, and lead him somewhere private.
But to think she would break down like this.
Caelus had underestimated Sylvia’s love for him.
He wanted to slap himself in the face for not immediately going forward and giving her a tight hug.
"I am sorry, Sylvia," Caelus said softly.
These two days must have been hard for her. Caelus was calm because he grew up in this world with the same parents, the same friends, and the same setting.
But for Sylvia, who had been thrown into this world, it must have been hard. Especially without knowing where he was.
He had failed to recognize how much pain Sylvia was going through until now.
Caelus closed his eyes in pain.
He pulled Sylvia from the embrace and led her by the hand to somewhere quiet, as the crowd watched with dumbfounded expressions.
Chad in the crowd was even more shocked. "What the hell."
No one dared to speak or even stop Caelus from taking the crying Sylvia away.
----
Once Caelus took her somewhere quiet, he hugged Sylvia.
"Stop crying, Sylvia. I am here," Caelus said with a sigh.
Sylvia hiccuped harder hearing this. Her hands held tightly to Caelus.
"Caelus... Caelus..." she repeatedly called out his name softly.
"I am here," Caelus affirmed each time with patience. He gently held onto her. "I am here, Sylvia. You do not need to cry anymore."
Caelus almost teared up seeing Sylvia’s state, but he held it in.
He finally understood how much this girl loved him. It was only two days, but it had reduced her to such a state.
"I promise to never leave your side again, Sylvia," he finally said. "Now that we are in the real world, no one will separate us."
Sylvia finally stopped crying. She swiftly began wiping away her tears.
As soon as she did that, she leaned forward and kissed Caelus.
All the leftover emotions she had were conveyed through the kiss they shared.
A few minutes later, Caelus and Sylvia sat at the edge of a building’s rooftop. They watched Queens and its traffic as the wind gently tugged at them.
The noise of the city felt far away from up here. It was just the two of them now.
Sylvia’s head gently rested on his shoulder, her arms coiled around his own.
Neither of them spoke. Caelus understood that what Sylvia wanted right now was his company.
And he gave her just that.
His mind felt quiet for the first time since crossing over. No system. No abyss. Just her warmth against his side.
Then, out of nowhere, Sylvia pinched Caelus.
"Ouch..." Caelus let out a surprised yelp.
But Sylvia did not stop there. She continued pinching Caelus with a blank look on her face.
"Ow... Sylvia. That hurts," Caelus said helplessly while rubbing the place Sylvia pinched.
In the end, a smile finally broke out on Sylvia’s face.
As long as she was smiling again, he would happily let her pinch him all she wanted.
