Chapter 1866: Real Training and Different Needles
Bam!
Nukra’s fist slammed into Adam’s face, sending him flying backward halfway across the training hall.
Everything was spinning before his eyes as he tried to regain his balance, but now Nukra wasn’t his only opponent.
Tap.
In one fluid motion, Amelia appeared in his path, her palm filled with the power of frost.
"Damn it! I have to dodge!"
In an attempt to do something, Adam created an energy platform beneath his feet, propelling himself through the air in a random direction. He hadn’t had time to determine his trajectory, but Nukra knew exactly where he would end up in a moment.
"I’m already here!" Nukra shouted, running across the wooden floor of the training hall, leaving icy footprints in her wake.
Acting on instinct, Adam crossed his arms in front of him just as Nukra’s fist slammed straight into his wrist, pressing his arms against his own chest.
"GRHHH!" Adam clenched his teeth, barely able to withstand her impact.
Step.
His foot touched the ground, and his body trembled. He stepped back a few meters, breathing heavily. He needed at least a few seconds to catch his breath.
"Agh... Agh... Agh..." Adam rested his hands on his knees, looking up at Amelia and Nukra.
Just as Nukra had said, Adam now had to fight both of them at once. It was a whole new level of difficulty, no doubt, but Adam didn’t feel like he was making any progress.
’Tsk, I can’t seem to get anything right. Getting the Dark Energy was easier than figuring out how the Soul Stance works!’
Adam frowned as he closed his eyes.
’Hey, maybe one of you has some ideas?’
However, there was only silence in response. The Silver Weaver, Lone Blaze, and Lakma, even his Evolution Tree, none of them had control over Adam’s aura, and that was precisely the core of the Soul Stance.
"Stop thinking!" Nukra shouted from a distance. "Is it really that hard for you to understand that your body, energy, and aura need to become one?"
"Agh...?"
Adam gave her a confused look.
"Amelia said something different! Aren’t energy and aura the foundation of the Soul Stance?"
Nukra waved her hand dismissively.
"Yeah, something like that. That’s what everyone says, but I think it’s nonsense. When I attained my Soul Stance, I used every resource I had! I wanted to win so badly that every part of my power was working at its limit!"
Strangely enough, Nukra’s approach was much closer to Adam’s than to Amelia’s pragmatic and gradual one.
Sure, Amelia was a far better teacher than Nukra, but Adam wasn’t your average Phantom either.
Adam remained silent for a long time, reflecting on what he’d heard.
Then, he nodded deeply and straightened up.
"I see. Amelia, I want you to step out of the training session."
His calm eyes turned toward her.
"Hmm?" Amelia was caught off guard. "What does that mean? If there’s something you’re not happy with in our training process, we can discuss it."
Adam shook his head.
"I have no complaints about you."
Tap.
Adam reached out his hand as a wide black needle appeared in his grip.
"However, we could keep up these training sessions for a long time, months, if not longer. If I’m not in any danger, I won’t be able to merge my aura and energy. So... I know what needs to be done."
A dangerous glint flashed across Adam’s eyes as he looked at Nukra.
"We have to fight. No rules. No giving up, the fight will only end when one of us can no longer continue. Also, you have to stay at the Baron Level. There’s no point in lowering your power any further."
It didn’t take much convincing.
"Huh! I’m ready to kick your ass right now!" Nukra exclaimed excitedly.
Amelia hadn’t expected Adam to go this far, but she also realized that both she and Adam had hit a plateau. They needed something to break the deadlock.
"I understand. In that case, I’ll make sure the barrier can definitely withstand all your attacks."
Adam nodded as he aimed his needle at Nukra.
"Hey, you’re a Lord, right? So you have an Arc, right?"
"Of course. Do you want to see my weapon?"
Without waiting for an answer, Nukra clenched her fists tightly and slammed them together.
With a bright flash of frost, rings of black iron appeared on her hands. They weren’t connected, but they were dense and heavy enough to give each of her punches extra impact.
Each ring was carved with grooves along which cold air rushed, gradually accelerating and gathering into small whirlwinds around her hands.
"Huh, not bad, though I thought you’d have something like a huge sledgehammer or an axe."
"Why would I need a hammer when my hands are a deadly weapon?"
Adam nodded as his expression changed.
For some reason, Nukra felt a chill run down her spine. This only happened to her when she faced dangerous opponents.
But Adam was two power stages below her. This wasn’t supposed to happen.
"Agh...?"
A split second later, the white needle was reflected in Nukra’s eyes, even though Adam was still standing in the same spot.
The sharp needle tip was moving toward her across the entire training hall, aiming to pierce right through her heart.
Whooooosh!
Acting on instinct, Nukra leaped to the side, her pupils dilating as she watched the white needle extend.
Tap.
She landed to the side just as the white needle reached its maximum length, which was nearly half the length of the training hall. That was enough to classify this as a long-range attack.
"What the hell is that?" Nukra gulped, turning to Adam.
She knew about his abilities, his needle, his threads, and much more, since she occasionally watched new recordings of his battles. They appeared shortly after his last battle, not only at the Citadel but at Varreyn as well.
However, she had never seen his needle capable of anything like this.
"This?" Adam pointed at his needle, raising his hand. "It’s a trick I had to learn to heal Vador. I have to admit, you’re the first person I’ve ever used it against."
Tremble!
With a tremor, the long white needle grew significantly wider and larger, transforming in less than a second into a black greatsword that was bigger than Adam himself.
Nukra’s eyes widened as she watched the massive sword come crashing down on her.
’Shit...’
