Chapter 81: What If...
Inside a dimly lit office room, Blood sat. A thin smile spread across his face as he stared across the desk.
He had his phone up to his ear as he took a very important call.
It was from an unexpected person, and the message itself shocked him deeply.
After all he’d seen and experienced, there weren’t many things that surprised Blood since he always kept an open mind, knowing anything could happen, but this was far beyond the bounds of what he thought was possible.
This was a situation he would never foresee in a million years. And a part of him doubted what he was hearing.
He sat silently, stunned, before clearing his throat and answering the person on the other end of the line.
"Tell him I accept his terms, but if he does anything stupid, I’ll kill her instantly. I’ll message you the details of where and when we’ll be meeting."
With that, he hung up his phone and placed it down on his desk, his eyes drifting up to the girl sitting across from him.
Blonde hair and a face cute enough to pass for a model. She sat with her arms and legs crossed.
The look on her face was one of absolute scorn. From her eyes, you would never guess that she was captured; instead, it looked as if she was looking down on the man in front of her.
"Your boyfriend is trying to rescue you," Blood said, shifting to a comfortable position in his seat.
Amelia’s eyes widened in surprise, but she quickly regained her composure when she saw the smileon Blood’s face widen.
"Tell him he doesn’t have to. You wouldn’t dare hurt me since you know who my father is."
"Tsk! Spoiled princess. Is he your loyal dog? Who would’ve thought that the ice princess of the Veymont Conglomerate would have her own boy toy. It’s always the ones who had strick up bringing, tsk tsk tsk."
"Can we get this over with? I have somewhere to be," Amelia said indifferent to his mocking, but then she remembered something. "Before, when you were talking on the phone, you said something about a meeting."
"We’re you always this slow, I’m meeting with your boyfriend of course."
Amelia’s indifferent expression immediately cracked.
"Wait, what! There’s no need for that."
"Your boyfriend has made an offer that I can’t possibly refuse. You forget that he’s the real reason why we captured you."
"My father—"
"Yes, your father. I had an interesting chat with him before you came into my office."
Amelia’s grip tightened around the armrest of her chair as her pupils sank to the size of a needle.
"Is it true that you ran away from home?" Blood teased.
At his words, a cold realization dawned on her. Suddenly her heart began to race and she found it hard to breathe.
"I-Is my father coming here?"
Blood’s grin widened. Blood was familiar with Amelia’s father. He saw him a few times though he never spoke with him. Still just seeing him from a distance made him felt fear, strong enough to make him never to approach this man.
The only reason he took the chance now was because of his disagreement with his brother and he thought just maybe this could give him the chance to gain a new ally.
"Of course he is coming to see his baby girl. In fact, both of them are coming here for you. It’s a race to see who gets here first; either way, I win." Blood grinned.
’If my father gets here first, then I’ll never get to see Liam again. What will happen if he finds out that I’m having a child?’
Amelia’s heart raced as she thought about what would happen if her father got here first.
’On the other hand, if Liam gets here first, then he might get hurt. Either Blood or my father will try to kill him.
If he’ll get hurt, then I don’t want him to come.
He should be fine without me; I’m the one who needed him in the first place. I’ll figure out how to deal with my father and protect our child.’
...
As I floated in the sky above the massive army, I could feel a violent energy coursing through my entire body.
The magic inside of me felt unpredictable. I could barely grasp it before it changed into something different.
It was electric but also a bit terrifying.
The first spell I wanted to try was the firebolt spell. I directed it towards the massive orc holding the princess by her throat.
The activation was longer than usual, and before the spell even fired, bolts of fire crackled around me like electricity.
The energy was moving so chaotically that it was hard to aim it at a specific target, but before I could get a hang of it, magic exploded out of me.
Dark clouds suddenly formed in the sky before bolts of fire rained down from the sky.
This spell, which was supposed to be a level 3 spell, bathed the battlefield in its power.
By some luck, one of the bolts managed to strike the orc.
The orc roared in pain and tossed the princess aside and turned his angry gaze to the sky.
At the same time, the strange demon who was floating in the air as he prepared to kill Dracule suddenly stopped and turned his gaze to the sky.
He lazily waved his hand, which created a small magical shield to protect himself from the raining firebolts.
’He’s powerful.’
I could tell that from a glance, but I didn’t have time to worry about it.
If the message I sent through Alfred doesn’t work, then the only thing I could do is kidnap one of the Wild Hog’s guild members and make them tell me by force.
That giant orc staring at me with bloodshot eyes looks high ranking enough to know where their leader is.
There was intelligence in its eyes. It was too smart for a species that was supposed to be primitive.
He must be a player.
But his power level seemed too weak for him to be Blood.
Without wasting a second, I dove from the sky, using my wings to propel me downward like a meteorite.
The giant orc stood its ground.
’I wonder how my other spells have changed.’
