Chapter 1304: Chapter 93: The Janitors_2
Serey slipped through the crowd with Bode and Wei’Er, closely following behind Bologue; the Undying Club was only this large, and they didn’t know where Bologue was rushing to, but soon Serey understood.
Bologue dashed along the straight corridor, attempting to reach the corridor’s end.
The corridor has no end, this is a fact known to every Undead; Serey had spent months moving forward but still couldn’t reach the door at the end.
What’s behind the door? Who lives there?
For so many years, the Undead had discussed this countless times, but there was never a definite answer.
"Is this related to that door?" Serey murmured.
Bologue’s steps were so firm, it was as if he was certain that this strange incident was related to the door and the one behind it. Serey felt an inexplicable chill and fear, as if witnessing a grand revelation.
In the next moment, Serey’s breath halted.
The Undead following behind Bologue all stopped, holding their breath one after another.
That corridor’s end, which seemed unattainable in their eyes, was drawn closer and closer under Bologue’s sprint, until he stopped, truly standing before the door.
Bode murmured quietly, "Oh my god..."
Bologue raised his hand, gripping the doorknob and vigorously twisted.
In the oppressive silence, the mechanical clicking sound, the friction of the door against the threshold, dust falling... all were so clear, as if hammering heavily on the Undead’s eardrums.
The door was not heavy, yet for Bologue every pulling inch brought massive resistance, almost requiring all his strength.
The door swung completely open, and Bologue stood dazed at the entrance.
Serey swallowed, cautiously following up, with Wei’Er and Bode doing the same; then several of them poked their heads from behind Bologue, nervously observing the world behind the door.
There was nothing.
No scenery beyond imagination, nor any unimaginably mysterious hideaway.
Behind the door at the corridor’s end was just a narrow storage room covered in dust.
Bologue walked in, did a brief inspection, and found nothing strange.
"Bologue, what’s going on?"
Even Wei’Er felt tense this time, their hair stood up, pacing silently around Bologue’s legs.
"Nothing... nothing."
Bologue shook his head, turned to leave the ordinary storage room, adding a sentence no one could understand.
"He’s awake, he’s left this place."
After two steps, Bologue roared, swinging his fist powerfully and smashing it against the wall; he did not use any Ether, only his own strength, for this a shallow dent appeared on the wall, and Bologue’s fist was covered with blood.
"Bour..."
Serey wanted to ask more; this morning seemed absurd beyond measure, everyone clueless, but he wasn’t able to, as Bode stopped him.
"As you can see, he’s not in a great mood," Bode said.
"Bologue isn’t the kind to easily lose his temper," Wei’Er added, "if he’s not telling us, then it’s best we don’t know."
Curiosity got the better of him, Serey was still unwilling to give up, but Wei’Er’s next words made him completely silent.
"Oh come on, you finding retirement a little too boring?"
Serey paused his actions, standing silently in place, his eyes showing infinite conflict, finally transformed into a sigh.
The heavy sound of a closing door echoed from afar, Bologue left the Undying Club.
Serey staggered over, stepping up onto the bar counter, eyes slightly vacant and unfocused.
"Everyone, let’s forget that little episode just now!"
Serey cheered, his experience dancing with poles elsewhere made him adept at stirring up the atmosphere.
"We’re all gathered together here, let’s have a drink together!"
The Undead looked at each other, like sufferers of amnesia, putting the recent events behind them, raising their glasses and echoing Serey’s words.
"Party!"
"Eternal party!"
The cheers pierced through layers of doors, crashing down the bustling streets, Bologue faintly heard them, but he had no time to care.
His steps were swift, like a leopard, ignoring the red lights in warning, leaping into the Order Bureau amidst sudden brakes and honking.
Standing in the bustling Central Courtyard, Bologue suddenly felt bewildered, the connection between an officer and the Decision Room was one-way, only the Decision Room could summon him, he couldn’t go there of his own will.
"Nesanel... Nesanel!"
Bologue considered, but just as the thought formed, he dismissed it; Nesanel was elusive, where would one find him?
Although the Audience Chamber was like his office, it wasn’t a place he could enter at will.
Typically, Bologue would calmly sit and think things over carefully, but now his mind was flooded with chaotic, frenzied thoughts, unable to bear it for a moment.
A novel idea arose in Bologue’s mind.
Within the Order Bureau, Bologue swiftly ran, causing employees along the way to gasp in surprise; some recognized Bologue, speculating if something major had happened.
Bologue veered left and right, pushed open another door, and the incessant chatter and noise erupted.
"Oh?"
"Bologue?"
"Morning! Bologue!"
Inside the Outpost, the Furya mob swarmed around, Bologue raised his hand tiredly, and one after another the Furas lined up, circled around Bologue, high-fiving him.
"I have some matters I need your help with, Furya," Bologue said.
"What matters?" Furya asked back.
"I need to go to the Decision Room," Bologue added, "I know this violates regulations and is highly risky..."
"The Decision Room?"
Another Furya interrupted Bologue.
"You mean the command center of the Order Bureau?" Another Furya continued Bologue’s words.
"Yes, the Decision Room, the command center of the Order Bureau, and also the consciousness cluster of the Kenshi Void Realm’s intelligence," Bologue continued.
Furya, also known as a consciousness cluster of the Ruins District, found this not much of a secret.
"Oh, let me think..."
Furya stopped, crossed her arms, closed her eyes, and tilted her head slightly in thought, then another Furya did the same motion, then another, and another... in no time, nearly all the Furyas stopped, holding a thoughtful pose.
Bologue hadn’t anticipated that his query would occupy so many of Furya’s computational units.
"Hmm..."
After a long wait, Furya opened her eyes, and all the Furyas did the same, speaking in unison.
"Impossible, it says I’ve crossed the boundary."
"Crossed the boundary?"
Bologue sighed helplessly, thinking so it was, Furya hadn’t fully interfaced with Kenshi yet, currently existing only as an external Void Realm.
"Sorry, I was a bit too reckless." Bologue gradually calmed down; humans tend to make irrational decisions in times of anxiety.
Furya said again, "No worries, it simply doesn’t have enough computing power to pay attention to the Kenshi side for now."
Bologue looked at her in confusion, "What does this... mean?"
"It also said, remember the regulations."
Furya had no intention of explaining further, simply relaying the counterpart’s order straightforwardly.
Bologue stood in place, silent for a while before nodding gently, "Alright, I understand."
Without saying more, Bologue turned and left directly; his back seemed somewhat lost and forlorn.
The Furyas watched Bologue’s departure, whispering among themselves.
"They seem so strange."
"Are they like us?"
"No idea."
They weren’t talking about Bologue.
In the Furyas’ vision, Bologue wasn’t alone; following him was a procession of shadowy figures in janitorial uniforms, marked with the symbol of the Order Bureau on their attire.
