Chapter 1302: Chapter 92: The Fraudster 3
Leviathan thought for a moment and spoke with a hint of laughter in his voice.
"For love and peace."
Love and peace.
It was the same answer, a similar response Bologue had heard many times before. Hearing it again from Leviathan, he only found it absurd and laughable.
"Are you serious?"
Bologue asked again, a question he had asked many times before. Knowing the answer, Bologue still wanted to confirm it once more.
Leviathan waved his hand and said, "You know me, Bologue. I might play tricks and schemes, but I never lie."
Bologue’s expression froze, then he laughed unrestrainedly. Leviathan paused for a moment, then joined in the laughter and snapped his fingers.
"It’s time for you to leave."
The familiar feeling of detachment appeared again. Bologue could feel his consciousness peeling away, trying to resist but unable to fight back.
His vision gradually fell into darkness, and Bologue collapsed heavily. His blood-colored skin turned gray-white like fading hues, devoid of any vitality, cold as iron and stone.
Sai Zong watched this scene, then looked around at the countless corpses. He thought of the mythical gorgon whose gaze could turn the living to stone.
"What are all these?" Sai Zong asked curiously.
"The price."
Leviathan replied, "You’ve been in charge of the Undying Club for so long. You should understand that a perfect Undying Body doesn’t exist in this world."
"Bologue thought his undead body was perfect, but in truth, someone was paying the price for him where he couldn’t see." Leviathan remarked, glancing at the gray-white corpses.
Sai Zong withdrew his gaze from the surrounding bodies and continued to ask, "Where are they?"
"Over at the Eye of Omniscience," Leviathan reminded, "By the way, do you remember what I told you?"
"Fraud, deceive them. Our goal is to continue the New World Plan, to create a new pasture," Sai Zong’s eyes brimmed with murderous intent, "but the New World’s pasture doesn’t need seven ranchers."
"Exactly, exactly that."
Leviathan agreed, then prepared to take Sai Zong away to meet other kin at the Eye of Omniscience. But Sai Zong still stood there, staring blankly at him.
"What’s wrong?"
"A bit curious."
"Curious about what?"
"Curious as to why you dare to do this," Sai Zong found it hard to understand, "Those things you confessed to me, those secrets... if you can’t persuade me, do you know what that means?"
"Of course I know. You don’t even need to do it yourself. Just tell my secrets to the other kin, and they’ll set aside all disputes and interests to think of ways to kill me first."
Leviathan analyzed and said straightforwardly, "Facing their united force, I’m bound to lose, no chance of winning."
"Yes, but you told me so easily... We don’t have any deep trust between us. I don’t think you’re crazy or stupid," Sai Zong said, "but I just can’t understand why you’d recklessly make such a decision. It’s utterly irrational."
"There’s nothing irrational about it, just a bit of my own perverse pleasure."
Leviathan replied with a smile, "I like to gamble, Sai Zong. I like to place all my bets on the fragility of human nature."
"You’re gambling on my humanity?" Sai Zong found it an outrageous joke, unable to believe it, "Gamble on the humanity of a Chosen One, even a Devil?"
Leviathan was overjoyed, "Yes, don’t you think winning such a bet offers a greater sense of accomplishment and unparalleled excitement?"
Sai Zong hesitated, facing this deceiver full of lies, unsure whether Leviathan was speaking the truth or lies... or perhaps it was true, but the underlying meaning might not relate to seeking thrills.
Leviathan asked in return, "Did I win the bet?"
Sai Zong didn’t answer but stepped forward, speaking without turning back, "We should go find them."
Watching his thin silhouette, Leviathan followed at a leisurely pace while strange laughter echoed within the writhing shadows.
