Chapter 1562: Chapter 968: The Path of Transcendence (17): Victor_2
"What a pity. I’m well aware of how much it hurts to forcefully fuse a Divine Soul, but... who told you to refuse to accept the inheritance of your own accord."
"Since you won’t accept my lord’s inheritance willingly, I can only invite you to accept it passively..."
Eve gazed coldly at the sighing Rigdar. There was no anger or fear in those violet eyes, only thick, biting sarcasm:
"Inheritance? Rigdar... you really dressed up devouring in such grandiose terms... Thirty years have passed, and you’re still running the same routine."
Rigdar wasn’t the least bit angered by Eve’s mockery.
He smiled faintly and said:
"Your Grace Eve, your Elf clansmen once said something rather amusing. Now, I’ll give those words back to you..."
"Since ancient times... schemes win hearts!"
As he spoke, his smile grew even brighter:
"Your Grace Eve, even if it’s a scheme, you still walked right into it. You should never have entered my lord’s consciousness temple. From the moment you stepped in, you had already lost..."
"Your Grace Eve, thank you for everything you’ve done for my lord, for all the effort you’ve put in over the years to strengthen your body. With the World Tree as a new divine vessel, my lord is destined to be reborn!"
"Now... please become the nourishment for my lord’s awakening. Don’t worry... I’ll record your tale in the history of the Segis Universe, and everything about you... shall belong to my lord!"
With that, Rigdar once again raised that hideous scepter high and pointed it distantly at Eve.
Even more surging black mist billowed out, rushing toward Eve...
In the next instant, Eve’s figure was completely engulfed.
And her aura gradually weakened and weakened, until it finally vanished altogether...
Meanwhile, an ancient, timeworn yet vast and majestic presence began to rise slowly, like the first light of dawn.
Rigdar’s smile grew even more radiant.
He stood before the black mist, silently waiting. His gaze was full of hope and anticipation, his expression barely able to conceal his excitement.
The vast presence kept growing stronger and stronger...
Yet just as it was about to reach its peak, a sudden change occurred.
Murmured prayers could be faintly heard, as if crossing the void, slowly reverberating within the temple.
Along with the hazy whispers, more sounds emerged one after another, messy and chaotic like a bustling marketplace, mixed with all kinds of droning booms, like Thunderbolts, like giant beasts...
As those strange sounds rose, the black mist abruptly churned, forming into all sorts of bizarre shapes.
Some resembled iron boxes with four wheels, strange "beasts"; some were like steel "monsters" screaming past like eagles; and there were also all kinds of structures even more spectacular and grand than the buildings of the Arcane Civilization...
The sounds grew louder and louder, and the mist roiled ever more violently, until finally... with a deafening crash like a tolling bell, everything came to an abrupt halt.
The sounds vanished.
The churning of the mist ceased.
And that vast presence... froze where it was.
In the next instant, all those bizarre forms of mist suddenly collapsed!
Then, they began to draw back...
No, not draw back.
They were being absorbed by something within the black fog.
Immediately after, under Rigdar’s stunned gaze, that vast presence suddenly deflated like a punctured balloon!
The mist gradually dispersed, darkness receded in the blink of an eye, and Eve’s figure reappeared.
She was completely unscathed, and the aura around her seemed even more formidable than before.
She lightly flicked her Divine Dress, looking at Rigdar with a half-smile:
"Your Grace Rigdar, it seems I’ve disappointed you yet again."
Seeing Eve unhurt and even faintly stronger, Rigdar’s eyes bulged:
"No! That’s impossible! How are you still conscious? How can you devour my lord’s Power of Laws?!"
Eve gently shook her head:
"There’s nothing impossible about it, Rigdar... I already told you, it’s been thirty years and you’re still using the same routine. So of course... I can give you the same line right back."
She smiled slightly as she spoke:
"Since ancient times... schemes win hearts."
"Of course, I’d like to add one more phrase after that—"
Eve hooked the corner of her lips and enunciated each word:
"A second blooming."
After speaking, He stretched out His hand, and specks of radiance gathered at His fingertips.
Behind Eve, strands of golden Power of Laws appeared. That Power of Laws kept shifting, turning into one majestic scene after another...
Some of Segis Universe.
And some of Blue Star.
Yet in all those scenes, the protagonist was the same.
That was the players.
"Elves... humans..."
Watching those illusory scenes, Rigdar’s expression shifted slightly.
"It seems... you’ve recognized them too."
Eve said.
As He spoke, He shook His head:
"But what a pity... you are merely the Guardian consciousness left by the creator. You, who operate with the creator’s laws as your root and order... will never be able to comprehend their existence."
"The prerequisite of devouring and assimilation is analysis. If the creator’s consciousness were still clear, perhaps He could have devoured my power. But unfortunately... your very purpose is to awaken Him."
"A slumbering creator has no ability to analyze laws beyond the Segis Universe... much less devour me, whose Divine Power is anchored by the souls of Blue Star!"
"Rigdar, you lost from the very beginning, because I already possessed the power to counterbalance the creator."
"You, who needed to design a trap just to have the confidence to fight me, could never possibly defeat me."
The golden Power of Laws intertwined behind Eve, outlining streaks of dazzling brilliance.
The aura on Eve’s body was heavy and boundless.
His hair fluttered, the pure Divine Dress puffed slightly under the effect of laws and Divine Power, and together with that constantly interlacing Holy Light, He appeared even more towering, even more sacred.
As for Rigdar, his expression shifted from shock to disbelief, then from disbelief to panic, and finally... from panic into fury.
His face gradually twisted into a ferocious grimace; he completely lost his former serenity, and roared in near-madness:
"No! This is impossible! You’re nothing but nourishment for my Lord’s further ascension! This is impossible!"
As he spoke, he once again swung that hideous Divine Scepter, and black mist surged out anew.
Soon, that Power of Laws belonging to the creator once more shrouded Eve.
However, Eve only gently shook His head and lightly extended a finger.
Golden radiance blossomed at His fingertips. This time, the power infused with the Blue Star Seal merely gave a light tug, and tore that black mist apart.
Rigdar’s eyes widened, his expression growing even more contorted:
"No! No!"
He roared as he continued to wave the creator’s Divine Scepter.
Of course, every one of his attacks was casually dissolved by Eve.
Until that hideous Divine Scepter no longer contained the slightest power, and Rigdar collapsed to the ground, his gaze vacant.
Eve took a step forward, came to stand before him, and looked down on him from above:
"It’s over."
Rigdar trembled slightly.
His eyes gradually cleared, and his demeanor returned to calm.
He cast Eve a complicated glance and let out a bitter laugh:
"Yes... it’s over."
With that, accompanied by a long, distant sigh, his body suddenly shattered.
And that hideous Divine Scepter fell to the ground with a crisp clatter.
Fine cracks appeared in the void, and under Eve’s startled gaze, the world collapsed with a roar.
His vision cleared, and He was still standing in the temple, while Rigdar was still standing before the divine throne.
This Cosmic Guardian had just picked up the scepter.
And the temple doors behind Eve had not yet closed.
Everything... seemed to have returned to how it was when He had just entered the temple.
The Starry Sky Guardian Rigdar let out a soft sigh, once again held the Divine Scepter up with both hands, and then said respectfully:
"Your Grace Eve, it is you who has won."
This time, the Divine Scepter did not change.
