Chapter 1479: Chapter 924: Sunrise Dawn (Part 2): Quest
With a soft crack, the monster’s massive body shattered into motes of light, scattering and drifting away.
Strands of golden radiance surged toward Tony and poured into his body. Tony only felt a warm current rushing rapidly through his whole being as system notifications for experience gained spammed across his vision...
In just an instant, he had accumulated enough experience to level up.
Tony was overjoyed and chose to level up without hesitation. Immediately, ring after ring of golden light burst out from his body as his level climbed rapidly, only stopping when he reached level 10.
It wasn’t that he couldn’t keep leveling; it was that after level 10 he needed to undergo the Black Iron class change.
The system prompt stated that only by going to the Goddess’s temple and praying before Her statue could he change class and advance to Black Iron.
"No wonder the streamers highly recommended this as a starting point. Just by killing one wild mob I shot straight up to level 10!"
Feeling the power in his body grow significantly stronger, Tony was excited.
"Clatter..."
The sound of weapons falling to the ground came from behind him.
Only then did Tony snap out of the joy of leveling up. He turned around and saw four hooded humans standing behind him, staring wide‑eyed at him as the glow of promotion still radiated from his body.
They were three men and one woman, all in tattered clothes and covered in wounds.
The one in the lead was an old man with snow‑white hair whose presence exerted an invisible pressure on Tony. To the old man’s left and right stood two human warriors, one tall and one short.
The only woman seemed to be a Mage, except the Magic Wand in her hand had long since broken into two pieces and been crudely reattached with some unknown material.
In her arms she clutched a Crystal Ball that shimmered with hazy light particles, holding it protectively.
The four of them looked at the newly descended Tony, their eyes full of shock.
Then they exclaimed a few sentences Tony couldn’t understand, and all dropped to their knees, prostrating themselves to him in worship...
Tony was startled.
His gaze swept over the humans, and just as he was fretting over how to communicate with them, a new system prompt slid across his vision...
[Ding—]
[Language detected: Common Tongue · Dawn branch. Load into language system?]
Language system?
Tony froze for a moment.
Then he was delighted:
"Load!"
As soon as he spoke, a stream of new information poured into his mind. The entire game system flickered slightly, and in the next moment Tony realized he could already understand what these humans were saying:
"Praise nature, praise life, praise the great World Tree, Eve!"
"Mysterious and powerful warrior, are you the Divine Envoy sent by the Goddess to save the world?"
Eve... the World Tree!
Tony looked at them, somewhat surprised.
He recalled some of the game info he’d browsed earlier, his expression turning serious as he gave a slight nod:
"Hello, I am a Chosen One summoned to this world by the Goddess. You can just call me Tony."
He paused there for a moment, then added:
"Tony Yan Sha."
Yan Sha was the surname of the Elf Tribe he’d chosen.
As a player who really cared about immersion, Tony slipped into character quite naturally.
"A Chosen One?!"
Hearing Tony’s words, the humans instantly grew excited, especially when the female Mage at the back got a clear look at Tony’s iconic pointed ears.
"Pointed ears! An Elf! Are you the legendary Elf, the warrior the Goddess summoned from another world?!"
She asked excitedly.
Seeing the expressions of worship on what had to be NPC humans, Tony felt a little embarrassed and nodded.
Once he acknowledged it, the group grew even more agitated.
The old man in the lead even burst into tears.
He took a step forward, bowed deeply to Tony, and choked out:
"Honored Chosen One! We’ve finally found you! This is wonderful! In that case... we can finally complete our mission!"
Tony was completely bewildered by his words.
It wasn’t until the old man called out to the back that the female Mage came forward and respectfully offered up the Crystal Ball with both hands.
"Honored Chosen One... this is the city core we found in the Ferola Ruins! We can finally hand it over to you!"
The group spoke excitedly.
Tony was even more confused.
His gaze swept over them, and he scratched his head awkwardly before asking:
"Um... sorry, I just arrived in this world and I don’t know much yet. Where is this place? And the mission you’re talking about... what is it?"
Hearing Tony’s question, this time it was the humans’ turn to be stunned.
"Just arrived in this world? But... isn’t the place where the Chosen Ones descend the legendary Holy City Shantem?"
The female Mage said, a bit at a loss.
And at that moment, several more monster roars echoed from afar.
The old man in the lead visibly stiffened, and the others immediately tensed up as well.
"Honored Chosen One, it’s not safe here. Let’s talk as we move..."
he said to Tony.
...
The sky of the Dawn Plane seemed to always be gloomy and overcast, with no sunlight in sight.
From time to time, tongue‑like flashes of lightning streaked across the heavens.
Beyond a stretch of barren hills, flames leapt and crackled in a campfire, and some unknown Demon Beast—looking very much like a rat—sizzled and dripped fat on a simple roasting rack above it.
Tony sat at the fire, shoulder to shoulder with the four humans.
Melancholic background music flowed softly in his ears, tinged with loneliness and sorrow.
Tony wore a solemn expression as he mulled over the information the old man had just shared with him.
