Chapter 4: Chapter 4 Rejecting Visitors
Alice Conley smoothed things over, saying, "Actually, Mabel looks... ahem, pretty good like this."
But to be honest, Mabel Quinn is indeed quite attractive, with her arched willow eyebrows, dark almond-shaped eyes, an oval face that isn't the trendy pointed chin but matches her features perfectly, a petite nose, lips like light-colored roses, and that delicate skin that even Evelyn envies, often exclaiming that it's a waste of good looks for Mabel to not dress up well.
When they reached the pub entrance, just as the three of them were entering, a waiter stopped them. He glanced at Mabel Quinn and asked, "Excuse me, are you Miss Mabel Quinn?"
Mabel Quinn was taken aback, not expecting the other person to know her name. "Yes, I am."
"I'm sorry, these two ladies can enter, but Miss Quinn, I'm afraid our pub cannot accommodate you."
Huh?!
Mabel Quinn was dumbfounded, "What is that supposed to mean?"
"Miss Quinn, please leave," the waiter said.
"Why?" At the very least, there should be a reason.
"We were just given such orders, as for the reason, we cannot disclose," the waiter explained. They had also only recognized her by seeing Mabel Quinn's photo in advance.
"This is refusal of service, and I can complain! I want to see your manager!" Mabel Quinn shouted. Being rejected by a dating site was one thing, but to be turned away from a pub gathering was unexpected.
Soon, the pub manager came over quickly, acting very nicely, but when it came to entering, he firmly stated that Mabel Quinn was not allowed inside the pub.
"If Miss Quinn wants to complain, we're very sorry, but we're just following orders from above," the pub manager said.
"Orders from above, which 'above'?"
"Sorry, we cannot disclose," the pub manager replied.
Now Evelyn and Alice Conley were also shocked, exchanging glances. Alice Conley said, "Since we can't go to this pub, let's inform our group and find another one."
"Yeah, this pub is being unreasonable. Why can't we go in?" Evelyn said irritably, taking out her phone to contact their meetup group.
The pub manager said, "Even if you try other pubs, I'm certain the result will be the same. I'm afraid no pub in the entire J City dares to accommodate Miss Quinn."
Evelyn and Alice Conley gasped at the pub manager's words and looked at Mabel Quinn in disbelief.
After a while, Alice Conley asked, "Mabel, did you offend someone?"
"..." Mabel Quinn was speechless. Even if she did offend someone, who could possibly have the power to make all the pubs in J City unwelcome her!
Is this something an ordinary person could do?
Suddenly, Evelyn's phone buzzed with a new message on WeChat, and she quickly said, "Those people are already urging us, asking why we haven't arrived yet."
