Chapter 1259: Chapter 1298: The Problem of Pretty and Ugly
Now, as they wander around the amusement park like this, there’s no guarantee that someone won’t recognize Kyle Kinston and come running over to watch. When that happens...it’s likely she and Ivy will end up on the news, and then her situation in Falling City will be known by her father, Daniel Harris, Atlas Shaw, and the others.
Mabel Quinn shudders at the thought and says to Kyle Kinston, "Um... Could you buy a hat to wear?"
"Why, are you afraid someone will recognize me?" He asks with a slight curl of his lips, evidently having overheard the conversation between the man and woman earlier.
"Today’s just about having fun with our daughter. If you’re recognized and a crowd comes over, it would probably scare Ivy." She replies.
Kyle Kinston glances at the restless little one holding Mabel Quinn’s hand and after a moment of contemplation says, "Alright, I’ll buy a hat and wear it then."
Only then does Mabel Quinn breathe a sigh of relief. Thankfully, there are plenty of small shops selling related products here, so buying a hat is quite easy.
As soon as Katherine Quinn, the little rascal, sees that they are picking out hats, she gets excited and wants to pick out a hat for herself, as well as for daddy and mommy.
The hats around Ocean Park all feature oceanic creatures, so Katherine Quinn chooses a shark hat, a conch hat, and a crab hat, while constantly exclaiming, "Nice, nice!"
Mabel Quinn finds it both amusing and exasperating. She and her daughter put on the conch hat and crab hat first, but Kyle Kinston hasn’t put on a hat yet; instead, he’s bent over, glaring at the small hands holding a hat meant for him.
"Too ugly." The CEO says quite seriously.
The little one stubbornly defends her taste, "Nice!"
Their similar phoenix eyes lock in confrontation, but eventually, it’s the CEO who first admits defeat. He sighs, squats down in front of the little one, and lowers his proud head.
He can be ruthless to others, but facing this little person, he can’t help but soften, always feeling he’s indebted to her, always wanting to make amends.
The little one joyfully puts the hat on her daddy’s head. After it’s on, she once again asserts confidently, "Nice, daddy is a nice big shark."
Kyle Kinston is flustered, and Mabel Quinn awkwardly hugs her daughter and says, "Alright, didn’t you have so many things you wanted to do? Mommy will take you to play."
"Okay!" The little one responds loudly.
"Let me carry her." Kyle Kinston offers, trying to take the daughter from her arms.
Mabel Quinn hesitates for a moment, saying, "I’ll carry her, it’s fine."
His phoenix eyes narrow as though he’s remembering something, and he doesn’t press further. However, while they’re in line for the pirate ship, after settling their daughter into the seat, Kyle Kinston suddenly grabs Mabel Quinn’s arm, leans in close to her ear, and in a voice only the two of them can hear says, "I would never use Ivy’s safety as a tactic. Yesterday, I accidentally didn’t hold her properly, but it wasn’t on purpose; it was because..."
His voice suddenly pauses.
She looks up at him and asks, "Because of what?"
He remains silent, while she suddenly smiles, "It doesn’t matter anymore. I only have one thing to say..." Her voice is so light, it’s as if she’s speaking with just her lips, "You once almost caused her not to be born, so in the future, you absolutely cannot harm her; this is my last bottom line."
