Chapter 1239: Chapter 1278: Have You Ever Loved Someone?

His body trembled violently, his face turning an ashen white, and those phoenix eyes slowly closed.

Her heartlessness felt as if it had torn him apart, so painful and unbearable. Is this the person he once loved? The one destined to be by his side for life?

Even if he placed all of his dignity at her feet, it was merely for her to trample upon.

He slowly stood up, and when his phoenix eyes opened again, they were filled with cold desolation, "Is that so? Then I know now, from this moment on, I will never let myself be trampled by you again."

The first time Atlas Shaw met Daniel Harris was in the living room of Mabel Quinn’s home. In the days before, Atlas had been stuck in a film crew due to filming, and it wasn’t until his scenes were finally wrapped that he had some free time.

The two men looked at each other, "Daniel Harris." Finally, Daniel extended his hand first, reaching it out to Atlas Shaw. 𝗳𝚛𝗲𝕖𝕨𝕖𝗯𝚗𝚘𝕧𝕖𝗹.𝗰𝗼𝕞

Atlas glanced at it and then shook hands with Daniel Harris, "Atlas Shaw. I’ve heard you and Alexander Quinn are old acquaintances."

"Yes, Mabel and I are old acquaintances," Daniel replied.

One referred to Mabel by her alias, while the other used her real name.

Mabel Quinn cleared her throat and said to Atlas Shaw, "Atlas, you can call me Mabel from now on. I plan to go back to my original name since there’s no need to hide it anymore."

Atlas Shaw looked at Mabel Quinn and then shrugged with a smile, "Alright, Mabel."

"Thank you for saving Mabel back then. She told me that without you, she and the child might not have survived," Daniel Harris said.

"It was she who saved herself. I only lent a helping hand; there’s no need to thank me," Atlas Shaw said. "It was her will to survive that saved her."

That incredible will to survive had shaken him, which is why he became interested in her and eventually grew to like her. He always thought that by being with such a person, maybe he could understand what is truly good about being alive.

"I’ll go make some tea for you," Mabel Quinn said, walking into the kitchen.

Atlas Shaw then asked, "What kind of old acquaintance are you and Mabel exactly?"

"She is the redemption of my life," Daniel Harris said. "If possible, I would guard her for a lifetime."

In one sentence, everything was made clear.

Atlas Shaw smiled, "It seems I have quite a few rivals in love."

"I’ve watched the films you’ve acted in," Daniel Harris said. The Harris Family also owned film companies, and they were the leaders in J City’s film industry. Daniel naturally knew some people in the circle. Even though he hadn’t seen Atlas Shaw with his own eyes before, he knew very well about him, "Your acting is impressive. You’ve acted in romance dramas, but you may not truly understand love. Your romance dramas are nowhere near as good as your other work."

Atlas Shaw raised an eyebrow slightly, a smile playing at the corner of his lips, "Is that so?"

"Have you ever truly loved someone? Loved so deeply that if they were no longer in the world, you’d feel as if living was nothing more than being a walking corpse, waking up or falling asleep thinking only of that person. Wanting to silently stay by their side, even if they never look at you for their entire life, just seeing them makes you feel happy. If you haven’t felt this, then it’s not really love. In my view, it’s merely some fondness and admiration," Daniel Harris said softly, but his words were astonishing.
