Chapter 513: Chapter 513: Do You Know What Baby Fat Is?
The idle Wen Shi stood behind the mother-in-law duo for a good while before Wen’s mother noticed he had returned.
"Why are you sneaking in like a thief, child? No sound at all when you come back."
Wen’s mother, startled by him, complained with some displeasure.
Yi Chichi turned her head and met Wen Shi’s grievous eyes. He whined pitifully, "I’ve been standing here for ages, and you two are completely immersed in your tasks."
"I’m earning money for baby formula."
Yi Chichi justified herself, and Wen’s mother countered, unwilling to be outdone, "I’m making shoes for Wen Yi."
Wen Shi, "..."
All right, it’s all for the children.
Ignoring him seems fair enough.
However—
"What should I do?"
"Go make dinner."
With a ready-made laborer, it would be wasteful not to use him.
Wen’s mother immediately took charge, and since Wen Shi was used to it, he didn’t resist and readily agreed.
Upon entering the kitchen, he discovered a plump eel in the basin.
He had never cooked this kind of thing and was afraid of ruining it.
So, he stuck his head out to seek reinforcements.
"Mom, I don’t know how to cook eel, could you handle it?"
Wen’s mother had just switched shoemaking materials, sighed upon hearing him, "What good are you if you can’t even cook fish?"
Wen Shi argued confidently, "If I don’t know, can’t I learn?"
Wen’s mother was delighted to hear that.
It’s good that he’s willing to learn.
"Then make sure you learn well."
"Got it!"
Yi Chichi couldn’t lend a hand with kitchen affairs, so while mother and son busied themselves with dinner, she focused on her own work.
Until Little Wen Yi woke up again and started making little noises.
She peeked at the crib, seeing the little guy clenching his tiny fists, straining hard, his little face flushed.
All right, it seems he’s making a mess.
Sure enough, just as this thought crossed her mind, the popping sound and the unpleasant smell followed.
She patiently waited until Little Wen Yi’s chubby face returned to normal. As he opened his little mouth readying to wail, she quickly reached out to pick him up.
"Stinky darling, don’t howl, mommy’s gonna change you right away."
Once Little Wen Yi fell into his mother’s arms from the crib, he smelled the familiar scent and didn’t cry. Instead, like a little piglet, he nuzzled against her.
"We’ll eat after changing!"
She stripped off the little guy’s diaper, then called Wen Shi over to pour water and wash his bottom.
It was an absolute mess.
Though she’s his biological mom, Yi Chichi was very squeamish about the little guy’s dirty diaper and bottom, but Wen Shi didn’t mind. After cleaning the little guy and putting new diapers on him, he leaned in and nuzzled the little guy’s face.
Then, with a proud look, he praised, "My son smells nice!"
Yi Chichi, "..."
Indeed, like a dung beetle, he really thinks his own child smells wonderful.
Sometimes, a father’s filter is even scarier than a mother’s filter.
But that’s a good thing.
Men haven’t experienced the hardships of carrying a child for ten months, and can’t be affected by maternal hormones like mothers, to overflow with love for their kids.
The bond between father and child needs to be accumulated and cultivated through time spent together after the child’s birth.
But still, the saying goes, it’s better for a dad to think the kid’s great everywhere rather than to be indifferent to the child.
Therefore, Yi Chichi smiled and asked him, "Are you still making dinner?"
"Sure."
Wen Shi tidied up the diapers, carried them outside, then returned and said, "Honey, you stay with the baby for a bit, I’ll be back after cooking to be with you both. I’ll wash the diapers along with the clothes after bathing tonight."
"Sounds good."
So Wen Shi returned to the kitchen.
Yi Chichi took Wen Yi to the courtyard for a walk, and the Lei Family’s child had returned from school and was digging something in the courtyard.
Hearing Little Wen Yi’s cooing sounds, the child stopped digging, dropped the small shovel and darted over like a rabbit.
"Auntie, put little brother down to play!"
Yi Chichi felt a bit awkward, "Little brother can’t walk yet, we’ll let him down once he can walk."
"When will he be able to walk?"
Lei Zhou, the second child of the Lei Family, is the elder by four years, just started first grade in elementary school.
It’s a mischievous age.
"By the end of the year."
He replied, looking at Little Wen Yi with curiosity, "Auntie, can you hold little brother down a bit?"
Yi Chichi cooperated by bending down, he grabbed Little Wen Yi’s hand and giggled, "His hand is so small, so soft."
Madam Lei came out and happened to see this scene, quickly reminding, "Be gentle, don’t hurt little brother, or he’ll cry."
Lei Zhou was shocked, "He can cry?"
Yi Chichi found this amusing, "You cry, so it’s normal for your brother to cry."
Lei Zhou, "...Seems true."
Then he suddenly changed the topic, "Auntie, when you hit little brother, hit gently, don’t hit like my dad does, it really hurts!"
As he said this, he cooperated with a subtle shiver, clearly someone familiar with bamboo chop fried meat.
Yi Chichi glanced at Madam Lei, who was rolling her eyes.
"You should consider why you’re being hit."
Not letting Lei Zhou argue back, she urged, "Quickly come eat, after eating you can play with brother, there’s plenty of time."
Lei Zhou reluctantly let go of Wen Yi’s hand and told Yi Chichi, "Auntie, can I play with brother after dinner?"
"Yes!"
Although Yi Chichi was confused about what Lei Zhou found fun in hanging out with non-talking Wen Yi, since the little guy wanted to come play with his brother, she naturally welcomed it.
So after dinner and bathing, Lei Zhou came over to play with Wen Yi.
Also visiting were He An and He Yunsong, father and daughter.
He Yunsong had just returned today, and it’s his first time seeing Wen Yi.
Seeing Wen Yi, he was shocked at first glance, "Why is he so chubby?"
Wen Shi was scrubbing diapers, angered by what he heard, "You’re the chubby one. Wen Yi’s not chubby, it’s baby fat, don’t you understand baby fat?"
"Yes, mom said brother will naturally slim down as he grows taller."
He An agreed with Wen Shi’s words, then educated his father, "Dad, your mouth really offends people easily, can you just be quiet and say less?"
"My dad also doesn’t listen."
Lei Zhou, who was teasing Wen Yi with his hands, chimed in crisply, "My mom dislikes my dad, and his feet smell."
"My dad’s feet smell too."
He An found another common topic and immediately grabbed Wen Yi’s other hand to join in.
Then, Yi Chichi and the other adults watched as these two kids started debating whose dad’s feet smelled worse.
Watching with great interest.
Until—
"Auntie, whose feet smell more?"
The two little ones both looked around at Yi Chichi as if she was completely uninvolved, their eyes blazing eagerly.
Much expected of her, Yi Chichi fell silent for a moment, thinking to herself she’d only come to watch, why should she answer such an absurd question.
The key is they asked the wrong person.
"I don’t know."
She shook her head, said seriously, "You should ask yourselves this question, or ask your moms, not me, but—"
"What is it?"
The two little ones quickly followed up.
She said with a smile that she couldn’t help, "Foot odor is about the same."
Then she admonished them, "You must be cautious, don’t soak your feet in a basin with dad, don’t use the same towel to dry feet, and especially don’t wear their shoes to play, or your feet might get fungal infections, resulting in foot odor, possibly itching terribly."
