Chapter 569: Chapter 351: Spoils and Warning, a Demon Saint Over Four Thousand Years Old
Five Emperors Fist!
The moment he recognized the Five Emperors Fist, the Dragon-Horned Deer Demon King felt a chill run from the crown of his head down to his toes. Back when Xuanyuan Peak rampaged through the Eastern Domain, even Demon Saints didn’t know how many they slaughtered. Now, a handful of Demon Kings actually dared to come assassinate the disciples of Xuanyuan Peak.
If they’d known this guy was a disciple from Xuanyuan Peak, even ten times the guts wouldn’t be enough for them to dare come here to kill.
Boom!
Wei Fan channeled his own power to stir up the majestic figure behind him, and he slammed his fist straight into the oncoming force. The void rippled with layer upon layer of wrinkles; a terrifying surge of energy shot out like an arrow.
"Crack..."
The power from the Nine Palaces Locking Heaven Array shattered instantly as if battered by a tsunami. It exploded and scattered, surging in all directions.
Rumble rumble rumble...
Amidst the thunderous noise, the whole Nine Palaces Locking Heaven Array shook violently, the light-screen covering the world rippling with countless cracks, the earth splitting, mountains collapsing.
Those cracks seemed contagious, wildly spreading across the nine massive banners anchoring the array.
The next moment, the screen of light and the big banners all split apart at once, collapsing with a roar and exposing the world outside.
"He broke the Nine Palaces Locking Heaven Array with just one punch..."
Lu Jun was trembling, cold sweats pouring down his back. The more you attack, the stronger Nine Palaces Locking Heaven Array gets—yet this guy blew it apart with a single punch. If word got out, barely anyone would believe it.
In the Demon Race, the Nine Palaces Locking Heaven Array is one of the most mysterious arrays—it’s trapped and killed countless genius Humans and Demons. Of course, some have broken out before, but breaking through with overwhelming force like this? That’s a first.
The impact from that instant was absolutely terrifying; the array didn’t even have time to switch or absorb energy before being blown apart.
"Is he some kind of Barbaric Dragon..." Feng Hua was absolutely stunned.
She knew just how deadly the Nine Palaces Locking Heaven Array could be; that’s why she’d warned Wei Fan just now not to fight head-on. Who would’ve thought, one moment later, he’d smash the array to pieces with one punch, blasting the banners to ashes.
The eruption of power in that instant even made her heart tremble. Even if she fought at full strength, she probably couldn’t have stopped it.
"This array isn’t all that impressive!"
The phantom behind Wei Fan faded, his aura dipped, and his whole body flushed with heat.
To this day, even after his power had grown so much, using the Five Emperors Fist was still a huge burden—he felt an exhaustion that cut from the inside out.
That’s why he never delved deeper into training the Five Emperors Fist—just activating it at entry-level already strained his Heart Spirit and body. If he ever cultivated it to Perfection, that kind of power harvesting would probably destroy his Heart Spirit.
He used to think as he got stronger, the strain of using the Five Emperors Fist would lessen. But it’s not true.
On the flipside, he realized that while that burden doesn’t decrease, the force unleashed by the Five Emperors Fist rises as his own power escalates. That’s part of why the strain remains unchanged.
The results of his training in Nine-Nine True Skill, Scripture of the Three Emperors, and Divine Silkworm Nine Transformations—all of these unparalleled martial arts—are unleashed together with the Five Emperors Fist. No way the burden would be light.
"Time to send you guys to meet your friends!"
Wei Fan flew forward and slapped the Dragon Horned Deer’s head to bits.
The Dragon-Horned Deer still had fight left in him—Wei Fan breaking the array with one punch hadn’t actually injured him much. But he never tried running, never tried fighting back—he just let Wei Fan smash his skull with a palm strike.
Against someone who could annihilate the Nine Palaces Locking Heaven Array with a punch, escape or resistance were pointless; even if he did get away, he’d only bring trouble back to his tribe.
[Slayed Dragon-Horned Deer Demon King: +100,000 years Ordinary Power, +900 years Martial King’s Power]
[Slayed Five-Colored Demon Bull Demon King: +100,000 years Ordinary Power, +900 years Martial King’s Power]
[Slayed Winged Serpent Demon King: +100,000 years Ordinary Power, +900 years Martial King’s Power]
...
[Ordinary Power: 1,080,000 years]
[Martial King’s Power: 4,600 years]
Wei Fan glanced at his panel—killing demons is still the most satisfying. Slay one, and you harvest power every time. As for Humans, unless the panel itself deemed them evil, killing them didn’t even guarantee power. Recently he’d killed a bunch of Martial Kings, but hardly ever harvested power.
"This Nine-Nine True Skill is earth-shaking! Best not to tell anyone about it!"
Feng Hua and Zhi Hua walked toward him; their eyes still brimming with lingering shock.
Wei Fan nodded. "Thunder Mountain Celestial Skill" right now is a nagging worry for a ton of top-level fighters across the Five Great Domains; even as mighty as Xuanyuan Peak, its master once spent six months meditating by Thunder Mountain alone. If news spread, it’d surely cause trouble.
He started cleaning up the battlefield, collecting the corpses and scattered Demon King Divine Soldiers.
"The corpses of these three Demon Kings are yours to deal with. Yuan Jie, who’s the Saint Son of Qilin Ape Race, has a bounty in the Demon Hunter Organization. You didn’t take the mission first, but since you killed him, you can still claim the reward—the corpse serves as proof."
Feng Hua reminded Wei Fan. Normally people eat or sell Demon King corpses for Spirit Crystals, but Yuan Jie wasn’t any ordinary Demon King. Not only did he have a bounty in the Demon Hunter Organization, it was a pretty generous one.
Wei Fan’s eyes lit up. Looking at Feng Hua, he asked, "How much?"
In the Demon Hunter Organization’s merit system, slaying a Demon King First Layer gets you a thousand Merit Points. Demon King Second Layer: two thousand, and so forth.
Yuan Jie, a Demon King Eighth Layer, would usually fetch eight thousand Merit Points. Even though Yuan Jie’s a Saint Son, if there’s no bounty, it’s still only eight thousand.
But with someone like a Saint Son, the Demon Hunter Organization always puts up a bounty. These guys, with Holy Blood running through them, have a high chance of reaching Demon Saint level. Even setbacks rarely kill them outright.
Any demon with huge potential, even if they haven’t done much wrong, gets a bounty posted by the Demon Hunter Organization.
Feng Hua said, "If I remember right, the bounty is around fifty thousand Merit Points, and fifty thousand Spirit Crystals."
Zhi Hua shook her head. "That was ages ago. Now the Demon Hunter Organization’s bounty for Yuan Jie has doubled to a hundred thousand Merit Points. As for Spirit Crystals, with some private bounties tacked on, it’s probably north of a hundred thousand."
Wei Fan grinned—taking down Yuan Jie equals offing like a dozen Demon King Ninth Layer heavyweights, not even counting the Spirit Crystals, but mostly the Merit Points.
In the Demon Hunter Organization, if you want to exchange for cultivation techniques, Spirit Crystals won’t cut it—only Merit Points matter.
This kind of bounty is off the charts.
Just think: Little Bull King Niu Jiang and his crew tore through Linyao City and slaughtered a bunch of Human prodigies, but their bounty was only thirty thousand Merit Points.
A hundred thousand Merit Points—that can be swapped for a complete Saint-level Martial Art. Even the very top ones aren’t far off.
He carefully tucked away Yuan Jie’s body—this thing’s worth a full Saint-level Martial Art.
"Killing a Saint Son is no small thing—this needs to be reported. While we Demon Hunters don’t really have to worry about consequences, let’s clean up after ourselves and keep others out of the line of fire."
With a flick of her wrist, Feng Hua produced a Samsung Demon Hunter Waist Token.
Yuan Jie’s not the same as Little Bull King—the child of a Demon Saint, whose death doesn’t matter much to those Saints. But a Saint Son is basically the future Demon Saint for a tribe; they’ll protect the tribe for five thousand years, valued second only to the existing Demon Saint.
If a Saint Son dies, his tribe will definitely go mad for revenge—and this time, it’s not just the Qilin Ape Race. Five-Colored Demon Bull, Dragon-Horned Deer, and Winged Serpent tribes are all wrapped up in this mess too.
Four tribes out for vengeance? Beiding Continent’s Human Race is in for chaos.
We can’t withstand a four-tribe reprisal—but at least we can send a report to the Demon Hunter Organization fast, so they can alert the front lines and dispatch Demon Hunters for backup.
She glanced at Zhi Hua, saying, "You reach out to your imperial brother, let him know what’s going down. Da Xu Kingdom better be ready—those damn beasts died here on our turf, so if demon retaliation comes, Da Xu will get hit first."
Zhi Hua nodded and took out her token; both started connecting via their tokens, while Wei Fan followed the Beast Ring’s guidance to find the three white horses.
Good thing he hadn’t restrained those horses earlier—otherwise they’d be dead from the battle.
Once he rounded up the three horses, Feng Hua and Zhi Hua had already finished their calls. The trio remounted and started heading for their planned destination.
They were headed for Da Xu’s front-line anti-demon fortress anyway, and with all this happening, they had even more reason to go.
"How did the calls go?" Wei Fan asked.
Zhi Hua replied, "My imperial brother will invite some Martial Kings who have ties with my Yang Family to join. But they’re not top-tier Martial Kings. I’d like you to help guard this place for a while."
Wei Fan nodded. "The trouble’s all mine, no way am I throwing it on someone else!"
He was already looking for demons to hunt—having them show up is even better.
Feng Hua said, "On the Demon Hunter Organization side, alerts are being issued in every region, and bounty tasks will go out to attract some experts to Da Xu. But most of the strongest have gone west to the Wilderness, so I doubt many elites will show."
She glanced at Zhi Hua. "Don’t worry. Even if there’s reprisal, those brutes need to prepare, so we should be safe for now. The only real threat is the Qilin Ape Saint—that old ape—from the Wilderness coming back."
If he finds out Yuan Jie was killed, there’s a good chance he’ll lose his mind and kick off a Saint-level war.
At Demon King and army skirmish levels, demons can’t really take advantage over Humans; the real terror is if battle breaks out at the Saint level.
Once it’s Saint versus Saint, it’s like the end of the world—massive loss of life everywhere.
"Tell me about this Qilin Ape Saint," said Wei Fan.
If the Qilin Ape Saint loses his shit, Wei Fan’s the first on his hit list. Sure, Humans have a Martial Saint too, but it’s not like he gets a bodyguard. Unless he holes up inside Celestial Star City and never comes out.
"Qilin Ape Saint—among Beiding Continent’s Demon Saints, he’s definitely top three. His cultivation is totally unfathomable.
This old ape’s lived over four thousand years—right at the end of a Demon Saint’s lifespan. Yuan Jie was the Demon King most likely to become the next Demon Saint for the Qilin Ape Race. With Yuan Jie gone, there’s no time left to train a new one—the Qilin Ape Race is doomed to decline. When a Demon Saint has nothing left to lose, there’s no telling what he’ll do."
In any tribe, ordinary members can die by the dozens, no big deal. But losing the one with a shot at Saint level? That’s disaster. Without a Demon Saint, the Qilin Ape Race will become minions for other tribes, maybe even get wiped out.
Just like the Human Race, demons don’t get along among themselves either.
Everyone holds each other in check—if there’s nothing holding them back, Demon Saints go rogue, and there’s no way to restrain them.
Zhi Hua said, "That old ape ran off to the Wilderness, maybe hoping to break through again. It’s not guaranteed that Yuan Jie’s death means he has nothing left to lose."
A Demon Saint with four thousand years under his belt might be close to stepping into the next realm—why else would he risk his cultivation dropping to Martial King First Layer by running off to the Wilderness?
Feng Hua shook her head. "That makes it worse. If he really breaks through, even more people will die. I’d rather he goes crazy from despair, instead of holding his rage in because he’s about to make a new breakthrough."
Between a Demon Saint and someone beyond Demon Saint, it’s obvious who poses a bigger threat to the Human Race.
