Chapter 566: Chapter 348: Qilin Ape, Nine Palaces Locking Heaven Array
"Looking across the Five Great Domains, he now has the power to be invincible among his peers..."
In front of the thatched hut, Feng Hua’s heart was in complete turmoil.
She clearly remembered the first time they met—back then, she was the lofty Martial King Powerhouse, and Wei Fan was still in the Martial Venerable Realm.
After she struck down the Martial Venerables of Feiyun Stronghold and Prisoner Dragon Stronghold with a few blows and floated away, she left Wei Fan with nothing but a stunning figure disappearing into the distance.
At that moment, she had never imagined that just a few months later, Wei Fan’s strength would grow to a level that could threaten her.
Wei Fan hadn’t broken through to the next realm, but his strength had undergone a complete transformation.
"Sorry, couldn’t quite control my Power!"
Wei Fan strolled over, his hair drifting in the wind. His smoothly sculpted muscles made him look even more handsome.
He glanced at Zhi Hua and smiled. "Congratulations on your breakthrough, becoming an Eighth Level Martial King Powerhouse."
Because she’d just broken through, Zhi Hua couldn’t perfectly control her own Power yet. The aura of breakthrough still lingered around her.
"Compared to your progress, my breakthrough is nothing at all." Zhi Hua shook her head with a wry smile.
She’d advanced to the Eighth Level of Martial King, yet the distance between her and Wei Fan had not shortened—instead, it had grown wider.
Wei Fan shook his head, refusing to dwell further on the topic. "Since you’ve broken through smoothly, this secluded training session ends here!"
He was set to leave—he needed to go cut down a group of Demon Fiends for power harvesting, or else who knew when the Human Emperor Bell would transform again. Lately, Dao Collapse was accelerating; he had to break into the Martial Saint Realm fast, or he wouldn’t be able to return to the Wilderness and suppress everything when Dao Collapse ended.
"Hmm?"
Suddenly, Wei Fan sensed something was off. He jerked his head up, his gaze piercing the Array to see a towering, muscular figure strolling through the canyon outside.
At that same moment, Feng Hua seemed to sense trouble as well, turning to look in the direction Wei Fan was staring.
The very next instant, the earth began to shake and the Array Wei Fan had set down split apart in an instant, destroyed by some force.
On the lakeshore, the three figures and the thatched hut suddenly became exposed.
Thud thud...
Chunks of earth flew as every single Array Banner buried in the ground was blasted up to the surface, rendered useless.
"Nine Palaces Locking Heaven Array, activate!"
A voice rang out from the distant mountains. Nine colossal Array Banners appeared at critical points in the range, channeling mountain momentum and Heaven and Earth Essence Qi.
A massive curtain of light quickly swept out. In the blink of an eye, the nine Big Banners linked together, severing the canyon from the outside world.
Wei Fan remained still. Feng Hua did too. These people had already used their Array as a base to set up a Grand Array—the chance to stop them was long gone, and honestly, neither of them were interested in stopping it anyway.
"It’s a Qilin Ape!" Zhi Hua’s eyes were fixed on the massive figure.
This wasn’t a human, but a Demon Fiend.
It looked like a giant ape, but was covered in scale armor that gleamed coldly; atop its head grew two long, curved horns emitting a radiant glow.
It carried a human thigh in its hand, gnawing on it as it walked.
As it drew near, a powerful Demon King aura swept over them, kicking up clouds of dust.
Wei Fan had slain tens, if not hundreds, of thousands of Demon Fiends—but this kind, a so-called Qilin Ape, he’d never once encountered. The Wilderness simply didn’t have such a Demon Fiend.
The info panel in front of his eyes began to flash:
[Yuan Jie: Demon King Eighth Layer, Beiding Continent Qilin Ape Race Saint Son, devourer of countless humans]
[Kill him to gain 100,000 years of Ordinary Power, 800 years of Martial King’s Power]
Wei Fan’s eyes narrowed slightly. Ever since he’d entered the Five Great Domains, the thing he’d heard most was about all the damn Holy Sects’ Saint Sons—how talented, how monstrous, always comparing people to Saint Child Level elites. Today, he was finally meeting one in person.
"The Five-Colored Demon Bull Race and Dragon-Horned Deer Race paid a fortune to have me come kill you. To be honest, I’m a bit disappointed in your wariness. You didn’t even know you’ve been trapped by a Grand Array!"
Yuan Jie stopped in the distance, his gaze locking onto Feng Hua.
He was tall and powerfully built, more than two meters high. His head was even bigger than a basketball, and when he opened his mouth, a stench almost tangible assaulted their noses, revealing a crimson tongue and two sharp fangs.
He didn’t rush to strike. Instead, he displayed what he imagined was an elegant manner, explaining why he was here—and expressing his disappointment in Feng Hua.
The Five-Colored Demon Bull Race and the Dragon-Horned Deer Race had brought him out to kill Feng Hua because those two races claimed Feng Hua was a Saint Child Level prodigy. And yet—she didn’t even notice she’d been trapped. Naturally, he was disappointed in her.
As for Wei Fan—he hadn’t even glanced at him. Their intelligence on Wei Fan was still stuck back at Linyao City; only Feng Hua could catch his interest.
"But your flesh shouldn’t disappoint me!"
As he spoke, Yuan Jie tore a bloody chunk from the thigh in his hand as if biting into a chicken drumstick, gnawed it messily, and then set his eyes on Wei Fan. "And you—if you could kill that trash Niu Jiang, your meat must be quite the tonic too!"
"You’re Yuan Jie of the Qilin Ape Race?" Feng Hua’s expression didn’t change. She’d seen scenes like this far too many times to count.
Yuan Jie nodded.
Feng Hua let out a cold laugh. "You beast, you’ve sure got guts to come this deep into human territory!"
"Yuan Jie is a Saint Son of the Qilin Ape Race..." Zhi Hua’s voice echoed in Wei Fan’s Heart Spirit. She took it for granted that Wei Fan didn’t know who this was, so she started explaining.
Saint Son usually referred to a sect’s most outstanding disciples, but in special contexts, it had another meaning: the offspring of a Demon Saint or Martial Saint.
The Little Bull King Wei Fan killed, and that golden little Lion King he’d slain in the Wilderness—both were Demon Saint offspring, but not qualified for the title "Saint Son," because both were born before their fathers became Saints.
Both human and demon cultivation is essentially escalating the grade of life itself. But once you reach the Divine Realm or higher—if your mate isn’t the same life grade, bearing offspring is nearly impossible.
Apart from the very best disciples of a Holy Sect, anyone or any fiend known as a Saint Son means they were born after their parent became a Saint. They do not have ordinary bloodlines—the blood in their veins is Holy Blood, and their talents are downright monstrous.
Called a beast, Yuan Jie didn’t care. He laughed. "All the Martial Saints of Beiding Continent are off messing around in the Wilderness—all gone. Without a Martial Saint, who can do a damn thing to me? I’ve had a feast along the way, but their flesh was tough as hell. You, though—a demon like you—that’s real gourmet fare."
Feng Hua’s eyes flashed coldly.
In the distance, three figures stepped through the air and landed behind Yuan Jie, bowing. "Saint Son, the Nine Palaces Locking Heaven Array is ready. We can act at your command!"
These were three more Demon Fiends: a Dragon-Horned Deer, a Five-Colored Demon Bull, and a Winged Serpent.
These three races had joined forces, inviting Yuan Jie to kill Feng Hua and Wei Fan, to avenge their slain Little Demon Kings.
In fact, it wasn’t just Beiding Continent’s Human Race Martial Saints who’d gone to the Wilderness—the Demon Fiend side’s Demon Saints had gone too, taking with them some Demon Kings of mighty bloodline. Otherwise, even the three races combined wouldn’t have needed to call in an outsider Demon King to kill Feng Hua.
Yuan Jie’s brow lifted. He spun, slapping the Demon King who’d said it was time to act straight across the face. "You teaching me how to do my job? You see me talking? Get the hell out of my way!"
"Don’t dare!"
This Demon King had Ninth Level Cultivation, yet he dared not circulate a speck of Power to resist. The slap landed solidly, swelling his cheek, blood on the corner of his mouth.
As they spoke, he and the other two Demon Kings quietly backed away.
Yuan Jie turned his gaze back to Feng Hua, the previous displeasure vanishing from his face. "What Sect are you from? Strangely, I couldn’t find a single bit of intel on you."
Right after, he looked at Wei Fan: "And you, as if you came from thin air."
No way would two super freaks just appear from some godforsaken corner. In his view, Wei Fan and Feng Hua had to have an impressive background. The Demon Race’s intel just hadn’t dug it up yet.
"I don’t need to report my background to a dead ape!" Feng Hua snorted coldly.
"Oh no? You think you can hide your identity from me?"
Yuan Jie’s expression grew chilly. He tossed aside the bone in his hand, then slashed a finger through the air.
Demonic Power surged as a black crescent sliced toward Feng Hua.
Bang, bang...
Wherever the blade passed, space rippled; the ground was torn into a massive gully by the shockwaves.
Yuan Jie’s gaze was fixed on Feng Hua, confident he could force her identity out of her in three moves or less.
"Hmm?"
Suddenly, Yuan Jie’s pupils shrank sharply—he saw Wei Fan, who he’d written off, reach out and simply crush the Sword Aura with his bare hand.
The backlash from the force sent dust billowing everywhere, but Wei Fan didn’t even budge. "If that’s all you’ve got, you’re not leaving here alive today."
He turned to Feng Hua. "You two stand back. Let me try out my freshly mastered Nine-Nine True Skill!"
Yuan Jie suddenly grinned. "Hah...interesting. So you’re a Body Refining Martial Artist. Your blood and flesh is the very best tonic. These idiots told me you were only at the Fourth Realm of Martial King—they don’t even know what realm their opponent’s at. No wonder Niu Jiang died."
Even though he’d just made a casual slash, with his power, he could have chopped down most Eighth Level Martial Kings. For Wei Fan to crush that Sword Aura barehanded—other than a Body Refining Martial Artist, there weren’t many with a body that terrifying.
Wei Fan shook his head. "Too bad I’m not interested in eating mutts like you. I mean, would you eat something crossbred from a pig and a dog?"
"You’re courting death!"
Wasn’t that just calling him a mongrel?
Yuan Jie went livid. The Qilin Ape bloodline had always been his greatest pride—stronger even than the Five-Colored Demon Bull, some said. But in Wei Fan’s mouth, he was just some crossbred freak.
Boom!
His aura exploded. Demonic Power swept out like a landslide and tsunami, in a blink steaming dry the nearby lake, even causing the river to flow backward.
Even the mighty Nine Palaces Locking Heaven Array they’d just laid down shuddered beneath his terrifying presence.
"Terrifying—he could kill me with a single move!" Zhi Hua’s face was filled with dread.
She wasn’t untalented, but compared to a Saint Son with Demon Saint blood running through his veins, she was in a whole different league—a few leagues, in fact.
Feng Hua nodded. "He is impressive—even most Saint Sons can’t match him. He’s got what it takes to one day reach the Demon Saint Realm. Too bad for him—his luck’s bad; he’s run into this kind of monster."
She glanced at Wei Fan, silently calculating if Wei Fan would need ten or twenty moves to kill Yuan Jie.
