The swallow woman was perfect by Sam’s standards, not that they were too high, but she still had to be the most beautiful woman he ever laid eyes upon. Her dark hair, prominent curves, full lips and soft facial features that made her look as though she came from royalty.

Every movement she made was graceful and filled with an air of elegance, even something as simple as combing her hair behind her ear was a delight to see and more importantly, she had no issues being naked.

Still, Sam’s face was crumpled ugly, tear and snot was running loose and he could barely remain standing in front of the imposing presence of the giant bird-man hybrid in front of him.

"I’m done for, but this is what I deserve." Sam said in an attempt to boost his courage. He breathed a heavy sigh and made peace with the fact that he was about to die, directing a glare at the swallow chief in a more composed manner, something he seemed to appreciate.

The huge cryptid climbed down the few steps that elevated the throne and placed his hand on top of Sam’s head and on the swallow woman’s head by Sam’s side as well. What happened next left everyone in utter disbelief.

Once swallow Chief retreated to his throne, the swallow woman took off one of her orichalcum earrings and plucked one of her feathers off. She then tied it to the earring and pierced Sam’s ear with it and he couldn’t help but let out a pained yelp that made the swallow woman chuckle.

Then a beautiful choir of angelical voices began, seemingly resonating with the marble columns and the swallow woman proceeded to give Sam a very passionate kiss that left him in a daze.

"What’s going on!?" Nika scratched her hair trying to rattle her neurons that couldn’t grasp the situation, while Luna’s blank face had a stream of tears running down. "Luna, are you ok?"

"Uhm, yes. Weddings make me cry, I don’t know why."

"A beautiful ceremony, somewhat primitive but that makes it even better." Uriel too was crying.

"But, you said she was swallow Chief’s wife!"

"My bad, maybe it’s his daughter." Uriel said as he offered Luna a handkerchief and took one for himself.

By the time Sam’s lips parted from his now wife’s it was clear he was completely in love with her and he didn’t pay any heed to his surroundings. He could barely hear the angelical choir that became louder by the second and all he could see was her beautiful face smiling at him.

He was in utter bliss during the whole duration of the marriage ceremony, but that lasted only until the swallow woman led him towards the back of the throne.

The off vibration caused by the singing shook it, until a door was opened leading to a staircase revealing the exit of that world.

"Hurry up, we need to leave this place before it closes!" Uriel shouted and everyone began moving towards it, some more reluctant than others.

"Come with me. We can live in the human world together as husband and wife. I will forever love you, I will always care for you and protect you." Sam took the swallow woman’s hand, but she shook her head as a tear trickled down her cheek.

Uriel’s party remained last to give the heartbroken hunter some time to say goodbye to his wife, though as soon as the song started fading and the door threatened to close Nika forcefully pulled him away. "Let me go, she’s my wife! I want to stay!"

"Don’t be stupid, she’s a cryptid!" Nika facepalmed.

"I don’t care, we haven’t even consummated our marriage yet!" He cried as the door finished closing. "Noooo!"

Sam struggled to release himself from Nika’s grasp and run upstairs, forcing his friends to drag him all the way downstairs until they reached a locked door the soldiers couldn’t figure out how to open.

Uriel walked towards the gate to inspect it and found ancient glyphs carved on it that read the following: ’For twenty three days we coexisted with the peaceful air spirits than dwell on this world, we got to learn some of their customs and they kept us safe from the claws of those who do not die without asking for anything in return.

But their kindness was repaid with an unspeakable crime that, even though was prevented, it still soiled the honor of their tribe and we are now banished from their world until we appease their anger. This door is a reminder of the promise made and no human will ever be able to cross until it’s fulfilled and it will only open for the air spirit people.’

Those words, although written in the ancient language, didn’t sound as cryptic as the ones Uriel found in Chichén Itzá. It made Uriel wonder whether it was the ancient people who made the dungeon who wrote it or if it was David Crockett’s crew. Whichever was the case, the meaning behind that message remained the same.

Someone must have tried to abuse one of the air spirit women and they arranged a marriage that never came to be, presumably, because the human was unable to return.

"This is interesting, it seems she was neither the swallow Chief’s daughter nor a priestess. The swallow woman must have been promised in marriage to a man that probably died before being able to come back and Sam fulfilled the promise without even knowing it." Uriel grabbed the distraught newly wed Sam towards the door and it opened leaving the already confounded Nika in a daze.

"What the hell is going on?" She asked as the soldiers crossed the gate.

"It seems we passed the ’trial’ of this world and acquired the key to this door. It’s all thanks to Sam now being one of the spirit people’s tribesmen."

"I’m glad my suffering is helpful." Said the still sulking Sam.

"It could be a lot worse, at least you only got your heart broken," He said, omitting to mention his own ’trial’ where he stabbed himself in the heart with a dagger. "besides, I think you might be able to come back one day."

"Yes!" Sam’s mood shifted as a gleeful smile appeared on his face and he punch the air in a victory sign.
