Chapter 983: Chapter 983: Intense and brutal clash

"Yuna the show’s about to begin so let’s move to a more discrete area." It wouldn’t do to come across a bunch of adventurers when the Dungeon menu was out and on display.

Maybe they could pass it off as some sort of magic device but that invited its own kind of problems, mainly greed.

"A super high ranking battle how interesting but why don’t we just go to the private space?" The private space had private in the name, an area restricted to Frost and only those he granted permission. There was also snacks and a high quality sofa in the main room that would be ideal for a viewing party.

"Can’t, Maya’s there and I pissed her off earlier." That cold cutting tone in her voice sent shivers down his spine whenever he thought back, a woman’s ire should never be underestimated especially when it’s from someone like Maya. Just like himself she was quite a petty person, an individual who’s most preferred method of revenge involved violence.

"What did you do this time?" It was hardly uncommon for Frost to piss off his lover, the line he should be toeing always presented itself as an enticing dare often leading him into trouble.

"Teased General Anya a little too much and it backfired, unfortunately she just happened to be watching at the time." Her displeasure this time was fully justified thus the need to skulk around until the rage blew over or until he could redirect it with the aid of Daki. His brutal attack on her plump ass allowed him to retain a small modicum of good grace.

"...Master you do realise if you die it means the end of us all right?" Yuna was flabbergasted, General Anya held little regard for her master and was a woman with early stage A-rank strength at the very least, yet Frost dared to repeatedly tease her to the point that he admitted that he went too far.

"Hindsight is 20/20 Yuna but you’re right it was not one of my finer moments, a flirtatious assault could have easily ended up being a.... violent exchange instead." The cougar General could have easily tossed aside all trepidation and killed him for his brash behaviour, something he was starting to better understand given the expression on Yuna’s face.

Since the private space was currently off limits and he wanted to continue their little walk once the operation was over Frost and Yuna disappeared into a nearby recess which led them into one of the Dungeon’s secret highways, passages that allowed the discreet and fast transportation of monsters between different areas. They then made their way to an area that was yet to be discovered and presently guarded by several monsters beyond the floor’s average strength.

"Guard the entrance, no one is to enter." Frost gave strict orders to the two scaled hide Lagombis and two enriched fur polar bears who were residing here and guarding a rather prominent and substantial treasure chest. Any adventuring group who managed to fight there way into this room would find themselves drowning in riches, a few of Daki’s 3 star equipment, potions and even a magic scroll for the 3rd circle spell [freezing fireball] were contained within. Frost heavily rewarded those braving the unknown and willing to take risks.

"Findley watch the operation alongside Neve and invite Khuno down as well, this material should be very beneficial to the three of you." Findley, Khuno and Yuna were his sole non-bestial B-rank monsters while Neve despite being a new addition to the team was very loyal and boasted a strength just below the three of them. If everything went as he planned then she would likely be the next addition to the B-rank roster.

""Yes Master."" Frost received an affirmative reply not a moment later. A battle between multiple A-ranks, dozens of B-ranks and over a hundred C and D-ranks was sure to be an educational experience for all of them.

Yuna and Frost got comfortable in the secret area, finding a large boulder to support them as the Dungeon’s monitoring system was brought up showing all seven A-ranks and close to 40 B-ranks all at least in the mid stages moving with purpose, their expressions radiating killing intent and a lust of death.

The confrontation would take place within the next few minutes. Frost, Yuna, Findley, Neve and also Khuno were on the edges of their seats, their eyes pried open as far as they could go so as to gleam every passing moment.

Feeling as though he had forgotten something Frost briefly frowned before having a moment of realisation. He quickly called Daki who was present in her personal forge, slaving away with intense focus, her fundamentals and even her phycological state improving with every strike of the hammer.

"What is it hun?" Daki’s beautiful face slightly twisted in irritation, finding Frost’s timing less than stellar.

"There’s a massive battle about to take place between multiple A-rank individuals and dozens of B-ranks. Do you have any interest in watching?" Daki was also gearing towards the B-rank but unlike Neve and his other monsters her path was one that was primarily focused on tradecraft mastery rather than combat.

"What! Are we in danger?" Daki’s initial reaction was not interest but panic, fearing for her lover and the safety of their love nest.

"No, no we’re perfectly fine. General Anya, Baron Glorfile and the four from Sedrick’s side are leading an offensive against a group of interlopers lingering within our borders, we’re not involved at all." Frost quickly allayed her fears and redirected her towards the task at hand.

"Oh.....in that case no. My own path is at a critical stage and witnessing combat at that level would only offer me marginal gains at best and at worst even impede my advancement." Sometimes witnessing something that was far beyond your ability to comprehend would lead to confusion rather than learning.

Daki was decisive in her refusal, wishing Frost fun before swiftly cutting the connection and returning to her work.

"Her dedication to her craft rivals my own, god damn you gotta love her." Frost was a little surprised, struggling to understand her lack of interest given his own disposition but he respected her choice, even finding it admirable.

"Master it’s about to begin." Yuna quickly called him, tugging at his sleeves so he wouldn’t miss a second.

Outside Niflheim roughly a kilometre or so southwest from the southern wall a large group of highly trained soldiers and killers were tabulating their gear as if preparing for an assault.

"Lord Rathborne everyone is assembled, we can make our moves at any time." A strong beastman from the bear tribe spoke to an even larger beastman from the tiger tribe. This man’s gaze was fiercely locked upon the well-guarded city in the distance, his eyes sporting heterochromia, his left eye was blue while his right was brown, his trademark identifier.

"Good, although our reaction time was slower than the enemy we should have enough forces here to deal significant damage." Lord Rathborne was one of Prince Randolph’s hidden blades and was the commander of these men and women.

Several days ago they received word of Prince Sedrick’s forces making moves towards Niflheim, intelligence determined that the 2nd Prince was campaigning alongside the neutral nobles, a clear defiance of his master’s orders thus they moved to intercept the travelling groups and or decimate those who managed to congregate already.

Prince Randloph and his most trusted supporters were wary of no one else bar the 2nd Prince as he held the fealty of the old noble families whose influence stretched far and wide. Any chance to deal a blow to their momentum was a chance they couldn’t disregard thus Rathborne had marshalled his men through Northrend, taking barely a break before arriving south of Niflheim.

Unfortunately however the intelligence they had managed to gather was critically wrong. Rathborne believed that their speed was enough to intercept and handle those already in Niflheim but contrary to the fact the neutral nobles and Prince Sedrick had already completed their congregation. What lay hidden within Niflheim’s walls was a force that dwarfed their own....alas Rathborne wouldn’t even get the chance to make that mistake as a terrifying chill ran down his spine, his heart beating a mile a minute as a sense of intense danger soon filled every inch of his body.

"Fuck! Battle stations!" He hadn’t seen anything yet, but he never ignored his instincts, few A-ranks ever did.

The nearby soldiers were momentarily surprised by the sudden order and the clear expression of panic on their commander’s face, but their training was solid. Less than a couple seconds later over 60% of their members withdrew their weapons and tensed their muscles, readying themselves for a dangerous battle.

"Hmph good reactions Rathborne but unfortunately the outcome will remain the same Kill!" A moment later the camp was suddenly attacked from the flanks by several dozen high ranking B-ranks and four A-ranks while Red and Baron Glorfile launched attacks on Rathborne.

Chaos erupted instantly, the high ranking B-ranks committed mass slaughter, erasing the lives of tens of D and C-ranks in a matter of seconds while the strongest targeted the B-ranks.

"CAVALISH!!" Rathborne roared in panic, his body quickly encased in his aura as he blocked Red/Cavalish’s three pronged claws and Baron Glorfile’s destructive fist.

The attack was too sudden, violent and merciless that Rathborne’s mighty 150 army struggled to defend themselves.

Like a bunch of starving predators diving into a herd of sheep.
