Alm and Bruno watched that tiny drop of chaos, excited and surprised.
’This is as unusual as our Duality of Shadows law. But it seems to affect the physical, while ours is more focused on energies and laws,’ Alm murmured.
Legends say that the laws of chaos were abundant at the beginning of the universe. This law was the source of all matter in the universe. In other words, all physical matter and even the body of the universe came from the laws of chaos. Every star, every planet, all the vast galaxies were part of the body of the universe. Of course, with only the physical without energy and law, there is no life. It was similar to the concept of Yin and Yang; life and death must walk together for everything to exist. So without chaos and celestial laws, everything is just emptiness.
Bruno nodded but sighed. ’Well, we don’t have much time to analyze. We’ll have to use this immediately.’
Currently, the seed seemed like it wouldn’t give them anything else. Only when they provided Yin and Yang did the inventory gain more vitality to sustain living things. The cost was still too high and didn’t seem feasible at the moment. They didn’t know what caused the seed to produce this drop, but perhaps in the future, they could find out and obtain more of it.
Soon, they exited the inventory, and the drop of chaos came out without surprises; spatial laws were nothing to it. They felt that rusty metal of the blade, something very strange. Carefully, they moved the single drop of chaos and placed it on that metal.
Crack!
Immediately, they saw a tiny crack appear in the blade. It was minimal, but they were extremely excited...
CRACK!!
Then, a much louder sound erupted, along with a violent tremor. The entire colossal skeleton that was buried and sealed in the ’sacred mountain’ cracked. The entire seal was undone!
But... nothing happened after that...
The seal was undone, but their souls and everything still remained trapped in the metal. Alm was completely enraged, so Bruno spoke calmly. ’Well, with this crack, we can pass a small thread with our soul...’
’WE CAN’T EVEN MOVE!!’ roared Alm. ’We are completely useless on our own...’
The small kitchen knife was only halfway buried in the earth. But the two couldn’t move or do anything. It was a situation bordering on despair for them both.
Bruno sighed and continued. ’I know you wanted to kill them all. But we have to join the resistance according to the mission. We have no choice, we have to use these people, not our own power.’
Through the small crack, a thin thread of their divine soul could emerge. So, with no other option, they used it to observe around. Two threads as thin as hair strands, emerged with opposite colors. They sneaked out and, through the air, were carried away.
It didn’t take long for them to spot the walls of a nearby city. Thunderous sounds echoed from there. Alm and Bruno were intrigued, but suddenly they saw warships emerging and cutting through the void swiftly toward the city.
They were imposing in size and shape, resembling metal beasts. Moreover, runes flowed all over their body, and a murderous aura emanated from them. They were truly impressive.
There were dozens of them, passing straight through the sight of those soul fragments. The sound of space being torn apart and the dome of the sky being shattered sent shockwaves in all directions.
Then, furious roars echoed ahead of them. The whole world was instantly shrouded in darkness as numerous humans and dwarves in the city were attacked by the warships.
The ships unleashed waves of elemental rays upon everyone. Faced with these rays, they all proved as fragile as paper and were instantly shredded apart. Their blood stained the sky red.

’What interesting warships,’ said Bruno, amazed. ’In this universe, technology seems to have evolved considerably alongside cultivation, for some reason.’
The two dashed forward using the air, then climbed a mountain, catching sight of the ancient city in the distance, engulfed in the chaos of an ongoing bloody battle. However, both the dwarves and humans defending themselves were equipped with mechanical and advanced technology. It was a scene worthy of a science fiction movie, with colorful laser beams cutting through the air in all directions.
’The system said this planet is where the most powerful cultivators in this universe reside,’ observed Alm, surprised.
Bruno noticed their cultivation level and understood. ’A handful are in the early and middle stages of Body Destruction... that explains why they have such advanced technology. This universe doesn’t have enough Qi for them to advance into the divine realms. The queen’s interferences here must have influenced this.’
As the battle between the warships and the city dwellers continued fiercely, it seemed the latter were gaining ground. However, the warships suddenly lit up.
Then, the ships exploded, and nets made of runes covered the skies. Some of the inhabitants were ensnared by the net, but the whole city was trapped, preventing any attempt to flee. Black ships emerged shortly after, completely encircling the city. The attacking ships pretended to be at a disadvantage, so the cultivators went all out to end it quickly. It was a meticulously crafted trap to prevent any chance of escape or defense.
The black ships didn’t attack immediately. From one of them emerged a human who spoke calmly. "Gentlemen, the Divine Fairies no longer wish for bloodshed. Please surrender, and you will be spared."
The human’s words sounded sincere, and Alm and Bruno felt they weren’t just empty words. He really didn’t want to hurt them. However, the response came in a loud and rough manner.
"These damn heretics! Nobody in this city is a coward! My brother will avenge my death in the Imperial City, you bastards!" shouted a short and sturdy dwarf, visibly furious.
The human responded in a slow and calm tone. "Gentlemen, the new hero has been killed. Two of them are already gone; give up. Life is more important."
"THE GOLDEN GODDESS WILL BURN THESE DAMNED ONES!" roared the dwarf and several others, in a fanatical and insane tone.
"She has already made contact with one of ours, you fools. The goddess has not abandoned us. Soon we will be avenged," said the dwarf, laughing sinisterly.
Alm was enraged. ’Damn it, we have to join these damn fanatics. I just want to see them burning alive and suffering.’
Bruno snorted, feeling exactly the same. There was no desire to join them... but they needed to do it to complete the mission. Meanwhile, the human just tensed up. There was nothing more to be said. The battle continued, but the city dwellers were without escape routes and completely cornered.
It lasted only a few minutes when Alm and Bruno saw a golden light appear at various different points in the city. On a dozen inhabitants, a golden rune appeared on their foreheads, radiating power.
They all rallied together, led by the dwarf who seemed to be the leader. They coordinated a powerful joint attack against the central black ship of the enemies.
BOOOM!
The black ship exploded violently in an unexpected and infinitely powerful blast. Immediately, everyone around was thrown, spitting blood in all directions. A hole opened in the net.
Alm and Bruno watched carefully as a reddish figure emerged from the city. Cutting through the horizon, it passed quickly by them. It was the dwarf leader of the city, still alive.
But...
He flew towards a nearby mountain and collided with it. And it wasn’t just any mountain, it was the sacred mountain where Alm and Bruno were. This definitely didn’t seem like a coincidence; it was a clear sign for them.
’That damn manipulation of the Heaven’s Will,’ said Alm dryly.
