Sounds of bones being crushed echoed within the cave. ’Well, it’s not that bad; give it a try.’ Bruno remarked, turning his head to the side and slowly chewing on the bones. The other canine head had a twisted face and refused to look at what was being eaten.

’This Cerberus bloodline seems to strengthen by eating... I can subtly feel the lineage in the blood becoming denser. Don’t be so proud.’ Bruno continued teasing. ’Next time, if she asks to roll over or lie on our back, it’ll be your turn.’

’SHUT UP! WE’RE GETTING OUT OF THIS PLACE!’ Alm finally exploded.

Bruno laughed, enjoying himself, trying to alleviate some of the humiliation in his chest. The system seemed to choose the weirdest situation possible for them. Thinking about it, Bruno remembered they hadn’t checked the quest, as they had become so immersed in that significant event. With just a thought, the greenish window appeared in front of them.

[Main mission initiated]

[Create unity among races and give life to a divine soul.]

[Main reward: Core Formation Cultivation Unlocked.]

[Extra Reward 01: 40 upgrade points.]

[Extra Reward 02: One or more ’completely random’ bonus chests, depending on performance.]

’Hm? It changed a bit; now, we won’t receive one chest but several.’ Bruno commented seriously.

’This ’completely random’ highlighted part seems like some bullshit. With this shitty system, we can’t expect much.’ Alm grumbled, and Bruno agreed with the first part.

Soon, Bruno thought about reading the summary, which they had discovered existed last time by chance. Then, the screen appeared, asking for confirmation, which was immediately accepted.

[The hero of the Queen, after reaching the cultivation limit and purging all the evil haunting the universe, decided to create an elite group to be his eyes and hands under his command.]

[So, a great dispute, filled with intrigues and carnage, was initiated among all races in the universe. After a few centuries, two supreme kings stood out amid the bloodbath: a Demon and a supreme Demonic Beast. The hero then decided to create a competition between the two for them to decide the winner.]

[They were taken to a location separated from the rest of the universe, and the hero constantly fueled both sides with demons and beasts to form their armies, kidnapping them from the same universe. Then, both had to decide the winner, not by individual strength but by command ability. However, unbeknownst to the two kings, this game was impossible to be won by either side.]

[The true goal of the hero was to give life to an immaculate divine soul and thus break the limits of mortal realms, reaching the true divine realms. Be the first to create this divine miracle, unify the races, and be the nemesis, bringing glory to Heaven’s Will!]

Alm and Bruno read the quest summary and context attentively. Again, a hero... both felt their blood boil as they read, feeling the desire to kill all possible heroes. At least the main quests served to ease this desire. When they reached the final part, their minds became pensive and doubtful.

’Creating unity among races, it seems obvious that it’s about the demons and beasts kidnapped and brought into this competition forcibly.’ Bruno spoke affirmatively. ’But, true divine realm... divine soul... is that what I’m thinking?’

Alm stayed silent, equally doubtful for a while. ’We broke through the mortal realms and reached this true divine realm in the past. It was thanks to that that we found out about the Queen’s existence. But, we never heard of a divine soul before breaking through. Only after we broke through did we realize our soul became something of that level... but... could it be it is necessary to first have a Divine Soul and only then can one achieve a breakthrough?’ Alm commented, vividly recalling the moment of advancement in the other universe.

’It seems like Heaven’s Will has given us many other things besides being reincarnated with memories from Earth and not being controlled by the queen since birth.’ Bruno replied lightly. ’Well, there’s no use wanting to know or think about it now. When we reach that level again, we’ll have the opportunity to investigate.’

Silent minutes passed, and both turned their attention to the quest, but they understood that there was much information missing. They had to explore everything before acting, or they would certainly find themselves in a dead-end situation.

’We have to escape, but first, we need to deal with the collar.’ Bruno said with a strange smile.

The two focused on what they already knew they could use in any universe, the Yin and Yang Supreme Qi Collector. They didn’t have the tattoos formed, but they could create them using a bit of...

’We don’t have any Qi in this useless body?’ Alm spoke incredulously. Then both focused on sensing the Qi around... but, to their surprise, there was no Qi around.

’This world is completely devoid of Qi. It seems like the competition between the kings takes place in a location similar to a spatial ring, shaped by high manipulations of spatial laws, isolated from their universe completely.’ Bruno concluded.

Alm then commented. ’Beasts and demons are known for their powerful physiques, so things would be more fair to balance the armies... or maybe there’s another reason for this.’

Both were then forced to use their true divine souls. If they hadn’t found a way to restore them within the prison, they would be in a desperate situation. The Cerberus closed its eyes in extreme concentration, and after almost an hour, both heads opened their eyes at the same time.

In one head’s eyes, a whitish rune appeared; in the other, the color was black and ominous. Then, a crack resonated in the air, and two collars appeared around the necks of the two heads. With a light snort from both, the runes in their eyes intensified their light; then, the collars cracked and, in seconds, turned to dust.

’Definitely, we can’t use our soul in that way, or we’ll be in a serious situation way too fast, wearing it out.’ Bruno commented.

They burned the power of the soul, replacing Qi with it. Despite being divine souls and not requiring great effort, their souls had a finite amount of energy, and they couldn’t easily replenish it. It would be better to use it wisely in moments when there was no other way out.

Now free from their chains, they approached the cave door and focused on sensing the outside. To their surprise, being something bestial close to a dog had its positives. The physical senses of this body, like smell and hearing, were extremely sharp. If they were humans, they would have to use Qi or the soul to have the same level, but at this moment, it didn’t require much effort.

They were certain that they were inside a larger cave, full of enclosed spaces. But luckily, they quickly realized that there was no one inside anywhere. Since no one could use Qi and relied solely on the physical body, there was no possibility of hiding with some technique.

The door was sealed from the outside, with just a stone that wasn’t even very large; the demoness trusted the collar she put on her little dog, that he shouldn’t be able to escape. Alm and Bruno then easily got out, not forgetting to close the cave again without leaving traces behind. Finally, they ran outside awkwardly. They still had to get used to walking on all fours like a dog.
