Chapter 326: Chapter 230: The First Tier Three Ability, Meeting King Arthur
Lin Qi had originally thought he had already undergone the most significant change that came with a Wizard’s promotion to Tier Three.
Transforming into a Tentacle Monster should be one of the most powerful abilities of a Tier Three Wizard.
But as he analyzed this Tier Three Crystal Stone, Lin Qi realized he had still underestimated the Wizard Extraordinary Profession.
As his first Tier Three ability slowly took form, Lin Qi’s Sea of Consciousness quietly changed.
At the edge of his Sea of Consciousness, the boundary grew increasingly distinct, as if a defensive barrier was about to appear.
With the appearance of this barrier, a Wizard’s mental defenses would be greatly enhanced.
Combined with the Tentacle Monster form, a Tier Three Wizard would be an utterly terrifying existence.
A powerful Tentacle Monster physique, exceptionally high Spiritual Domain defense, and at least nine completely different—yet potentially interconnected—abilities.
Before Tier Three, the Wizard Extraordinary Profession might have had various shortcomings.
But after Tier Three, aside from the inability to install a Prosthetic Body, it was nearly a perfect Extraordinary Profession.
Powerful, mysterious...
’The Tentacle Monster form is just a little ugly.’
...
When Lin Qi opened his eyes, the world around him seemed clearer than ever.
Activating his Spiritual Vision, Lin Qi could perceive the presence of Spiritual Power more clearly than ever.
This was the power that resulted from the fusion of his new ability and Spiritual Vision.
He could now roughly discern the Spiritual Power strength of any Extraordinary within his Spiritual Vision’s range, even if they weren’t actively using their powers.
’This means that in the Cyber World, I’ll be able to distinguish between Extraordinaries and ordinary people much more easily.’
’In the past, I had to use an ability to test them. Anyone I couldn’t control was an Extraordinary stronger than me.’
’But now, any Extraordinary Professional within a thousand-meter radius will have nowhere to hide.’
From now on, Lin Qi was a walking Extraordinary Professional detector in the Cyber World, with a coverage range of a full kilometer.
And this was just a side effect the new ability had on his Spiritual Vision, not its primary function.
As for his first Tier Three ability...
’Spiritual Power Absorption!’
It was almost exactly what Lin Qi had predicted: the ability to absorb the Spiritual Power of other Extraordinaries.
Through his Spiritual Vision, Lin Qi’s gaze locked onto the interior of a building some distance from the Club Activity Building.
It was where the only two remaining Moon Worshipers were staying.
The two had now become Wei Yue’s Black Slaves, kept busy producing Blood Moon Descent Objects.
Every day, under Wei Yue’s supervision, they had to shuttle between the entrance of Mo University and the workshop, hauling large quantities of Zombie corpses.
To prevent others in the camp from being contaminated by the Blood Moon Descent Objects, these two were tasked with all the work.
Their lives were tiring, yet fulfilling!
Lin Qi’s new ability wasn’t easy to test, as it required him to use it on a living being.
He couldn’t very well experiment on his classmates in the camp, could he?
Therefore, the two Moon Worshipers would have to be the unfortunate subjects.
...
Cai Chang, one of the busy Moon Worshipers, suddenly felt a sharp, needle-like pain in his head. A second later, he felt dizzy.
"Cai Chang, don’t you go faking sick! That woman won’t buy it. Get up and get back to work!"
"But... I don’t feel right... I..."
Before he could finish, he collapsed to the ground with a THUD.
...
Lin Qi hadn’t been trying to kill him; it was just a simple test.
’The effect is about what I guessed, but the principle is a bit different.’
’First, I can forcibly absorb the Spiritual Power of other Extraordinaries, and even ordinary people. I’m not yet sure if I can do it to beings with a higher Extraordinary Professional Level than my own.’
’After it’s absorbed, this portion of Spiritual Power is severed from its original owner. I can then use it to activate my other abilities, though the conversion rate is a bit lower.’
’Furthermore, this Spiritual Power can’t be used to strengthen myself, nor can it be stored. It falls into the category of "use it or lose it."’
’But I can use the siphoned Spiritual Power to fuel Spiritual Power Absorption again, essentially creating a continuous drain on the enemy’s Spiritual Power.’
In short, it was a type of mental attack, just not a very direct one.
For other Wizards, this ability might not be very useful.
But on Lin Qi, it fit right in with his usual style.
Paired with his Spiritual Vision, his enemies would have no idea where the attack was coming from.
They could only watch helplessly as their Spiritual Power drained away, leaving them weakened.
’I need to find someone with a higher Extraordinary Professional Level to experiment on. I have a feeling this ability has some fascinating applications.’
Breaking through to a new tier didn’t bring Lin Qi much joy.
This was a common affliction among Wizard Professionals.
Every breakthrough required them to focus on developing new abilities, leaving no time for celebration.
Retracting his Spiritual Vision, Lin Qi opened his eyes and glanced at the time.
A full nine hours had passed. This was the longest Lin Qi had ever spent analyzing an Extraordinary Item, which was likely related to the item’s Level.
Reaching Tier Three meant crossing the threshold into the High Tiers. In the Cyber World, he would no longer be considered weak.
He walked out of the conference room and headed to the production workshop to check on the progress of the T2-class Spacecraft.
The blueprints detailed numerous components, many of which were small parts the grunts had to painstakingly fashion by hand with tools like files.
"Boss, everything’s going smoothly. We’re on schedule. We should be able to start assembly and calibration sometime tomorrow afternoon."
Wang Ziru had dark circles under his eyes. Clearly, he was taking this urgent task from Lin Qi very seriously.
