Chapter 251: Chapter 195: The Headquarters’ Decision?
When Liu Wei came to, he found himself surrounded by onlookers.
And the looks on everyone’s faces were odd.
But luckily, the brand-new sensations in his body allowed Liu Wei to temporarily ignore them.
"So this is a Prosthetic Body? What a strange feeling."
Although the Prosthetic Body contained tactile sensors, its sensitivity was definitely different from the original organic part.
This was also one of the causes of cyber psychosis.
But for a brand-new Implanter, the sensation was merely novel, not yet enough to be mentally tormenting.
After getting used to the feeling, Liu Wei’s gaze fell upon Lin Qi.
It wasn’t just Liu Wei—everyone’s attention was now on Lin Qi.
"The Prosthetic Body implantation was a success. This surgery is still quite difficult, even with the prosthetic’s self-correction features. The fact that you completed it on the first try proves that our Mo University students have more than enough practical skill."
"Next, we will calibrate the prosthetic’s parameters and test its data."
Lin Qi offered some words of summary and encouragement. For novice Prosthetic Doctors, the new team in the infirmary had performed the surgery beautifully.
Perhaps it was related to the high-intensity, hands-on experience they had accumulated since the start of the apocalypse.
The next steps of the process didn’t need to be done in the infirmary.
After a brief word with Ding Yang, Lin Qi had Wang Ziru lead the way to the testing workshop, which also served as the production facility for Mo University’s various weapons and equipment.
This was Ding Yang’s first time here, and his eyes immediately filled with envy as he looked at the medium- and large-scale equipment in the workshop.
He wasn’t just envious of the equipment, but also of the Mo University Camp’s current energy supply.
After all, Hongshan Camp was still plagued by periodic power outages.
"Lin Qi, what you’ve built at the Mo University Camp is truly a sight to behold for the two of us."
Ding Yang and Jiang Shangyang praised Lin Qi.
Lin Qi wasn’t surprised. After all, both of them currently wanted something from the Mo University Camp.
"Please, Director Ding, don’t praise me so much. Every time you do, I feel like you’re about to make an outrageous request," Lin Qi responded jokingly.
Ding Yang immediately gave an awkward yet polite smile.
The process that followed was a true eye-opener for Ding Yang and Jiang Shangyang.
The team in charge of producing the Prosthetic Bodies took over the post-implantation calibration and data testing.
Speed and strength—these were the mandatory test parameters.
As the test proceeded, Wang Ziru explained, "Liu Wei’s physical strength is at the Tier One Level, which corresponds to M-Class prosthetic strength."
"But it’s possible to install a Prosthetic Body that’s a higher Level than the user. Even an ordinary person can be fitted with an L-Class Prosthetic Body, although they might not be able to unleash its full performance."
"However, if the gap is only a single tier, the prosthetic’s performance can be almost fully unleashed."
"What we’re conducting now is that very performance release test..."
Wang Ziru had done his homework. He didn’t originally need to know any of this, but in order to manage the camp better, he had forced himself to learn about every single aspect of it.
It was precisely because of Wang Ziru’s diligence that Lin Qi could, under the most favorable conditions, effortlessly flex his muscles and show off the strength of his products.
Before long, the baseline metric tests were complete.
When the report was presented, Ding Yang and Jiang Shangyang both gasped.
"It’s really Tier Two combat strength... and the stats are even higher than what Headquarters has on record for most Tier Two monsters."
"With technology like this, even if the monsters get stronger, they won’t be able to do anything to the Mo University Camp."
He was envious. Incredibly envious.
Ding Yang looked at Lin Qi, then at Wang Ziru. His intention was obvious. ’Can we talk now?’
After seeing the numbers, Ding Yang could no longer conceal his eagerness.
Beside Lin Qi, Wang Ziru continued his explanation. "Director Ding, we’ve only tested the prosthetic’s basic stats. We haven’t even mounted any weapon systems yet. Don’t you want to see more?"
Ding Yang immediately replied, "No need! We’ve already seen plenty. Shall we talk?"
Lin Qi nodded.
Wang Ziru immediately led the way with a smile, taking Ding Yang and Jiang Shangyang back to the first floor and into the conference room Ding Yang was already familiar with.
Once they were settled, Lin Qi stopped keeping Director Ding in suspense and took the initiative to speak.
"Director Ding, let’s not beat around the bush. The reason I showed you the Mo University Camp’s latest research is that I am, of course, willing to give this power to the rescue teams."
"However, the production process for these Prosthetic Bodies is incredibly complex. It wouldn’t be feasible for the Mo University Camp to simply give away the related technology."
Hearing this, Director Ding immediately understood.
’So Lin Qi is dissatisfied with Headquarters after all.’
Yes, Ding Yang didn’t think for a second that Lin Qi was being wary of Headquarters. He was simply expressing his dissatisfaction.
The reason, of course, was the incident with Changpu District’s call for aid, when Headquarters offered only selective support, abandoning large areas for the sake of the "bigger picture."
While it was a necessary evil in the apocalypse and arguably the optimal solution...
...as someone from one of the abandoned areas, Ding Yang couldn’t possibly try to persuade Lin Qi otherwise.
In other words, Ding Yang felt that Headquarters was in the wrong.
Lin Qi, for his part, hadn’t expected that Ding Yang would unconsciously create such a reasonable justification for his actions.
Ding Yang spoke up, "With the current production capabilities of our various rescue teams, it’s true that we couldn’t produce such high-precision, cutting-edge equipment."
He was agreeing with Lin Qi. Beside him, Jiang Shangyang frowned but offered no rebuttal.
Lin Qi nodded and continued, "But the rate at which the Zombies and monsters are getting stronger is accelerating. Since our Mo University Camp is located in Modu, we naturally don’t want to see the nearby rescue camps fall."
