Chapter 228: Chapter 183: Mo University Camp Cyberization Plan (2)

...

With his new Tier Three Extraordinary Items, Lin Qi returned to the Mo University Camp.

Sitting in the sixth-floor conference room, Lin Qi finally had time to inspect the things Ding Yang had brought this time.

He didn’t need to dwell on the two Tier Two Extraordinary Items. A quick glance at their files revealed that the corresponding monsters’ powers seemed incompatible with his current set of Abilities.

They weren’t even as good as Splitting. At least the Splitting Ability could form a Combined Skill with Decomposition Mimicry.

Plus, with Spiritual Vision in the mix, the Splitting Ability might hold even more surprises for Lin Qi.

Lin Qi’s focus shifted to the Special Merit document.

This was also a Tier Two Extraordinary Item. Lin Qi had no intention of analyzing it. Instead, he activated his Spiritual Vision and observed the document, inch by inch.

As if trying to dissect it completely.

Unfortunately, he couldn’t see a thing.

He couldn’t tell at all that this Extraordinary Item was at work.

It was as if the changes in Spiritual Particle activity and the buff he’d received had nothing to do with it.

’I still can’t figure it out. The power wielded by the Dragon Country officials is still mysterious and formidable enough.’

He shook his head, put the document away again, and locked it in the safe that Wang Ziru had prepared.

Apparently, the safe was from the principal’s office. Its original contents had been cleared out, as they were all useless in the doomsday.

The safe offered no protection whatsoever against an Extraordinary, but it was better than nothing.

Leaving the conference room, he saw there was still a little over an hour left until the cooldown for the Door ended.

Lin Qi went to find Wang Ziru.

"Boss, what are your orders?"

Wang Ziru’s attitude was the same as ever; his growing importance in the camp hadn’t made him the least bit arrogant. 𝗳𝚛𝚎𝚎𝘄𝕖𝕓𝕟𝕠𝚟𝚎𝕝.𝗰𝕠𝐦

His understanding of the situation was crystal clear—clearer than anyone else’s in the camp.

The Mo University Camp was special for one reason and one reason only: Lin Qi.

Never mind that Lin Qi had no desire to get involved in management—even if Lin Qi had a sudden whim to restore a monarchy and crown himself emperor, Wang Ziru would be the first to hand him the imperial robe.

Lin Qi led Wang Ziru into the conference room.

Lin Qi began, "What’s your assessment of the current doomsday situation? At Mo University’s current rate of development, do you think we can continue to just focus on self-preservation?"

Wang Ziru was taken aback for a moment, then he understood. Lin Qi was consulting him.

Just like Liu Bei with Zhuge Kongming...

Wang Ziru suddenly felt a sacred sense of historical purpose wash over him.

He shook his head, wanting to say something profound.

But while Wang Ziru was an experienced and capable manager, his literary eloquence was, ultimately, no match for the ancients.

In the end, Wang Ziru could only manage four words: "The outlook is grim."

That’s right. Even though the Mo University Camp appeared to be thriving, Wang Ziru’s assessment of the situation remained grim.

"Right now, our Mo University Camp may have the Potions developed by you, Boss, as well as production lines for Electromagnetic Weapons and Exoskeletons."

"But according to the professors’ analysis and the Zombie power-growth curves they’ve created, we probably only have about a month of peace left."

"A month from now, the camp’s field teams will generally be strong enough to handle Tier Two Zombies. But by then, the number of Tier Two Zombies and other Tier Two monsters will skyrocket, and they might even become the standard combat force among the monsters in this doomsday."

"With our mere four hundred people, it will be difficult to deal with such a massive number of monsters. After all, the population of this city was..."

As he spoke, Wang Ziru shook his head again and fell silent.

Lin Qi hadn’t expected Wang Ziru’s intelligence to be so comprehensive.

Or perhaps, there were quite a few truly talented and knowledgeable professors in the Mo University Camp.

They had actually managed to perform a data-driven analysis and arrive at a precise conclusion.

Lin Qi nodded and continued speaking to Wang Ziru, "Currently, looking at the growth rate of Extraordinary Power, humanity is falling far behind the Zombies and other monsters."

"Although in terms of peak individual strength, humans aren’t much weaker than monsters, from a group perspective, we will indeed be at a complete disadvantage in about a month’s time."

"If we don’t make a change, it won’t just be the Mo University Camp; nearly all camps will face a crisis."

"Theoretically, the official Headquarters should have a better understanding of the situation a month from now than we do, and they’ve likely already formulated a response."

"But the Mo University Camp is, after all, just a ’named’ camp. Even if we have Headquarters’ approval, I doubt we’ll receive any support from them."

Wang Ziru strongly agreed with Lin Qi’s assessment.

He had met and dealt with Ding Yang many times.

He could see Headquarters’ aversion to civilian camps.

But asking the students of Mo University to abandon the camp they had spent so long building?

They just couldn’t do it.

A considerable number of teams from the camp had been to Hongshan Camp and witnessed the conditions there.

Leaving aside the living conditions, the atmosphere among the survivors alone...

It was simply unacceptable to the university students!

In the Mo University Camp, everyone helped each other and was united and friendly.

But in a mixed bag of a place like Hongshan Camp, a good number of the survivors were not to be trifled with.

Nice people rarely survived long enough in the doomsday to be saved by a rescue team.

Most were tough characters, the kind who dared to take on Zombies one-on-one in the early days of the doomsday.

Under such circumstances, the atmosphere in most camps was extremely oppressive, completely devoid of vitality.

Leave the Mo University Camp for Hongshan Camp?

Most people were unwilling.

"Boss, you make the call. We’ll all listen to you!"

Wang Ziru’s words came from the heart. He could tell that Lin Qi seemed to be looking for a change.

’I just don’t know if Lin Qi wants to take the people from Mo University Camp to Hongshan Camp to take over the place and secure Headquarters’ support, or if he has something else in mind.’

Wang Ziru quickly shook the treacherous thought from his head.

’Take over the place? What was I thinking?’

That wasn’t Lin Qi’s idea; it was just Wang Ziru’s own speculation.

Lin Qi did have a solution, but it would require the Mo University Camp students to volunteer.

"Right now, in terms of Exoskeleton R&D and production, the camp can only produce up to L-Class. Even if I have schematics for an A-Class, our current industrial capacity makes it impossible to manufacture."

"L-Class corresponds to Tier Two monsters."

"The problem is, using an Exoskeleton places demands on the human body. An ordinary person can’t handle the strain of an Exoskeleton operating at full combat power. This means that even wearing an L-Class Exoskeleton doesn’t guarantee they can fight a Tier Two monster."

"Therefore, I’ve developed a new technology: implantable Prosthetic Bodies."

Lin Qi’s plan was not complicated.

Raise the strength of the entire group on the Extraordinary Side in a short amount of time?

That was completely unrealistic!

Only the official Headquarters had that kind of capability, and even they faced certain limitations.

The solution Lin Qi proposed was simple and brutal.

Convert the camp’s Exoskeleton production lines directly into Prosthetic Body production lines!

Prosthetic Bodies placed far fewer demands on the user’s body than Exoskeletons. Furthermore, due to spatial constraints, a Prosthetic Body of the same volume could output far more combat power than an Exoskeleton.

"Prosthetic Bodies? Like... cyberpunk?"

Wang Ziru was so shocked he blurted it out.

Before the doomsday, the world had cyberpunk-themed cultural and entertainment products.

It was humanity’s vision of the future.

But now Lin Qi was saying he was going to bring that vision into reality?

"More or less, yes," Lin Qi nodded.

Lin Qi then briefly described the concept of Prosthetic Bodies to Wang Ziru, but he also explained their drawbacks.

"To ensure the efficiency of a Prosthetic Body, the connection to the user isn’t through analog signals, but a direct link to the nervous system."

"As a result, the Prosthetic Body will, to some extent, conflict with the immune system and corrode the nerves."

"So, anyone who wants a Prosthetic Body implant must undergo regular physical examinations to prevent excessive neural strain, which could burn out the brain and lead to cyber psychosis."

Lin Qi didn’t hide any of the Prosthetic Body’s defects, informing Wang Ziru of all the potential consequences.

The choice would be left up to each individual in the Mo University Camp.

Lin Qi wouldn’t force anyone. After all, besides the Mo University Camp, he still had Ding Yang as a channel to help him collect Extraordinary Items.

Lin Qi believed that, given the situation on Ding Yang’s side, there would probably be many Warriors fighting for a chance to get Prosthetic Body implants.

Not to mention the group of wounded who had lost arms and legs since the doomsday began.

"Boss, I understand. Leave the rest to me. By tomorrow, I will have a list of everyone willing to get a Prosthetic Body implant."

"Furthermore, I will coordinate fully on the production side. Everything is for survival; it’s my undeniable duty."

Wang Ziru made his promise, determined to carry out the task Lin Qi had given him to perfection.
