Chapter 98: Step 98 to Greatness: Use The Days Before The End

"An apocalypse? In three days? What the hell do you mean by that?" Adrian asked, sitting up so fast his body didn’t even register the pain.

[I wasn’t supposed to tell you that. The others wanted to keep it quiet so you wouldn’t panic. But I figured you would need time to plan accordingly.]

Adrian ran a hand through his hair, trying to process the information. His class didn’t let him panic or be scared, but that didn’t mean he wasn’t worried.

"Three days... that’s not a lot of time. What kind of apocalypse are we talking about?"

[You will know in time. I cannot disclose much about it right now.]

Suddenly, it hit him. When he had asked about when he could summon his recruits, the scholar ancestor had told him it would take three days to sort everything, and the apocalypse is also arriving in three days.

The Playboy ancestor must have read his mind, or it was just that easy to read his expressions.

[Smart kid. Yes. With all the chaos that’s about to break loose, those on the upper floors won’t notice the discrepancy. You’ll be able to summon whatever or whoever you need for assistance without them catching on]

Adrian ran his hand over his face. It was a good thing because now he wouldn’t have to worry about the drama in school or paying off his father’s debts.

On the other hand, now he would have to face another danger, and unlike the Savage Earth, he did not have the tribeswomen to help him adjust to the new reality.

"I need to stock up on supplies first. Medicines and that stuff. I already have a shit tonne of food in my inventory and a weapon too. Drinking water is a must as well... what else?"

Suddenly, he remembered something and rushed to find a sheet of paper and began making a list of things and people he would ’recruit’ in the new reality. As long as he picked the right people, maybe he could bring them to Savage Earth for their assistance there.

[Don’t forget about your class either. Judging by the rate at which you can procreate, you’ll need a lot of proper equipment as well.]

"...right. Wait, the one-month pregnancy thing would happen in the new reality as well?"

[What do you think?]

The next morning...

Adrian was busy doing exercises recommended to him by his ancestors. At last, he dropped to the floor and began doing push-ups at a sped-up pace.

Sweat dripped from his forehead, and his arms burned, but his body felt considerably lighter. It was all thanks to the Supreme ancestor for forcing him to go beyond his limit.

Then again, it could also be the result of his mind being occupied. After all, he was planning his survival strategy regarding an unforeseen apocalypse.

Just then, his bedroom door creaked open. His mother walked in, holding a glass of juice that Nurse Lee had recommended for healing his wounds. She stopped in her tracks, her eyes widening in surprise when she saw him out of bed and drenched in sweat.

"Adrian! What are you doing?" she exclaimed, assuming he had fallen out of bed.

"Just exercising a bit, Mom," Adrian replied, looking up at her, still holding his plank position. "I was getting bored doing nothing, so..."

Yeji’s worry quickly turned to anger. She was worried her son was suffering through mental trauma from the attack, but no, he was just being a reckless brat.

"Exercising? You were told to rest because of your injuries!" She marched over, grabbed his ear, and pulled him off the ground. "Are you trying to make things worse for your mother?"

As she pulled him to his feet, she noticed something strange. Most of the wounds on Adrian’s body had healed. There were still some black and blue marks, but the cuts and bruises that had covered him the day before were gone, not even leaving the scars behind.

He had recovered to the point that no one would believe Nurse Lee had said he would need a walking stick to move around.

"Adrian, how...?" Yeji’s voice trailed off in confusion as she examined his nearly healed body.

"I’m feeling a lot better, Mom. Really."

"But how can this be? You were so hurt..." Yeji shook her head, still not quite believing what she was seeing.

Not wanting to explain the truth about the healing salve, something she wouldn’t believe anyway, Adrian quickly took the glass of juice from her.

"It’s probably the juice Nurse Lee recommended. Maybe it’s got some magical healing properties," he said, gulping down the bitter-tasting drink in one go, wincing slightly at the taste.

"Are you sure it’s that—"

"Thanks for bringing this, Mom," he said, pushing her gently towards the door. "I have some work to do and need some privacy."

"Alright, but don’t overdo it," Yeji mumbled, still shocked and confused, and willingly allowed herself to be pushed out of the room. "You still need to rest."

"I will, Mom. Don’t worry," Adrian reassured her, closing the door behind her.

Yeji stood outside his room for a moment. She couldn’t understand how Adrian had recovered so quickly. It seemed impossible, yet here he was, almost back to his old self.

Shaking her head, she turned and hurried down the hallway. She had to thank Nurse Lee for recommending that juice. Maybe it really was some sort of miracle cure.

"I should get more recipes from her," Yeji said, smiling. "Maybe she has some cure to get rid of aging skin and wrinkles."

Back in his room, Adrian sat on the edge of his bed. Also, he was glad his mother was so easily convinced by the explanation about the juice.

The truth about his world-hopping abilities and rewards was something he preferred to keep to himself. It was his secret, and he wasn’t ready to share it just yet, given they were about to be thrust into hell.

It’s not like anyone would believe me, either.

With that thought, Adrian sighed and began getting dressed. To procure the resources, he first needed to get some money. Well, not some, but a lot of money, and there was only one place to get that much money without raising questions.

"The saviors of our time, the loan sharks."
