Chapter 93: Step 93 to Greatness: To Fool Others, One Must Act
A few minutes later, Adrian stood with his arms crossed while Chad’s goons were sitting on the toilet floor on their knees. As for Chad, he was still enjoying his facial and hadn’t woken up.
"Wake him up," Adrian said, pointing at Chad, who still had his head inside the toilet pot.
One of the lackeys hesitated but eventually crawled over and shook Chad’s shoulder. Chad groaned but didn’t wake up.
Adrian saw it and took a deep breath, wondering if he had overdone it.
How was I supposed to know that even a common card would be this devastating to them?
Whether Chad woke up or not didn’t matter anymore. He had beaten the bullies to the point of submission. It was safe to say they weren’t Chad’s lackeys anymore.
As such, the problem of a credible alibi was solved. Now, only dealing with the crime scene was left. After all, he might have beaten them up, but he still needed to fool the school.
"Yeah, this should work," he nodded. "All of you, get up and form a line."
Now that they were thoroughly beaten up, they didn’t dare to disobey. They slowly got to their feet, forming a shaky line in front of Adrian.
Once they were done, Adrian pointed at the first guy and then pointed at his own cheek.
"Hit me hard."
"What? Hit—"
"Yes. Hit me."
The guy immediately shook his head in fear, not wanting to hit Adrian. The guy had single-handedly beaten the crap out of so many of them. He wasn’t a fool to give Adrian another excuse to suplex him.
Besides, he thought it was a test of loyalty. If he hit Adrian, Adrian would definitely hit him back for failing the test. However, it wasn’t the response Adrian wanted from him.
"Hit me, or I’ll hit you instead! Do it!"
"Okay!" the guy yelled back and swung a weak punch at Adrian’s chest. It barely made contact and didn’t hurt Adrian at all. Adrian whacked the guy back, sending him down to the floor.
"Idiot, you can’t even throw a punch now? I said hit me in the face like I hit you!"
The guy, now desperate, punched Adrian harder. This time, it actually landed with some force. Adrian smiled and nodded.
"Good. You can stay. Next!"
He called the next guy to do the same. The line continued, each lackey forced to hit Adrian as hard as they could. Adrian took every punch without flinching. After all, he was collecting evidence while also testing their mettle.
Whenever someone’s hits were weak, he would hit them back and also ask the others to hit them too. It ensured no one dared to hold back.
As he took the hits, he basically sorted them into two groups. One were the lightweights who didn’t hit properly, and the other were heavyweights, those who could both take and give strong hits.
By the time the last guy finished, the entire group was even more terrified. They had never seen anyone take hits like that and remain completely unfazed.
"From now on, you work for me. Is that clear?" Adrian told them.
However, even though they were afraid of him, they didn’t agree. He cracked his knuckles and looked at them. As if threatening them.
Suddenly, one guy folded his hands before Adrian, asking for mercy.
"I-It’s not like we don’t want to... It’s just that Chad knows a few people, and we don’t want to end up on his wrong side," the boy said. "But it’s only a small part of the reason. Actually... Chad paid us all $50 biweekly... so—"
"Is that all?" Adrian frowned before taking out his rundown cellphone. "Give me your usernames. I’ll Venmo you $100 when I get back. As for the people backing him, I’ll deal with them too. Is there anything else?"
With their worries taken care of, they nodded. Besides, they weren’t so clueless as not to know what Adrian wanted from them. He probably wanted them to spread the story of how he took them all on.
As for the hits he made them give him, those were probably to make the rest of them not lose their image. After all, he had to make his foot soldiers seem strong, right?
"Don’t worry, boss! We’ll work for you and tell everyone exactly how you beat the crap out of Chad and us—"
Before the guy could say another word, Adrian whacked him on the head.
"Who the fuck told you to tell anyone that?" he growled. "You will tell them how you beat me, and as for Chad, just tell everyone he slipped and fell headfirst into the toilet after beating me. Is that clear?"
The newly recruited goons looked at each other in confusion. They were taken aback by Adrian’s strange request.
What kind of boss was this who wanted his lackeys to defame him instead of praising his strength?
Chad had never told them to do something remotely similar. He always wanted them to sing his praises and spread stories of his dominance, no matter whether it was true or not.
But since Adrian wanted it this way, they had no choice but to comply.
"Good, now take Chad and leave," he said, waving them off. "If anyone asks what happened to him, just tell them he slipped and fell into the toilet after beating me up. If anyone still questions, just tell them karma did its job."
Another odd request, but they agreed and left in a hurry. However, as they left, Adrian didn’t forget to warn them.
"And remember, if I hear any of you causing trouble again, I won’t be as nice next time."
"...you were being nice?" one guy said absentmindedly.
"Of course I was. Didn’t I hug all of you?"
"...is that what you call suplexing us?"
"What was that?"
"N-Nothing, boss! We’re leaving now!"
Once they were gone, Adrian walked over to the sink and washed his hands thoroughly. He looked at himself in the mirror.
There were quite a few bruises on them, but they didn’t hurt much thanks to his enhanced physique. He practiced groaning in pain, making sure his acting was believable.
"Perfect," he mumbled to himself. "This should keep things quiet for a while."
