Chapter 174: Insane Luan Yi! Chen Xuan’s Fear!

There were many women with whom Chen Xuan shared a complicated relationship.

Some expressed their possessiveness openly, such as Su Tianyi and, to a certain extent, Tang Yuechen. Others buried those feelings as deeply as they could, like Huo Ling’er and Su Ying.

Chen Xuan had long since noticed these subtle changes.

He had simply chosen not to think about them. As long as no one voiced those feelings outright, he was more than happy to pretend they did not exist. It was a convenient form of self-deception, one he had maintained for years.

Even so, among all these women, there was no one Chen Xuan truly feared.

There were only two exceptions.

Mu Xuanyin, because she was unimaginably powerful and far beyond anything he could contend with.

Luan Yi, who, unlike Mu Xuanyin, did not possess overwhelming strength. What she did possess, however, was undisguised insanity.

Yes. Insanity. That was the only word Chen Xuan could find to describe her...

--

"Brother Chen... Brother Chen..."

Beside a crystal-clear lake, a lone woman sat with her bare feet submerged beneath the water, gently swaying them back and forth as though amusing herself.

She held a pitch-black banner in her hands, casually waving it from time to time. Every movement caused the thousands of ferocious ghosts imprisoned within to let out ear-piercing wails, their resentful cries echoing across the lake.

Yet she paid them no attention.

Every few moments, she would retrieve a transmission talisman, pour Spiritual Energy into it, and send another message to a certain man.

She repeated the process tirelessly. Again and again.

As though convinced that, sooner or later, her loved one would answer.

Yet just as it seemed this strange routine would continue forever, the woman’s feet suddenly stopped moving.

The ghosts fell silent.

For a brief moment, the entire lake was enveloped in absolute silence.

Until suddenly, the woman raised her head.

Her dark pupils became frighteningly sharp, seeming to pierce through the lake itself, through the Myriad Souls Sect, and into the distant Tianxuan Domain beyond.

A familiar aura had entered her senses.

"So familiar... Brother Chen... have you finally decided to visit Luan Yi’er?" she murmured softly.

The instant those words fell, her figure blurred.

One moment she was seated by the lake. The next, she was already standing.

Holding the Myriad Souls Banner in one hand, with her long hair fluttering behind her, she resembled a goddess of death descended upon the mortal world.

The countless ghosts within the banner howled in excitement, as though responding to her emotions.

But that chilling impression lasted only an instant.

Soon afterward, a bright smile bloomed across her face. Her figure vanished once more.

"Brother Chen... Brother Chen... This time, you won’t be able to escape."

Her gentle laughter echoed across the lake, carrying an indescribable madness.

"I can’t let you leave again. I can’t..."

"Who knows... maybe this time you’ll disappear forever."

"Compared to that... I’d rather keep you inside my banner."

"That way... We can stay together forever."

--

A streak of black light suddenly shot out from the slumbering giant that was the Myriad Souls Sect.

The gray mist surrounding the mountain split apart as a graceful figure soared into the sky.

Floating barefoot in midair, Luan Yi silently overlooked the land below.

Her gaze swept across the surroundings.

A split second later, her eyes brightened.

"Caught you!" She laughed happily.

The next instant, she disappeared once more.

When she reappeared, she was already within a forest several miles away from the Myriad Souls Sect.

Without the slightest hesitation, Spiritual Energy surged through her body.

A massive crimson hand, dripping with blood, emerged from the Myriad Souls Banner before crashing down toward the forest below.

Boom!

The earth trembled violently.

Trees, rocks, beasts, and every trace of life were reduced to dust beneath that single strike.

Or at the very least, that was how it appeared.

A moment later, another streak of light suddenly burst out from the ruined forest.

It paused for only an instant, glancing toward Luan Yi, before fleeing into the distance at full speed.

Luan Yi said nothing. Her smile only widened.

Immediately, she transformed into another streak of black light and chased after it.

"Brother Chen... Brother Chen..."

"You won’t escape this time..."

Before long, both figures disappeared beyond the horizon.

Silence gradually returned to the surroundings of the Myriad Souls Sect.

At least for a few seconds.

Only after confirming that Luan Yi had truly gone far away did another figure quietly emerge from the edge of the devastated forest.

Looking toward the direction in which the voluptuous woman had disappeared, while smelling the faint fragrance that still lingered in the air, Chen Xuan didn’t feel the slightest trace of lust or desire.

Instead, he instinctively wiped the cold sweat from his forehead.

’Sure enough... that demoness really has a way to sense my location.’

’If I had recklessly entered the Myriad Souls Sect, I would have been discovered the instant I arrived.’

He couldn’t help but let out a long breath, feeling that he might have underestimated Luan Yi.

In the past, she had already been astonishingly powerful and, in his opinion, was hardly weaker than Qian Lingxue.

Still, she had never displayed strength on the level she had just shown.

’To erase such a giant forest with a casual strike, I’m afraid her strength is no weaker than mine was at my peak.’

Although he was curious how Luan Yi had improved so dramatically, Chen Xuan had no intention of investigating.

He simply didn’t have the luxury. It wouldn’t take long before Luan Yi realized something was wrong and returned.

Once she discovered that the person she had been chasing was merely bait, she would undoubtedly search the surrounding area even more thoroughly.

Had he not regained his strength by that time—or better yet, left completely—the consequences would be disastrous.

With that thought, he no longer hesitated.

His divine sense moved, and a black robe flew from his spatial ring.

An emblem depicting a banner intertwined with a ring was embroidered over the left side of the chest.

It was the standard robe worn by disciples of the Myriad Souls Sect.

Moments later, a small black banner also appeared in his hand.

Although far inferior to the one wielded by the demonic clone, it was convincing enough to pass as an ordinary disciple’s treasure.

After making a few final adjustments to his appearance and aura, Chen Xuan nodded in satisfaction.

Within moments, the righteous Elder Chen Xuan had disappeared. Standing in his place was an ordinary disciple of the Myriad Souls Sect.

Without another glance behind him, he looked toward the towering black mountain in the distance before swiftly making his way toward it.
