Chapter 153: Refining the Fire Spirit Origin! Eruption!
Anything involving Laws was obviously of an extremely high level, much less a furnace capable of refining them down to their purest essence.
Yet, unlike what one might expect, no extraordinary phenomenon occurred even as the grass entered the furnace.
Just like when the medicinal ingredients had been thrown into the Four Myths Cauldron, flames quietly surged from within and wrapped around it.
Before Chen Xuan could even react, the Starlight Grass had completely disappeared, as though devoured by the flames.
Half a heartbeat later, they slowly receded, finally revealing what remained.
It was a tiny pattern. It looked somewhat similar to the one that had previously appeared in Mu Xuanyin’s hand, though the differences were just as obvious.
Unlike the familiar colors of the Five Elements, this one was a deep blue, as though an endless starry sky had been compressed into something no larger than a fingernail.
Countless tiny specks of light shimmered within it, quietly revolving around one another and creating the illusion of miniature constellations.
At the same time, it was countless times smaller than Mu Xuanyin’s Law Mark.
Rather than calling it a complete Law Mark, it would be more accurate to describe it as a tiny fragment of one.
Only after thousands—or perhaps tens of thousands—of such fragments were gathered together could a complete Law Mark truly be formed.
Chen Xuan stared at it for several seconds before finally reaching out to pick it up.
The instant it came into contact with his skin, he discovered that it could be absorbed directly.
His Nascent Soul trembled violently inside his Dantian, an intense yearning rising from its very core.
For a brief moment, Chen Xuan almost followed that instinct.
Fortunately, he restrained himself at the last second.
’There’s no need to rush to make a decision.’
’According to Master, a cultivator can only engrave a single Law Mark upon their Nascent Soul during the Soul Formation realm.’
’Once I absorb this fragment, my future path will inevitably be tied to the corresponding Law.’
Simply by observing it, Chen Xuan concluded that it contained the Star Law, a Law that seemed slightly more profound than the basic Fire Law Mu Xuanyin had demonstrated earlier.
However, it also lacked the Fire Law’s versatility.
At the very least, Chen Xuan couldn’t think of many compatible Laws that could be naturally fused with it.
’A Law Mark centered around the Star Law would probably reach only the Spirit Grade.’
’Perhaps, at best, it could barely touch the Earth Grade.’
Although that was already far beyond what ordinary cultivators could ever hope to obtain, it was no longer enough to satisfy Chen Xuan.
Having come this far, there was no reason for him to settle for an Earth Grade Law Mark.
At the very least, he intended to obtain a Heaven Grade one. If possible, even the legendary Immortal Grade Law Mark.
For anyone else, such thoughts would have been little more than fantasy.
But Chen Xuan possessed both the Law Furnace and the System. Together, they gave him a genuine chance of achieving this grand goal.
Even if that chance was small, it was still infinitely greater than what anyone else possessed.
And if everything ultimately failed, he could always return and engrave this comparatively "ordinary" Law Mark.
Thinking this through, Chen Xuan gradually relaxed.
He did not immediately throw any of Mu Xuanyin’s remaining treasures into the Law Furnace.
A quick inspection had already revealed that most of them contained traces of the Star Law, something that was undoubtedly related to her cultivation of the Great Star Origin Dao.
Although he found them extremely tempting, Chen Xuan ultimately chose to leave them untouched for now.
After carefully storing away the newly refined Law trace, his attention shifted elsewhere.
With a thought, the System’s storage space trembled.
The next moment, an object flew out from one of the grids before landing gently in his palm.
It resembled a flame.
Yet it existed somewhere between illusion and reality, flickering rhythmically as though breathing in harmony with heaven and earth itself.
The instant it appeared, Chen Xuan felt an intense wave of heat spread through him.
Not physically, but mentally.
It felt as though his Nascent Soul had suddenly caught fire, burning from the inside out.
Naturally, this wasn’t actually the case.
As his Nascent Soul lowered its head to inspect itself, it found neither flames nor injuries.
The burning sensation was fake, originating entirely from the object resting in his hand.
Fire Spirit Origin.
A treasure the System had described as a fragment of pure Law.
Chen Xuan had no idea how it differed from ordinary Law-infused materials.
However, judging solely from the overwhelming reaction of his Nascent Soul, he could already tell that the difference was enormous.
Compared to the fragment refined from the Starlight Grass, this treasure seemed to exist on an entirely different level.
He barely hesitated.
Suppressing the instinct to study it personally, Chen Xuan stepped forward and tossed the Fire Spirit Origin into the Law Furnace.
Then, he waited—waited for the flames to emerge.
Barely a moment later, scorching orange flames erupted from within the furnace, engulfing the illusory flame.
Unlike before, however, the Fire Spirit Origin did not immediately melt.
Instead, it resisted fiercely.
The illusory flame trembled violently, releasing wave after wave of invisible pressure as though refusing to be refined.
The orange flames continuously collided against it, yet each attempt was repelled.
The entire furnace began trembling.
Seeing this, Chen Xuan’s pupils shrank.
He instinctively leaned closer, placing his hand into its body and pouring his Spiritual Energy into it.
Inside his Dantian, the towering Nascent Soul rose to its feet and pointed toward the heavens.
The Law Furnace seemed to awaken.
The flames within it instantly grew several times more violent, roaring as they rushed toward the struggling Fire Spirit Origin.
A moment later...
Boom!
A pillar of blazing fire erupted from the furnace, soaring toward the ceiling of the second floor before rapidly spreading in every direction.
Just as Chen Xuan was about to stop and protect this space, however, they suddenly retreated.
Like molten lava flowing back into a volcano, every trace of fire was drawn back into the furnace.
Then, it disappeared.
Silence returned.
Only a faint warmth lingered in the air.
At the very center of the furnace, where the flame had previously been, now lay a single object.
It was a crimson, fist-sized pattern, covered in intricate lines of fire that exuded an ancient aura.
