Chapter 145: Magic Mirror! Chat Group?!
It took some time for Chen Xuan to calm Honglan down. After promising her several precious resources—none of which he actually handed over—he finally managed to convince her.
Watching Honglan pat her chest and solemnly promise to continue refining the Blood Essence Pills, Chen Xuan couldn’t help but feel a trace of guilt.
That feeling, however, quickly vanished once he saw her get to work. A smile spread across his face as he became even more convinced that summoning Honglan had been the right decision.
With the demonic clone exploring Scorpius Island, the righteous clone replacing him outside, and Honglan handling the pill refinement, Chen Xuan was finally free.
His gaze swept over the mountain of Nascent Soul Pills stored within his spatial ring. Their quantity was more than enough to support him all the way to the Peak of the Nascent Soul realm.
He understood that it was time to improve his cultivation once again.
Unless something unexpected demanded his attention, he intended to remain in seclusion for the foreseeable future.
Until he reached the Peak of Nascent Soul and advanced the Dragon-Phoenix Body with the help of the Blood Essence Pills, he had no intention of leaving the Seven Trials Tower.
Yet not long after Chen Xuan entered seclusion, a strand of divine sense arrived outside his courtyard.
Although his true body was inside the Seven Trials Tower, he noticed it immediately. Instead of leaving the Holy Weapon to respond, however, he simply made a move with his consciousness.
The righteous clone, seated quietly within the courtyard, slowly opened its eyes.
--
"Fellow Daoist, how has your stay on Misty Lotus Island been? My subordinates told me that you haven’t stepped out of your courtyard since arriving."
"No wonder you managed to reach such a level of cultivation at such a young age. Success truly comes through diligence."
Daoist Evergreen smiled warmly as he praised "Chen Xuan."
Naturally, he had no idea that the person standing before him was not Chen Xuan’s true body, but one of the Yin-Yang Vision’s clones.
Clearly, not even a Nascent Soul cultivator could detect anything unusual.
Chen Xuan controlled the clone to return the smile before shaking his head.
"The Island Owner praises me too highly. I merely benefited from good fortune. If I hadn’t inherited the legacy of a senior expert while I was still young, reaching the Nascent Soul realm would have been nothing more than a dream."
Daoist Evergreen wasn’t surprised by the explanation.
In his opinion, every Nascent Soul cultivator either belonged to a great power or had encountered extraordinary opportunities. Since Chen Xuan clearly wasn’t affiliated with any major force, the latter seemed perfectly reasonable.
After exchanging a few more pleasantries, Daoist Evergreen finally brought up the real reason for his visit.
"I previously promised to introduce you to the other members of the Alliance. Unfortunately, with the current situation, gathering everyone in one place isn’t realistic."
He paused briefly before smiling.
"Fortunately, one of our fellow Daoists is an accomplished Weapon Refiner capable of forging High-Grade Spirit Weapons. After considerable effort, he successfully refined these."
As he spoke, Daoist Evergreen produced a small rectangular mirror and handed it to Chen Xuan.
"Inject a strand of Spiritual Energy into it and control it with your divine sense."
Chen Xuan followed the instructions.
The moment his Spiritual Energy connected with the mirror, faint runes appeared across its surface. They shimmered for a moment before rearranging themselves into lines of text.
After the first line of text appeared, several others followed.
Soon, a barrage of messages filled the mirror.
"Daoist Qiayi: Has another member joined the Alliance? Welcome!"
"Master Tieyu: Welcome, Fellow Daoist!"
"Fairy Caiyu: Hehe. It seems Fellow Daoist Evergreen has found another extraordinary expert.
"..."
Any ordinary cultivator witnessing this scene would undoubtedly be left dumbfounded.
Yet, as Chen Xuan possessed the memories of his life back on Earth, he immediately pieced all the clues together.
In fact, it was hard for him not to make a connection.
The familiar interface. The scrolling messages. The usernames.
Wasn’t this simply... a chat group?
For a brief moment, Chen Xuan felt as though the cultivation world had somehow entered the information age.
Seeing Chen Xuan remain silent while staring blankly at the mirror, Daoist Evergreen misunderstood his reaction.
Believing Chen Xuan had no idea what he was looking at, he smiled and patiently explained.
"This mirror is a High-Grade Spirit Weapon. Individually, it possesses little practical use, but when connected with its counterparts, its overall value rivals even some of the weaker Holy Weapons."
Daoist Evergreen boasted, though he soon followed up on this.
"Of course, its abilities are purely auxiliary. It cannot attack or defend. Its only purpose is to allow holders of these mirrors to communicate with one another over vast distances."
Daoist Evergreen spoke modestly, but Chen Xuan immediately grasped the true value of such a treasure.
Without hesitation, Chen Xuan nodded before extending a finger toward the mirror.
His divine sense stirred slightly.
A new line slowly appeared at the bottom.
"Daoist Yin-Yang: Greetings, everyone. I’m pleased to meet you all."
Several welcoming replies immediately followed.
After briefly scanning through them and finding nothing particularly noteworthy, Chen Xuan put the mirror away before cupping his hands toward Daoist Evergreen.
"Thank you for your trouble, Fellow Daoist."
Daoist Evergreen merely waved his hand.
"There’s no need to thank me. Recruiting another expert also benefits me. The Alliance Leader has promised generous rewards to anyone who brings in capable cultivators."
"Besides, one more ally is never a bad thing."
He didn’t elaborate further.
Still, those few words were enough for Chen Xuan to realize that the Alliance was far from as harmonious as it appeared.
At the very least, there were intrigues dangerous enough to make Daoist Evergreen cautious.
Just as Chen Xuan was about to continue the conversation, his expression suddenly froze.
More precisely, his true body inside the Seven Trials Tower abruptly opened its eyes.
A surge of information had arrived through the connection with the demonic clone.
Instinctively, Chen Xuan raised his head. His gaze pierced through the Holy Weapon and the Misty Lotus Island as a whole.
"Has the demonic clone finally found something?" Chen Xuan muttered.
