Chapter 132: Breakthrough!
Completing the first trial of the Seven Trials Tower had granted Chen Xuan access to the Four Myths Cauldron.
With it, he could refine elixirs effortlessly, enjoying a one hundred percent success rate.
All he needed was to gather the required materials. However, that was exactly what had been holding him back.
The Nascent Soul Pill required several ingredients. While most could be obtained with his status and power, the primary ingredient, the Undead Flower, was another matter entirely.
Fortunately, this problem had been resolved during his adventure in the Dread Forest.
Standing before the cauldron, Chen Xuan waved his hand, causing several black flowers to appear alongside hundreds of supplementary materials.
Anyone present would immediately recognize those flowers as Undead Flowers.
The value of a single one was enough to make most cultivators green with envy. With so many in his possession, Chen Xuan could be considered truly wealthy.
’Unfortunately, the source of the Death Qi within the Dread Forest was the Death-Binding Ring. The Death Qi there was merely what had leaked from the ring over countless years.’
’At first, it was insignificant. But after thousands, perhaps even tens of thousands of years, those tiny traces of Death Qi had spread throughout the entire forest.’
Now that Chen Xuan had taken the ring away and absorbed the remaining Death Qi into his Myriad Souls Banner, the Dread Forest had effectively become a wasteland.
This was good news for mortals and ordinary cultivators. For experts like him, however, it meant the loss of a valuable treasure ground.
’It would have been nice if I could mass-produce Undead Flowers. Unfortunately...’
Chen Xuan left the thought unfinished. Shaking his head, he focused on the Four Myths Cauldron once more.
Without hesitation, he transmitted the recipe for the Nascent Soul Pill and tossed the materials inside.
Flames rose.
The medicinal ingredients melted instantly before merging together under the cauldron’s influence.
Moments later, several flawless pills rested at the bottom. With a casual wave, Chen Xuan collected them.
However, he did not stop there. He sliced off another portion of an Undead Flower and, together with a fresh batch of materials, tossed everything into the cauldron.
The process repeated itself again and again.
Gradually, more and more Nascent Soul Pills were created, steadily filling the space within Chen Xuan’s spatial ring.
--
Alchemy was a difficult and time-consuming craft. Most alchemists required days to produce a single batch of pills.
Yet with the Four Myths Cauldron, Chen Xuan faced no such limitation.
Only half an hour later, he exited the Seven Trials Tower and returned to his room. As he inspected the mountain of Nascent Soul Pills inside his spatial ring, a smile spread across his face.
He was confident that consuming them would allow him to break through to the Late Stage of Nascent Soul.
After activating his transmission talisman and confirming that nothing required his attention, Chen Xuan sat atop a futon and tossed a Nascent Soul Pill into his mouth.
The elixir dissolved into pure energy almost instantly. Within his Dantian, the Nascent Soul opened its eyes and drew in a deep breath, devouring the medicinal essence in a single motion.
Its body grew slightly larger, though the change was barely noticeable.
Yet one medicinal essence was followed by another, then another still. Those minor increases accumulated over time.
Until finally...
Bang!
The whole Dantian trembled.
A powerful aura erupted from the Nascent Soul’s body, startling Honglan, who had been resting nearby.
Chen Xuan, however, paid her no mind. He had no spare attention to comfort her.
Every ounce of his concentration was focused on himself.
He could sense that his strength had improved once more.
Whether it was his physical body, Spiritual Energy, or grasp over the surrounding world, everything had undergone a qualitative transformation.
The reason was obvious. He had finally stepped into the Late Stage of the Nascent Soul realm.
Joy immediately filled his heart. The Late Stage was the final substage of every major realm.
Although cultivators often used the term "Peak," it was not an official substage. Rather, it referred to those who had completed their accumulation within a realm.
Normally, once someone entered the Late Stage, reaching the Peak was simply a matter of time.
For Chen Xuan, the process would be even simpler.
’My supply of Nascent Soul Pills is far from exhausted. It should be more than enough to support my cultivation until I reach the Peak of Nascent Soul,’ he concluded.
Even so, he did not rush to continue.
Reaching the Peak would not significantly increase his combat prowess. At most, it would provide him with greater reserves of Spiritual Energy and control over it.
Compared to such a modest gain, there were more important matters demanding his attention.
With that thought, Chen Xuan waved his hand. Two streams of light shot out from his body and spread throughout the Spirit Stone mine.
He did not wait long.
Only a few minutes later, a knock sounded at the door. After receiving his permission, it swung open, and a figure stepped inside.
"Master."
Chi Yao greeted softly before bowing respectfully.
Noticing Chen Xuan raise an eyebrow, she immediately understood what he was wondering and offered an explanation.
"Master, Senior Sister Huo is currently in seclusion. She said she is preparing to refine the Nirvana Phoenix Feather you gave her."
"Would you like me to summon her?"
Recalling how Huo Ling’er had specifically visited her to deliver that message and claim that she would surely seek her out for a "spar" afterward, Chi Yao couldn’t help feeling speechless.
Chen Xuan, naturally, was unaware of her thoughts.
It was perfectly normal for cultivators to enter seclusion, and Huo Ling’er really needed time to refine the treasure.
Although she would most likely emerge if he called for her, there was no reason to interrupt her.
More importantly, he felt this might be a good opportunity to strengthen his relationship with his second disciple.
With these thoughts in mind, Chen Xuan shook his head.
"Don’t disturb her. The two of us are enough."
Then he continued,
"Come. It’s time to visit the Nine Origins Seas again. I believe that environment will be more conducive to your growth than the Tianxuan Domain."
