Chapter 826: Chapter 820: A Father’s Heart (Part 3)
Tiana looked over and saw the faint smile at the corner of her father’s lips; he seemed to be in a pretty good mood.
If only his mood could stay that good.
She called to him first: "Dad."
Sean turned his head, and when he saw her, that gentle, loving smile appeared on his face again.
That smile was like all those countless times she’d fallen into darkness, and her dad had descended like a god, reaching out his hand to pull her up from the abyss, telling her not to be afraid, that he would take care of everything.
Tiana felt a pang inside and slowly walked over to him.
Sean said, "Let’s go downstairs and eat."
"Mm."
As they went down the stairs, her dad supported her and said, "Tiana, from now on Dad won’t be so busy anymore. There are people in the company who can handle things. I’ll be home most of the time and try to make more time to be with the family."
Tiana nodded softly. "Mm, you’ve always been busy and running around. You should take a break."
Her father glanced sideways at her. Seeing how well-behaved she looked, he spoke softly again: "Remember to come back and visit often."
Tiana’s heart trembled lightly. All those things Dad had just said were actually just to lead up to this last sentence, weren’t they.
If she could, of course she would stay with her dad more often.
She nodded lightly. "Okay."
Talking as they went, they had already arrived at the dining room.
When Whitney looked toward them, she immediately curved her lips into the gentle smile of a homely, virtuous hostess. "Aiden, come sit down, you’ve been waiting too long."
Hearing her call him so intimately, Aiden Shaw’s brows knit together on reflex. He narrowed his eyes at her, cold glints pooling in his gaze like ice picks, slicing across that fake face of hers.
Whitney was startled by his look. She hurriedly shifted her eyes away guiltily, then turned to Sean and Tiana.
"Tiana, come sit. You’re the birthday girl today."
She lightly hooked her lips, a hint of chill in her fox-like eyes, and said in a low voice, "You’ve really worked hard today."
Hadn’t she just.
Chopping vegetables, stir‑frying, stewing soup—she’d done it all herself, barely managing to get everything ready in time for the meal.
Every time this little bitch came home, she had to exhaust herself doing all this menial work. What a burden.
That was what she thought in her heart, but on her face she wore an utterly kind and benevolent smile. "It’s your birthday today. As your mom, it’s only right that I cook for you."
As she spoke, she called over to May Sloane. "Come on, Amy, you sit too. Tiana’s always been taken care of by you. Really, as her mother, I should be thanking you properly."
Thinking of how Tiana had just told her about some of the vicious things this woman had done to her in the past, and then looking at the mask she was wearing now, May felt utterly repulsed inside.
If she hadn’t known in advance what kind of demon Whitney really was, she would’ve truly believed she was this nice.
Sean’s gaze carried a constant scrutiny. He hoped his wife’s change wasn’t just on the surface, and in a low voice he said, "Everyone sit down. You too."
Whitney responded with a cheerful little laugh. "Okay!"
Everyone took their seats.
At that moment, Whitney stood up and first lifted the lid on a pot of health‑tonic soup. She looked at Tiana, her gaze so gentle it seemed it might drip water. "Tiana, this is the soup your sister specially stewed for you. Try it."
In truth, that soup had been stewed by Whitney herself.
Georgia’s eyes flickered slightly, but she didn’t speak up to correct her.
Tiana nodded.
Whitney glanced at Aiden Shaw, then deliberately said, "Tiana, didn’t you say last time that you wanted to learn to cook? In this area you need to learn more from your sister. A girl can’t always be running around outside; only by becoming a virtuous wife are you worthy of a man."
