Chapter 807: Chapter 801: Daddy’s Pampering 6
Aiden Shaw raised his wine glass, his Adam’s apple moving up and down before he swallowed it all down, thinking about the previous kisses. He turned back to look at him: "Which aspect are you referring to?"
Graham Ford took a heavy drag on his cigarette; this question brought sadness.
Almost twenty-one years had passed; he hadn’t thought the girl was still alive, let alone that before he had the chance to cherish her, his son had whisked her away.
A resentment gathered in his chest, refusing to dissipate.
This question, to him, was a bit over the line.
Back then, when he pursued Rouge, his principle was to strike first. Before they got married, he had already slept with Rouge.
To delve deeper, Rouge had been dating Old Man Hawthorne, and he had begun his pursuit.
At the time, he felt invincible, thinking Rouge couldn’t escape.
But if this were happening with his own daughter, his heart would ache.
If his fourth child acted as impulsively as he had back then, he figured he wouldn’t be in the mood to drink; he’d rather beat him half to death to vent his anger.
After a while, Graham Ford skillfully skirted around the topic and changed it, looking intently at him: "Tiana’s profession is acting, she’s in showbiz, have you ever made things difficult for her?"
"I have."
At that time, he wasn’t sure what his mindset was, but he wanted that cunning little vixen to yield to him.
Seeing him so honest, Graham Ford believed he was serious about Tiana.
He added: "Moving forward, it won’t happen again."
This line wasn’t a promise to his father, but to his father-in-law.
Graham Ford gazed at him; of all his sons, the one he felt most assured about wasn’t the eldest, but the fourth.
As a child, the eldest and second were busy fighting, but he never wanted to participate, and even if he did, it was only to make up the numbers, not truly involved.
Because of this, he trusted that Aiden was sincere about Tiana.
Suddenly, Aiden spoke: "Dad."
This one word touched Graham deeply.
One must admit, most of his life had already passed.
"Uh-huh."
He drank another glass of wine, then said in a deep voice, his eyes earnest: "I’m sorry I didn’t give you and Mom more time to be with Sixteen."
Graham extinguished his cigarette, clinked his glass with him, cursing under his breath: "Brat."
With that, he drank it all in one go.
Aiden rarely confides in people; tonight, with glass after glass of wine, seemed a punishment for him, with more intimacy between father and son, using this way to entrust his one and only daughter to him.
It was a responsibility that also moved him.
He continued: "We’ve all grown up, and there are many paths we must walk alone — entering marriage, having children, and growing old."
"Though life seems long when spoken of, it passes in a flash. Thinking of childhood feels like just yesterday, so Sixteen and I plan to not move out after we get married."
Upon hearing these words, Graham’s emotions surged; being valued by one’s own children was more addicting than fine wine.
Aiden’s eyes were deep as he continued: "You and Mom raised us brothers, and in the future, we’ll accompany you as you grow old."
This speech caught him off guard, moving him deeply.
Raising his gaze to look at the fourth, the child who used to hide his thoughts, obedient and filial, had grown up.
His filial piety hadn’t changed a bit, and the youthful innocence between his brows gradually transformed into an exceptional man.
Though a man, he was also a father, and such a promise was heavy yet warming to him.
