Chapter 358: Chapter 325: The Janitor’s Job

In the cafeteria, the once-filthy floor, while not sparkling clean, was still dozens of times cleaner than the day before.

The strange smell that had permeated the air was mostly gone.

Wen Ying walked into the cafeteria.

No one else was there.

On a nearby table, a humanoid creature was lying down.

Hearing footsteps, he rolled over, eyes still closed. "No food. Get lost!"

He was clearly annoyed.

"I haven’t eaten yet. What do you mean there’s no food?" Wen Ying asked, a hint of displeasure in her voice.

"Are you looking to die?" The humanoid creature instantly sat up. Its movements were bizarre—stiff, yet somehow fluid.

But when his head swiveled around and he saw who it was...

The anger on his face vanished, replaced by anxiety and a touch of eagerness to please.

"The f-food... it’s really all gone... Breakfast is served at seven every day, and it’s already eight-thirty..."

His voice stuttered and was tinged with a slight tremor.

Clearly, the sight of her had shaken him to the core.

"So, you’re saying I have to go to work on an empty stomach?" Wen Ying was not at all pleased with the cafeteria worker’s response.

"You cleaned the cafeteria yesterday, didn’t you? I can tell you’re an excellent employee. You execute your duties perfectly."

The cafeteria worker nodded hurriedly.

’Why did I have to run into this menace!’

’I was just planning to lie here and slack off for a bit... If I’d known she was coming, I’d have gone to work somewhere else!’

"So, would you say that all the employees of our mental hospital are passionate about our mental hospital?"

The cafeteria worker nodded. ’Yes, I’m very passionate about this mental hospital and my job,’ he thought, weeping silently.

"And would you say an employee so passionate about the mental hospital is an excellent employee?"

The cafeteria worker nodded again.

’Excellent or not, who cares? The important thing is to stay alive!’

"So, can you let such an excellent employee go to work on an empty stomach? Is that something an outstanding workplace like our mental hospital would do? The welfare and treatment of our employees represents the very reputation of our hospital. Can we afford to lose face like that?"

The cafeteria worker shook his head. Of course not.

’If the higher-ups found out they’d brought shame upon the hospital, they would all suffer a fate worse than death.’

’And I really don’t want to die again!’

"So, can I go to work on an empty stomach?"

The cafeteria worker: "..."

’Why is she making things so difficult for a small fry like me!’

Seeing the worker’s pleading, on-the-verge-of-tears expression, Wen Ying continued, "I know you can’t make the call. Why don’t you go get the person in charge of the kitchen for me? I’d like some soy milk, fried dough sticks, and soup dumplings this morning. I won’t make things difficult for him."

The cafeteria worker: "..."

’If this isn’t making things difficult, then what is?!’

"What’s wrong? Don’t want to move? Do you want a demonstration of what I have planned for your boss?"

The cafeteria worker immediately backed away, then turned and fled.

Five minutes later, Wen Ying was sitting on a relatively clean stool when she heard the sound of urgent, approaching footsteps.

"You dare to come back?" The cockroach monster’s expression was a mask of incredulous fury.

’This woman isn’t a supervisor, and she’s not some mysterious figure!’

’He’d already investigated!’

’This woman is really just a new janitor!’

’A lowly janitor dared to deceive him? To play him for a fool? To mess with him?’

’And today, she walked right into the trap!’

’Soy milk, fried dough sticks, and soup dumplings?’

’Heh heh heh. In her dreams!’

Seeing the familiar face, Wen Ying was a little confused. "Why wouldn’t I? Isn’t this where we eat?"

Wen Ying glanced around. This was, indeed, the only cafeteria. She wasn’t mistaken.

"Are you planning to withhold my breakfast?"

At Wen Ying’s words, the cockroach monster looked like he was about to explode.

No newcomer had ever treated him like this, had *dared* to treat him like this!

BAM!

The cockroach monster slammed his fist down, and the table in front of Wen Ying shattered into pieces.

He raised his other fist.

Wen Ying seemed not to notice his fist, looking only at the splintered remains of the table. "How could you destroy public property? Don’t you know that these tables and chairs are the property of our mental hospital? Did you get approval from a supervisor? If not, does this count as a personal act? In that case, I should be able to report you, right?"

Wen Ying clutched her chest. "It’s just heartbreaking... that poor table."

The cockroach monster: "..."

’There she goes again, there she goes again! This human is completely insane!’

A sudden thought struck him: This insane human in front of him would be the perfect patient for this place.
